Cottage in Dompierre-sur-Authie, Somme, France - Peaceful Village Location
This charming cottage is located in the center of the small village of Dompierre-sur-Authie in the Somme department of France. It is ideal for those seeking a relaxing family holiday, although it is only a short drive to Auxi-le-Chateau or Hesdin where you will find supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, boulangeries and a swimming pool and 10 pin bowling alley. There is a market in Hesdin every Thursday morning which is well worth a visit. There are numerous family run restaurants in the surrounding villages that have an authentic French atmosphere.

Lovely Family Gite
About the Owner
My husband and I moved to France permanently in 2011 where we run a property management company in the Pas de Calais. We manage the gite in Dompierre-sur-Authie on behalf of the owner. We own the gite in Fougerolles du Plessis ourselves.

Lovely Family Gite
We really enjoyed staying in Dompierre which is a lovely village and well situated for exploring the WW1 battlefields and cemetries also the Somme Bay and nature reserves - there is lots to do and see. The Gite was cosy and well equipped and with a lovely big garden running down to a stream at the end. We had a super long weekend and would certainly recommend this Gite.
Beautiful, relaxing gite. Great for all the family.
We had a brilliant holiday. Shuna was absolutely brilliant at answering any of our queries before the holiday. Once there, we were not disappointed. The gite itself is very comfortable and relaxing with everything we needed. Our five year old son loved sitting with us by the stream watching for water rats and then running around the large garden having water fights. It's a great base for visiting the various medieval towns nearby as well as lots of lovely beaches. Would definitely recommend this gite to friends and family.
Wonderful relaxing gite in a wonderful setting.
Our two families stayed here for a week, despite the weather being against us for the first few days we still had a wonderful time. The gite is very well equipped and spacious. The garden is a fantastic size, especially for young children. The gite is ideally situated to get to most places and never too far from a supermarket to stock up on all the wonderful French cheeses and wines. The drive from Calais to the gite was super easy, just don't forget that there are tolls on the main roads, you don't need change though and can just pay by card. There are a few markets near by which we enjoyed visiting, just be sure to go in the morning otherwise you will miss them. We also spent the day at Le Touquet which was amazing. All in all a fantastic stay and look forward to going back soon!
A lovely, well equipped gite in a peaceful location. My boys especially liked the stream at the end of the garden (even though the water was absolutely freezing) and the bikes left by the owner for the use of guests. We took advantage of ordering a meal for our arrival from Shuna the caretaker and it was delicious! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking at home but we did eat out occasionally at some of the recommended restaurants. My only criticism is that I would have liked more towels but that is just a personal preference!
Comfortable Rural Retreat
4 male OAP's on our annual outing. Charming house in the middle of nowhere. Stream at the bottom of the (very large) garden ideal for paddling. No facilities locally, but 15 mins drive from nearest supermarket etc at Hesdin. Have stayed in and around this area many times and continue to enjoy it - wildlife, WW1 legacy sites, historic battlefields and seaside all within easy reach. House was well furnished and equipped (but no TV). Would use again
A RELAXING VILLAGE LOCATION
The cottage has everything a family looking for a relaxing holiday in the country could need. It is extremely well equipped. The village of Dompierre-sur-Authie its self has no shops but a drive of only a few minutes brings you to Creasy for two boulangeries and a small supermarket. Hesdin a twenty minute drive to the north is a lovely town with large supermarkets on its edge and plenty of restaurants. Try The Globe in the town square for lunch or dinner they welcome children and speak some English.
From the Owner
“The current owners bought this property to enjoy with their family. They find themselves unable to use it as much as they would like, so wish to share the house and this friendly part of France with others.”
