We moved to Vines Cross Farm, a former plant nursery, in 2012. Since then we have set about developing it into a smallholding with chickens, sheep and pigs. We have also just been joined by a small herd six alpacas including two babies.
Yvonne Miles purchased this cottage in 2012
We wanted to live in a rural location and start keeping livestock.

This was an ideal base for a short break - to visit the O2 and the surrounding countryside - including Battle and Rye. Yvonne and Antony were very welcoming and helpful - many thanks
The lodge was all we could have asked for - the owners have thought of everything, and it was a joy to stay here! It was very comfortable, very clean and really well-equipped. All the rooms were spacious and it was like a home from home! We felt very welcome and well catered for. The lodge is situated in really pleasant surroundings within very easy reach of country walks, but also just over 10 miles to the coast and towns. It offered us the chance to either stay in the quietness of the lodge itself, or visit many historical sites or more tourist-centred places. There are lots of things for all ages to enjoy in the area, being close to Eastbourne, Brighton, Battle and Hastings. There are lots of options regarding places to eat nearby too. We really enjoyed being greeted in the mornings by alpacas grazing near to the front of the lodge, and they were also there to welcome us back in the evenings. We are pleased to recommend this property very highly.
We had a fantastic stay at Meadow Lodge. We received a warm welcome when we arrived which was lovely. When we got inside, the lodge was spotlessly clean and everything had been provided for right down to a fan in each bedroom for those warmer evenings and a hairdryer in each. The view from the two sets of patio doors was fantastic and it was lovely to wake up to the alpacas in the field not far away. All the appliances were easy to use and all the information was provided. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were fabulous and the privacy was great so all in all a fantastic place to visit and we certainly intend to return.
An absolute little gem. Beautiful and homely accommodation all to a very high specification and such attention to detail. All you could need. Beds extremely comfortable. The Owners were so welcoming and the actual situation of the lodges and the truly gawjus animals made it a truly idyllic holiday. (If only I could have brought the alpacas home!)
Thank you so much....can't wait to return
It was a delight to stay in Meadow Lodge. We were greeted by Yvonne & Anthony. The lodge was immaculate and had all that we needed. It was thoughtful to provide tea, coffee, sugar & even biscuits for that first drink before we unpacked. We would certainly recommend this property.
We had a fantastic long weekend in Meadow Lodge, great weather and lovely peaceful surroundings. The pigs and the alpaca's kept our little one amused and the lodge itself was clean, tidy and beautifully finished. Its also a great location to explore east sussex, particularly some wonderful gardens nearby including Great Dixter, Sheffield Park and Nymans. We will be back!
