Villa near Obidos Lagoon, Silver Coast, Portugal - A Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes From The Beach And 20 Minutes From Three Golf Courses

This new two bedroom villa sleeps six and is located on the 5* Bom Sucesso golf resort, close to the beach and lagoon and designed by the famous Portuguese architect Nuno Graca Moura who has won awards for its design. The house has a fantastic, large, south east facing terrace with uninterrupted views of the garden, golf course and the Montejunto mountains in the distance. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and their own private terraces.There is TV and DVD in the lounge and in both bedrooms and free wifi. Outside there's a beautiful 20 metre pool which is shared with 11 neighbouring properties but you'll often find yourself enjoying it on your own. There is much to do across all seasons with three world class golf courses within 20 minutes drive, beautiful beaches for swimming, body boarding and all year surfing including the award winning surf beach Baleal where you can take surf lessons at Baleal Surf Camp. Obidos Lagoon provides safe shallow bathing, boat rides and kayaking for those who prefer gentle water and is within 10 minutes of the house. Away from the sea are lots of interesting historical and cultural locations such as the medieval town of Obidos 15 minutes away and slightly further afield you have Mafra, the palace monastery, Fatima, one of the world's most important pilgrimage sites, and Sintra with its castles, palaces, parks and stunning gardens and archaeology. The capital city of Lisbon is only an hour away. You also have the seaside towns of Sao Martinho do Porto and the (in)famous Nazare which, in the winter, has waves of over 100ft for those who want to ride (or more likely watch) the biggest waves in the world.

A beautiful place to relax and recharge.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in Portugal. This property was one of the best we have ever stayed in. The housekeeper met us as planned and showed us into the superbly equipped and furnished villa. The weather was amazing so we relished both the pool and the air-con. Our very favourite part was the terrace: morning coffee looking past the olive trees to the misty hills, dinner under the stars and hours reading on the terrace sofa. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Relaxing!

We enjoyed our stay at this villa very much! The listing description was accurate, the villa had everything we needed for a home away from our home and it was really clean. It's a great place for sun, sand and surf and being able to eat and drink all the delicious port, wine and food. Thanks for letting us stay for the week!

We have always loved Portugal for it's climate, its food, wine, beaches, culture and close proximity to the UK. We have been on holiday to Portugal for over twenty years but liked it so much we decided to buy a house in 2010. We chose this area because it's totally unspoilt with beautiful beaches, the lovely lagoon, great countryside and lots of interesting places to visit, including Lisbon which is only one hour away.

Special interest holidays:

The area is steeped in history, religion and culture. There is a fantastic culture around gastronomy with many wonderful local vineyards and restaurants to visit, providing great quality food and wine at very competitive prices.

Coast/Beach:

The beach is ten minutes drive away, there's a courtesy bus if you don't want to drive yourself. The local beaches are beautiful with soft sand and are uncrowded with rolling Atlantic waves. The lagoon, only 10 minutes from the house provides safe paddling for smaller children and those who don't want to surf the waves.

Travel:

The house is less than an hour from Lisbon airport. The alternative options are flying to Porto, about two and half hours away or getting the boat to Santander for those who don't like flying and/or prefer to drive their own car. Local Taxi drivers can pick you up from Lisbon Airport for approximately Euro 100. Please let us know if you need this service.

Distances:

Obidos is 10km away, Caldas da Rainha, the biggest local town, is 15km away, Lisbon is 100km away. The beaches and lagoon are within 6km.

Further Details:

There is a supermarket that's on the resort which is good for basics but you can't rely on it being open outside of high season. However the main supermarket is Pingo Doce in Obidos, about 15 minutes away and on your way from the airport, which has everything you'd need; quality and value. There's an excellent Tapas bar on the resort at the golf club and there are numerous other restaurants to recommend including Rio Corticio, a brilliant fish restaurant at the head of Obidos lagoon and Mae d'Agua,near Bombarral, which is inland in a beautiful village setting.

  • Outside: There is a large sunny terrace which is accessed via the sliding patio doors from the living area of the house. The terrace has a dining table, six chairs and an outdoor sofa, two sofa chairs with a coffee table. There are also sun loungers which can be moved from the main terrace or used in the private bedroom terraces. There is a private garden area which forms part of the much larger communal garden of over three acres. The communal pool, shared with our eleven neighbours is 20 metres long and 5 metres wide with sun beds provided and is sunk into a sheltered south facing spot in the garden. Utility Room: Ironing board, iron, clothes airer, vacuum cleaner, shopping trolley and mop. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The beds and bathrooms have top quality linen which are supplied and which can be changed at the guests request during their stay.
