Mid Rock House is a contemporary, architecturally designed house which was completed in 2014. Its is finished to an exacting standard, is delightful to live in and is very, very well equipped. Its location within the pretty village of Ellie makes it an excellent choice for holiday makers or people wanting to celebrate something special.

Elie has everything you could want from a seaside holiday village and many people have enjoyed holidays there since the Victorian times. Mid Rock House allows you to experience all that the village and surrounding area has to offer whilst living in a stand out house.

The views from the house are fantastic and the beach is a stones throw down the garden. The terrace is sheltered and is a fantastic place to BBQ or have a drink or sunbath. The owners have made every effort to make the house thoroughly enjoyable to live in and relax.

What a fantastic place!

Amazing views, wonderful sunsets, easy living. This house is just superb and it's one of those places that makes you want to keep coming back time and time again, which we will.

Great facilities for a family holiday or a trip with friends alike. Tucked away in your own private world but only minutes away from the pub! Booking, arrival and departure (those annoying holiday things) are all effortless - leaving you with the view and the time to sit back and relax. Go there, now.

Heaven

I want to live here all the year round. Wild grasses are waving and wild waves are crashing just below the house and we, inside the glass walls are as warm as toast. Next day, the tide is out, the beach is golden, the Forth is calm and the sun is streaming in....and every night the lighthouse flashes from the point. "Chust sublime" Great kitchen too.

A Wonderful House

We have just spent a week in this totally amazing house perched as it is above the beach of Ruby Bay at Elie. The design of the house is fascinating. Nothing can quite beat a huge expanse of glass overlooking an even more immense expanse of sea and sky. Whatever the weather we were warm and cosy and comfortable. There are many clever and original features such as “the snug” with its own television and “the Bothy” which is linked to the main house and which would be ideal for children and teenagers. We found there were so many places nearby to visit, with the Fife Coastal Path right on the doorstep. As it was winter we did not try the outdoor shower or the huge drying room for wetsuits but they will be great in the summertime. There must be few holiday houses by the sea anywhere in the UK to equal this one.

The most amazing house

If this house does not make you love contemporary design, then nothing will. It is just a little raised above the beach giving the most amazing and ever changing panorama, yet with complete privacy. You could spend all day and evening on the deck. The house has masses of internal space and is so easy to live in

In seconds you could be on the beach, or the pier, or heading towards one of the excellent local hostelries. This is a really lovely house and so safe for children.

The property was built in 2014 and replaced a existing house on the site. The plot is very well placed not least because of the magnificent view and proximity to the beach but also because The Ship Inn, the water sports centre and village centre are just minutes away. A short bike ride takes you to the golf club, tennis club and other facilities including a café and children's play ground

Special interest holidays:

If you enjoy water sports Elie has a lot to offer as there is a water sports centre there. There is a also the Fife Coastal Path running through the village and the Chain Walk close by

Coast/Beach:

Mid Rock House is right on the beach which is accessed directly from the garden. There is another beach 50 meters walk away where you can find the water sports centre and The Ship Inn. A few miles away you can find Kings Barns beach which is beautiful and isolated. Indeed there are several beaches to visit within 15 miles of Elie including the world famous beach at St Andrews

Travel:

Edinburgh airport is 45 miles away and 1 hour in the car

Dundee airport is 50 minutes away by car

The London train stops at Markinch 25 minutes away by car

Having a car is not essential in the village however if you want to discover the local area its a must to hire a car or bring your own

Distances:

In the village of Elie, 10 miles from St Andrews, 10 miles from Leven, 12 miles from Cupar and 50 miles from Edinburgh

Further Details:

The village has a lovely deli, a host of cafes, small shops and an art gallery. There is an award winning farm shop 2 miles up the road and the local supermarket is 4 miles away in Anstruther. However, you can book a shop on line before you arrive so you have everything you need for your stay.

Changeover Day:
We are very flexible, however, in the high season we prefer Saturday as this ties in with sailing courses that start on Monday and Finish of Friday. Its always worth asking if there is flexibility in the day and also the time you check in

Notes on prices:
Please contact us if you would like to rent the house for a long weekend or a short stay during the week. This is possible in 2016 and in the off season in 2017. 3 night stays are pro rata cheaper than a 2 night stay.

Mid Rock House is a modern building and which is unique within Elie. Most of the houses on the front are traditional however Mid Rock House benefits from being open plan with views across the Firth from every room. Its very spacious, comfortable and cosy in the winter too.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The house is very spacious and has been designed to be easy to live in as its on the beach. The concrete floors are warm yet easy to sweep, the kitchen is large with plenty or work space, the terrace is big but sheltered and the beds are very comfortable with hotel quality linen. Consumables like toilet rolls, hand soap, washing up liquid, a starter pack of wood etc are there when you arrive to get you started Outside: The house has a lovely garden to the front with flowering plants and shrubs and some lawn. The back garden leads down to the beach and forms a sheltered terrace, some lawn and a sloping piece of land a few meters to the beach. It should be noted that very young children need to be supervised in the back garden as there is a slope and its not fenced Utility Room: This is next to the kitchen and has a washing machine, a dryer, a sink and a cupboard with the hoover, mops etc in it. There is a large bucket outside to wash wet suits in and an outside shower. There is also space inside for people to change from their Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen is provided and is of hotel quality. There are hamman towels for use in the house and beach towels for out doors. The property is not normally cleaned during your stay however if you'd like to have this done you can ask when you book. Other: The Bothy is a great place to chill out, perfect for teenagers as its part of the main house yet slightly separate. The mezzanine bedroom above the sitting area is very comfortable for 4 single people
