Lovely large house near the sea in West Wittering, Chichester, Sussex, England

A charming, bright, spacious, double fronted white weatherboarded coastal house, with an abundance of period features. A lovely mature sheltered garden at the back is dominated by a beautiful walnut tree, with various swings hanging from it. There is also a trampoline with safety side netting. West Wittering is a charming village with a Blue Flag beach, East Head Nature reserve, a Norman church, Snowhill Creek harbour and crabbing pool, and lovely pub. Leisure pursuits within the area, aside from the wonderful beach on your doorstep, include sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing, paddleboarding, cycling, golf, tennis, riding, bird watching. Wonderful walking throughout the Chichester Harbour AONB. There is horse racing at 'Glorious' Goodwood and Fontwell Park, as well as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. The South Downs National Park is nearby as is the beautiful historic walled city of Chichester (6 miles) with its cathedral, theatre, cinema, bowling alley, leisure centre and excellent shops. Portsmouth's historic Naval Dockyard, and Arundel Castle are within 30 minutes drive.

Changeover day is Friday. Arrival time after 4.00 pm, departure time before 11.00 am. We accept short lets (2 or more days) during the off-peak season, or a variation in start date. Please enquire

House towels (but not beach towels) and bed linen are provided. There is an included charge of £10 per person per week for this. The house is cleaned and towels/linen changed weekly.

Fabulous house and garden in a superb location

This beautiful house and garden is very well equipped for a family holiday. Only a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Sandy beach of West Wittering which has great facilities for a coffee or lunch. The house has a very large lounge dining room and kitchen suitable for a large family. Nice extra touches include a good selection of toys suitable for a wide range of children. Great seating outside to eat and relax including lovely comfortable cushions for garden furniture. The garden is well established and has a trampoline and swings for the children. Cafe next door for light bites and cakes. The Wittering gastro pub is a two minute walk away and serves a good selection of drinks cocktails and delicious food. Local shop 5 mins walk away. Good parking for 4 cars. Paul is a very good host and communication was excellent. High chair stair gates and travel cot available . House was warm and endless supply of hot water. Great holiday was had by the entire family and would definitely like to book again.

Family weekend

Great location walking distance to the beach. Great large garden for the kids. Comfortable and roomy accommodation for our large group. We had a great time. Some maintenance issues during our stay which the owner sorted. Communication with him was very good.

Perfect stay

We stayed for 3 days at this lovely house. It was spacious, comfortable and incredibly well located for West Wittering beach, whilst also being convenient enough for Goodwood. The beautiful garden was an added bonus. Would thoroughly recommend !

We are a family of four who have been visiting West Wittering for over 25 years. We were fortunate enough to buy our house in 2008 and love our frequent visits and the wonderful outdoor life it offers. The children horse ride, sail, kayak, play tennis, swim and generally play on the beach. We all enjoy the long beach and coastal walks and bike rides that are available on our doorstep.

Why they chose this property

We have always loved the area, with its outstanding sandy beach, sunny 'microclimate', and abundance of outdoor activities. Its only 90 minutes from London, but always feels like a complete escape.
