Standcliffe Mews is an attractive and well equipped bungalow that has been converted from Stone Stables within the grounds of Standcliffe House.

Just yards from the famed Derbyshire Viewpoint of Crich Stand and overlooking Crich Tramway Village which is next door to Standcliffe Mews.

Crich was the fictional Village of Cardale in the popular T.V Medical Drama Peak Practice.

A lovely all ground floor, detached cottage, located next door to Crich Tramway Village on the outskirts of the pretty village of Crich in Derbyshire.

Very well maintained and comfortable throughout, the bungalow is perfect for small families or couples looking to explore this varied part of the Peak District. The Bungalow offers a delightful morning room overlooking the garden, where you can enjoy a morning cup of tea in quiet surroundings. The bungalow has a cosy sitting room with electric log effect fire, which is an ideal place to relax after a day of activities, plus this holiday home has a fitted kitchen with dining area, and there are two bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities.

Outside, there is a pretty, lawned garden with patio. This bungalow is ideally located to wander around the village of Crich, with its Market Square and three traditional pubs. Standcliffe Mews is an excellent base for walking and exploring the Peak District and close by you will find the Arkwright Mills, the Market Towns of Bakewell and Matlock, the imposing Chatsworth House and wonderful Haddon Hall. This Crich bungalow is a wonderful base, from which to enjoy the whole of the Peak District.

About the Owner

Glyn & Sheila Hartshorne built Standcliffe Mews in the grounds of Standcliffe House about 30 years ago and converted it into a Holiday Cottage five years later.

When Peak Practice the TV Medical Drama started filming in Crich it was used as accommodation for the stars and crew while they filmed mainly during the winter months.

The Cottage has been run as a Holiday Let ever since.

Over the years we have met many people and get regular repeat bookings from them.

Crich is a delightful self contained village with various shops and services and a very good hourly bus service can take you further afield if you don't want to drive to far.

My family and I (myself, husband, 19 year old, 11 year old and dog!) have just spent a lovely week in Standcliffe Mews in Crich, Derbyshire. When booking somewhere the main requirement was that they took dogs and we happened upon Standcliffe Mews. The cottage is a converted barn standing in the grounds of a larger house. The accommodation was very clean. The kitchen has a good gas cooker and what looked like quite new dishwasher and washing machine. There is a highly efficient boiler giving hot water on tap. There is a double and twin room. The beds were comfortable and the bedding lovely and fresh. There is a sitting room with electric fire and TV/DVD. There is a useful large tiled hall as you come into the property and we could sit in here to get away from the kids! The garden is secure from a dog point of view. The owners are friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The setting is idyllic. Lots of walks within a few minutes of the front door, the National Tramway Museum next door, plus loads to see in the area plus, of course the absolutely beautiful countryside. Crich is a small village but has a good butchers, small Nisa supermarket and a bakery plus an Indian and various pubs although we didn't eat out at all. I would definitely recommend the accommodation and the area.

Fantastic place to stay, home from home.

Wow! What a beautiful place, very clean, very comfortable, the beds were especially so, just could not fault it. Owners made us feel very welcome, were there if you needed them, but not intrusive in any way. Loved the fact that the tramway museum is at the back, sat outside listening to the" ting ting " of the trams, ( this is not intrusive in any way, and can not be heard inside the property). The bedrooms are smaller than we expected, but this did not spoil the wonderful time we spent there. I would recommend this property for couples or a small family with young children.There was three of us, and it was perfect.

The shop in the village centre we found to be fantastic, we could buy all we needed without having to travel miles to the nearest supermarket.

We are hoping to stay again in the near future.

Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Great Cottage

Had a great time in Crich,the cottage was well kitted out & good for our dog enclosed garden.

Glyn was helpful in his places to go & do,shame the weather was lousy,Great Fish Chip Shop in Crich and indian take away.

Comfortable property in ideal location

Thank you Glyn and Sheila, your cottage had everything we needed. Cosy warm and well equipped with plenty of space and a good enclosed garden for our dog. There are lots of local walks we particularly liked walking up to Crich Stand and down to the Derwent at Whatstandwell. We enjoyed some good meals at the Cliff Inn nearby, The Royal Oak at Tansley and the Jug and Glass at Lea plus the Family Tree at Whatstandwell.

We both originate from this area and had a lovely time revisiting, so much so we have booked another week in August.

Perfect - we had a lovelystay

The bungalow was delightful and the location is quiet and undisturbed.

It was well equipped and was like home from home so we found it very relaxing.

It's ideally situated being next door to the Crich Tramway Museum where we had a delightful time.

Being in a village but close to other Derbyshire tourist locations it made a perfect location to base ourselves for days out.

We will happily recommend it to others.

A great place to stay

Really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean ,spacious,and had everything needed and the garden was great for the dog.A good location with a short walk to the village and walks from the door.The owner was very helpful but not intrusive

Bakewell is lovely & the Monsal Trail is great for walkers or cyclists.

This bungalow is a cosy, warm place situated on the edge of the Peak District with lots of places to visit all within easy reach. Its Featured Stonework and wooden ceilings gives it a delightful atmosphere.

The Towns off Matlock, Alfreton, Belper and Ripley are all approximately six mile away. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Caulke Abbey and Alton Towers are all less than one hours drive away. The Cities of Derby & Nottingham are within easy reach, and there is an hourly bus service to all local towns and other areas

The Village of Crich is almost self contained and has a Mini-Super Market, Butchers , Bakers with Cafe, Post Office, Indian Restaurant, Haberdashery Shop, The Kings Arms & Black Swan are down near the Market Place and the Cliff Inn is 100 Yards away from Standcliffe Mews.

There are Four Towns all about 5 Miles away from Crich.They are :-Alfreton , Belper , Ripley & Matlock. There is a Bus Services from outside the Mews to all four Towns. Derby , Nottingham, Chesterfield ,Bakewell, Ashbourne and many more locations are are all within easy driving distance

Quiet and Safe Off Street Parking.for two cars Lots of footpaths & walks straight from the doorstep The "Cliff Inn" is a superb pub which is just as good as it was forty years ago and only 100 yards from Standcliffe Mews. Serving good food with a varied menu. The pies from a local butcher are highly recommended. Another favourite with our guests is "The White Hart" at Moorwood Moor, the pub has recently been rebuilt and offers superb food and surroundings. It is only about one and a half miles away from the bungalow and a map to get to it is available on request.

Outside: Small Garden with lawn and patio area. A table and four chairs is available for outside use and a undercover storage area (for Bicycle's etc ) and drying area is also available. The Garden is totally secure and enclosed. There is off road parking for two cars. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels & Bed Linen are included , however if guests would like to bring there own there is a £20 reduction in the price of the rental. Please ask for details. Other: The Spacious Morning Room features Rustic Stone walls and has 2 Armchairs and a 2 Seater Settee and a Coffee Table.This Room opens out onto the Entrance and Garden. There is WiFi, but it can be a poor signal sometimes due to distance from exchange.
