House in Totland Bay, Isle of Wight. Peaceful House on the edge of an AONB.

This lovely spacious and peaceful house, which is graded four stars by Visit England, is on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the National Trust coastal path adjoins the garden, running down to the beach in one direction and up to Headen Warren with its stunning views and enchanting pathways in the other. The garden is home to red squirrels, rabbits and pheasants.

The house will be decorated for Christmas and there are cosy pubs and good restaurants only a short distance away. Bring walking shoes for crispy walks across the Warren and Needles headland.

For little ones the Needles Pleasure Park is nearby, offering chairlift rides down to the beach and various other amusements. From Headen Warren you can walk across to Tennyson Down and down to The Needles pleasure park and beach. Headen Warren itself is criss crossed with charming little paths leading amongst the heather to outstanding views over The Needles and beyond to Studland Bay and Bournemouth on a clear day. Totland and Colwell Bays are lovely sandy beaches, particularly Colwell, with safe bathing and interesting rock pools for the young. The Waterfront Restaurant and bar in Totland Bay is a good place to sit with a drink and perhaps a meal and gaze out over the water - on a clear evening the sunsets are beautiful. Colwell Bay just around the Headland has a waterfront bar/restaurant, a beach cafe and a comprehensive beach shop selling all sorts of beach toys and hiring out wetsuits and body boards as well. There are good shops in Freshwater nearby for groceries, fresh meat and fish, including lobster and crab, and a good farm shop. The charming little town and port of Yarmouth with its ferry links to Lymington is a short ten minute drive away. It has many interesting shops as well as pubs and restaurants and the lovely George Hotel with its seafront garden. You can hire bikes and cycle along the old railway line beside the River Yar to the old part of Freshwater for lunch at The Red Lion. The house sits in around an acre of garden nestling into the slope of the hill behind it. There is a flat lawn next to it with mulberry, laburnum and fig trees with a slope rising up to the sun deck area offering lovely sea views towards Lymington and Hurst Castle. We also have a hammock there to relax in. There is another lawn area and a path leading up past apple and pear trees trees to the top of the garden. Guests can walk out of the top of the garden and straight onto the cliff path which leads to the beach in one direction and Headon Warren and Tennyson Down in the other. Garden furniture is provided. There is a short driveway next to the house offering parking for up to two cars. We are more than happy to offer short breaks during the autumn/winter season or longer one month lets. The house has been refurbished to the highest standard and offers Wi Fi, a Nespresso coffee machine, i Pod dock and other small luxuries. The entrance hall leads to a huge sitting room with windows overlooking the garden. Two sofas, large dining table and chairs, flatscreen TV and DVD player, Hi Fi system. Fitted kitchen in New England style with breakfast bar and stools, leading to pantry and utility room. Downstairs loo. Very large main bedroom with two large windows overlooking the gardens. King size double bed, fitted wardrobe, dressing table, 'day bed', full size cot. Second smaller bedroom overlooking the garden with bunk beds and chest of drawers. Bathroom with white suite, heated towel rail and large walk in shower. Bed linen supplied, beds made up ready for guests arrival. Please bring own towels and cot bedding. Birthdays, Anniversaries and Special Occasions catered for.

We took early retirement moving down to the Island in 1997 and settling in the West Wight area. West Wight is very beautiful with lovely beaches and walks.

We enjoy doing holiday lets and meeting and welcoming our guests. Little Mount is great for families with a big garden and proximity to the beach.

Wonderful break at Little Mount. Perfect environment for relaxation but also plenty to keep my lively 18 month old son busy. Lovely weather too so we took advantage of the local beach and the local fish and chips! We'll be back soon.



Thank you for your warm welcome Hilary and Nick. Little Mount and its beautiful gardens was the perfect place to stay. We loved the little path leading out of the garden to the Coastal path which took us down to Totland Bay with its waterfront restaurant.

A gem of a cottage

Tucked away on a hillside, Little Mount is a fantastic little cottage. Private location with a generous driveway and gardens. Old schoolhouse which has retained its charm but has been modernised. Good sized and airy lounge with comfortable couches and dining table, well equipped kitchen and access to the garden with amazing views over Totland beach. Upstairs the master bedroom is spacious and bright and the 2nd room had a cot for our 18 month daughter. The cottage also provided a high chair and stairgates along with some toys and books. The gardens were a great asset as we could let our daughter run around outside in the morning before we went out and again after dinner before bedtime. The location of the cottage meant that The Needles was only minutes away and so were the beaches of Totland and Colwell Bay. The Hut at Colwell Bay is worth a visit as great food, drinks and service and the local takeaway Sunbo was fantastic. There isn't a lot of option for takeaways but local Co-Op & Tesco Express is nearby. Red Lion is recommended but they aren't kid friendly (no kids menu or highchairs). If you haven't been to the IOW before, everywhere is close but takes a while to get to as the locals drive very slowly! Good days out are Compton Beach which is where the locals go and the highlight of our holiday was Tapnell Farm. Thanks Hilary & Sharon for making Little Mount a perfect little getaway.

Fantastic holiday

We had a wonderful time at little mount with our family of four. The accommodation is lovely and homely with beautiful light in the rooms and amazing gardens to explore. It's perfectly situated to explore the beach, coast and surrounding areas. It was absolutely ideal for our needs and the kids were so busy with all that was on offer close by including swimming, horse riding and historical sights. A great trip.

Lovely break away

Lovely break away had by all of the family over the Christmas period. We wanted an escape and found a delightful and spacious home away from home in Little Mount.

We have two little ones but there's plenty of space and the owners had some little toys for them to play with and help keep them occupied!

The house is close to the beach and some great walks up on the highlands and we found some lovely pubs not far away. Sadly the Needles pleasure park (another local attraction we wanted to visit) was closed for Christmas but will be visiting next time!

Overal would thoroughly recommend if you're after a peaceful break with lots of fun things to do closeby and enough things for kids to enjoy too.

Lovely holiday rental, beautiful house & location.

We had a fantastic holiday in Little Mount this August. Little Mount is more spacious than it looks in the photos - the lounge and main bedroom are really good sizes. Our two children loved the bunk beds. The owner was very friendly helpful. The garden is super and the 'secret path' which leads to the coastal path was well used - walking to nearby Totland Bay and Alum Bay. I would definitely recommend this holiday rental to friends/relatives, especially those with children. There is so much to do on the island, our children had the times of their lives. We will definitely be coming back.
