Overview

About the property

Apartment in Valencia City, Costa Del Azahar, Spain - 15 Minutes From Centre Of Valencia it Is famous for many Restaurants And Bars

We bought this flat in July 2014 as an investment. It gives us a second home from which to enjoy the many sights and features of this vibrant city (see travel guides) and view here (copy and paste into browser) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt2TGmS1rxw . It needs at least to 'pay its way' so we are making it available for short stay guests. It was previously owned for 11 years by a fastidious couple who had spent 25,000 Euros refurbished the flat to a very high standard. They left most of their furniture which can be seen in the photos. (They retained their statues of the Buddhas!). The lounge was remodeled, and has a large square kitchen with mostly new white goods. It has exquisite parquet flooring, many large wardrobes in each of the three bedrooms. The flat is bright and airy.

About The Owner

Beth and I retired from professional positions three years ago. We live in South West London and enjoy many hobbies, sport, sailing and 6 grandchildren.

My parents came to the UK as refugees from Spain during the Spanish Civil war. Our mother returned to live in her native Valencia as a widow in 2003. Having property in Valencia and a holiday home in nearby Cullera (see alternative posting on Owners Direct webpage), we are able to visit her easily and enjoy the delights of this fascinating city and enjoy the sun drenched seaside.

My two brothers and I have agreed that the flats need to pay their way, so we are offering to share them with responsible tenants from the UK.

We hope they give you as much pleasure as they have us and our families.

Luis Castillo

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2014

Why The Owner chose Extra murs

We bought the flat for a number of reasons. Primarily as an investment. We hope to cover costs and a little more. Short term letting allows us and our children and grandchildren to use it when vacant. It appealed to us as it was by far the best of the many we viewed with its stunning interior and comfort it affords.

It is very handy for the city centre, and the many amazing sites it has.

Perfect apartment for a city break

  • 5 of 5

From beginning to end of the booking it has been a very smooth process. Excellent communication from Luis at all times. The apartment is perfect, spacious, clean and a good location too.

So nice to have shampoo and shower gel etc for us to use in the apartment so we didnt need to take our own although we did take some things with us which we have left behind for others to use such as suntan lotion.

It takes about half hour to get to the airport via the metro, very easy journey. 17 minute walk to the Market (we timed it) which is a good starting point for the old town - it is open from 8 am until 2.30 pm.

We got lost on arrival coming out of Angel Guimera station so more specific directions would have been handy but we found it after quite a walk. Plus the front door is stiff, as explained in the Tenants Notes, so persevere because we thought we couldn't get in.

Angel Guimera station is quite large and there are several exits. Finding the correct exit will make your walk to the apartment much easier. Ask Luis for the exact name of the exit as I can't remember it but I know you have to walk through one section of the station to another part of it and along a different platform before exiting.

The metro takes you to the beach which is huge and has s selection of umbrellas, sun loungers or just miles and miles of sand to sit on. We dined in the Marina Beach club which wasn't expensive.

The apartment feels like home and has everything you would expect in your own home such as iron, hairdryer, airer, toaster, DVD etc etc. Beds were comfy and clean.

The Danish supermarket is brilliant and Luis is correct in saying buy the ugly oranges they give so much juice.

Thank you Luis for renting out your lovely apartment.

Owner's Response: Hi Helen, Thank you for the excellent review and for your helpful comments. I also have now just learnt which exit to use at Angel Gimera station after many years of 'failures'. It is found if you walk back from the direction of travel. This is just 200 yds from Abastos civic centre and 100 yds from the front door. It is now in the July version of the Tenant's Guide! Thanks also for the information on the loungers and shades on the beach and using the metro, which I will also emphasise in the Guide. Valencia has a huge amount to offer. One visit is never enough as we find when we go exploring ourselves. You are more than welcome anytime. Best wishes Luis Castillo

Valencia is Spain's best kept secret. Must see

  • 5 of 5

The property is centrally situated very close to Angel Guimera metro station. It was short trip from the airport and inexpensive (8 euros for a family of 5). A short walk from the metro the the apartment which exceeded our expectations. It is a very modern ,comfortable and spacious apartment with all the mod cons one could need including a smart hub TV which my 9 year old daughter lhijacked once we managed to get her out of the swimming pool. Turn right coming out of the apartment and walk up Ave el Cid ( yes Charlton Heston for those of a certain age!!) rot 10 minutes and an open air Lido (Parque Del Oueste) is on your left hand side. Euros 3.25 pp and you can swim all day. Very clean and well run.

Turn left out of the apartment and a 2 minute walk takes you to a very well stocked and inexpensive supermarket. Luis had mentioned the local oranges but we did not expect a 6 kg bag to cost only one euro.

Fresh OJ every day.

Luis went beyond his remit in sourcing an emergency dentist for me when I broke a tooth one hour before I flew. Very professional dentist who charged very little compared to what I would have paid in the UK ( if I could have got an appointment that is).

A 10 minute walk takes you into the Old Town filled with mueseums , churches and it is worth taking the Blue Bus tour (17 euros per adult for 24 hours 19 euros for 48).just to take in the scale of the town.

A few metro stops takes you to the local beach at Las Arenas ( 11 euros return for a family of 5) The local metro , buses and taxis are inexpensive and it is a good way yo find your way about.

WE enjoyed Valencia very much and the help and advice from Luis made it easy for us to slip into holiday mode. For the museums and Oceangraphic World ( a must see) check out buying a Tourist pass which allows free entry into some and others at reduced prices.

We returned only a few days ago but already are planning a return trip at Easter time (Fire Festival is recommended).

Thank you Luis for a wonderful holiday in your beautiful apartment and we shall be in touch soon once we have term time holidays confirmed.

Best Regards

Sean

We enjoyed a lovely stay at this apartment.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely stay at this apartment. It had everything we could have needed - space, air conditioning (it was very hot when we were in Valencia!!), ... very light and airy. Despite having a lovely dining table, we tended to 'hang out' in the kitchen, but this was fine as it meant we were near the fridge and cold drinks and the food supply!!

The 'tenant's info folder' was full of brilliant info, and we would thoroughly recommend Tito's tapas bar (5 mins walk). We went a couple of times, and the welcome, and the food was amazing! Our waiter/barman was lovely, spoke enough English to help us out, and chose us some delicious tapas to eat, and the portions were bigger than we expected.

The supermarket round the corner was also very useful so we could make sure we had enough snacks, etc to keep the 'kids' happy.

It was so nice to have this base to relax in, and rest between excursions! Near enough to the old town, the train station/bull ring, to make them easy walking distance. Also a very helpful friendly 'land lord/owner' to communicate with up until our stay.

Over all - lovely stay in a lovely apartment.

Owner's Response: Sula, Thank you for such a fulsome review. I am delighted you all had such a great time. It is a pleasure helping our guests and reading of your great times. You are all welcome anytime. Try 'off season' when it is a lot cooler and doing the tourist thing might be more comfortable. Not so good for roasting on the beach however. Best wishes Luis

Very comfortable apartment in the city of Valencia

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment and really appreciated the air conditioning in the summer heat. The owner was very helpful and always responded quickly. The city was a 25 minute walk away and we also enjoyed the outdoor pool/lido at park l"oueste which was a 10 minute walk and very reasonably priced (there's no communal pool as stated in the spec). Would highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Hi Paula, Thank you for your positive response. I work hard to ensure customer satisfaction and have the time, being retired, and the commitment to maintain and earn maximum satisfaction reviews. I agree the air con is particularly valuable when returning from to the flat from the summer heat. The flat cools down in just minutes. I have withdrawn any reference on the website to a communal swimming pool as this can be confusing. It is, of course, a nearby public pool. Pleased you found an alternative open air pool nearby as despite many trips to Valencia, I was unaware of it! It never fails to amaze me that every time we visit, we discover something new. I'll certainly check it out and include it in my publicity. If you feel you want to see more of Valencia, try a winter break when the cost is much less and the temperature for sightseeing more comfortable. You will be very welcome. Best wishes Luis
