Valencia City - Luxury 3 Bedroom Property. Refurbished and Newly Furnished

Updated: 22-Oct-2016
Apartment in Valencia City, Costa Del Azahar, Spain - 15 Minutes From Centre Of Valencia it Is famous for many Restaurants And Bars

We bought this flat in July 2014 as an investment, and as a base to visit my mother who lives close by. It gives us a second home from which to enjoy the many sights and features of this vibrant city (see travel guides) and view here (copy and paste into browser) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt2TGmS1rxw . It needs at least to 'pay its way' so we are making it available for short stay guests. It was previously owned for 11 years by a fastidious couple who had spent 25,000 Euros refurbished the flat to a very high standard. They left most of their furniture which can be seen in the photos. (They retained their statues of the Buddhas!). The lounge was remodeled, and has a large square kitchen with mostly new white goods. It has exquisite parquet flooring, many large wardrobes in each of the three bedrooms. The flat is bright and airy.

About the Owner

Beth and I retired from professional positions three years ago. We live in South West London and enjoy many hobbies, sport, sailing and 6 grandchildren.

My parents came to the UK as refugees from Spain during the Spanish Civil war. Our mother returned to live in her native Valencia as a widow in 2003. Having property in Valencia and a holiday home in nearby Cullera (see alternative posting on Owners Direct webpage), we are able to visit her easily and enjoy the delights of this fascinating city and enjoy the sun drenched seaside.

My two brothers and I have agreed that the flats need to pay their way, so we are offering to share them with responsible tenants from the UK.

We hope they give you as much pleasure as they have us and our families.

Visiting Valencia

  • 4 of 5

The property was well maintained and looked after, clean and well equipped. Luis the owner has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that visitors are happy in his property. Luis was very accommodating and as he didn't have people arriving the day we left, he was happy for us to use his flat and store our cases there so that we could have some extra time in Valencia. He even put wine and beer in the fridge for our arrival, which was unexpected but a very welcoming thing to do. This was our first time renting a property through Owners Direct and we were very happy with our choice. We felt this property offered good value for money and I would be happy to recommend this to friends. Our deposit was repaid very promptly.

Owner's Response: Dear Sue and Dave, Thank you for your generous comments on your recent stay and particularly your personal views. I enjoy ensuring my guests have the best possible stay and it costs little to go that bit further. I will be delighted to accommodate your friends in future as indeed you and your party will also be welcome anytime. Luis

A beautiful luxury flat

  • 5 of 5

The flat is beautifully presented with all facilities and plenty of room for 6 people. It is well situated with most sites walkable and a good bus service nearby and the metro only 400 metres distant. Also taxes are plentiful and reasonably priced. There are good local places places to eat and drink with Abastos Tipo a particular favourite for a wide range of freshly prepared tapas. I stayed for a warm week in September and was able to keep cool thanks to air conditioning but I am convinced a Winter stay would find the flat warm and cosy because is double glazing and central heating. One further thing: the owners, Luis and Beth, while leaving you to enjoy your holiday, are at the end of the phone or email if you need advice before or during your stay. I shall certainly be going back to see the many things I couldn't fit into my week.

Owner's Response: Steve, Thank you for your generous review. Although we are often in Valencia we live in London. However we have a network of support locally, from our cleaner/manager, English speaking family living nearby, several tradesmen and knowledge of the nearby hospital and medical support. You are more than welcome in future. A week just isn't long enough to visit this beautiful city. Once described as Spain best kept secret. Best wishes Luis and Beth

amazing property and city!

  • 5 of 5

Luis and Beth collected us from the airport and continued to advise us during our stay. The flat is immaculate and in an area with lots of local bars/restaurants (we can particularly recommend Glasol the owner speaks very good English & is very helpful). We would also recommend Trebol fabulous tapas & lovely staff. Voodoo cafe excellent for morning coffee. There is a lot to do in Valencia and all within easy reach of the flat. Excellent train service & taxis on your doorstep. We had a fabulous holiday and can't thank Luis & Beth enough they are so helpful and their local knowledge is invaluable! We would love to go back one day. Thank you Luis & Beth.

Owner's Response: Mike and Donna, It was fortunate we were also in Valencia so as to be able to use our car to help collect the six of you from the airport as we are usually at home in London. It is our aim to give our holiday makers the best, trouble free holiday and have established a smooth running outfit from our local cleaner/manager to several trade specialists. Valencia has been described as Spain hidden secret. You have descovered that, and more, with a good knowledge of local places to eat, and even an English speaker we didn't know. You are welcome to join an increasing group of 'returners'. You might like to think about our beachside flat in nearby Cullera. Best wishes Luis and Beth

Excellent base for visiting the city

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the new Joaquin Sorolla railway station on a high speed train that had left Madrid just 100 minutes earlier. Leaving the station the apartment is a brief 10 minute walk, the same amount of time if coming from the avenida Del Cid Metro station via the airport. As is usual with newer Valencian city properties, the outside is nothing much to look at, but after climbing a short flight of steps (there is a lift) and entering the apartment things immediately change.

Of the three bedrooms the ensuite room is by far the largest, but the others are of a reasonable size, one with a double bed and the other with two singles. There is also a family bathroom, both have showers over the bath. There were plenty of fresh towels and shower/hand soap should you have forgot to bring your own.

The lounge diner is a comfortable space to spend time in, with a large dining table at one end seating 8. There is a decent sized TV, DVD player (with small collection of DVDs) and bluetooth speaker. There is also a 3G internet “Mifi” style WiFi internet box, we had no problems connecting our phones and tablets to this, and it had the added bonus of being battery powered so we could take it out with us.

The large kitchen has all the modern facilities you would expect, dishwasher, washer/dryer, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer and an electric oven and hob. There are plenty of pots, pans and utensils for cooking with. Some of the basics have kindly been left, such as tea and coffee, sugar, condiments etc.

For an apartment block in Valencia it was quiet, you are at the bottom of the avenida Del Cid, one of the major roads into central Valencia, so the road out front is busy, but the double glazing blocked it out completely, though not tried by us there is air conditioning.

The location is ideal for much of Valencia on foot, with most tourist locations being a 10 to 20 minute walk. Plenty of local shops, as well as a large Mercadona supermarket just around the corner, open from 08:00 to 02:00 there’s a Supercor Expres 5 minutes up the road, be warned, unusually this store will not sell alcohol after 10pm.

The apartment was clean and nicely presented with just the right level between hotel and homely personalisation. The owner Luis was extremely helpful and friendly, and provided helpful guides of the area. My only criticism was the lack of a cafetiere, but I coped with the moka pot! Wholeheartedly recommend this apartment.

Owner's Response: Rafa, thanks for this review. So informative giving a clear picture of the ease in getting to the centre and the good communications there are from the flat. I'm pleased you managed to get in so much family time with your nearby Spanish relatives. Next time come on the quiet and enjoy more of Valencia, even though you know it so well! Beth said we needed a cafetiere so promise there'll be one for your next visit. Best wishes Luis

Owner's Response: Thank you Els. You are very generous and personal with your review. We are pleased you and your large party felt so positive over your stay as we work hard to ensure our guests need for nothing and leave with positive feelings. Having a garage space is something greatly valued by those coming by car as parking is very difficult in this popular suburb. Best wishes. Luis and Beth

Great apartment in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

Luis could not have been more helpful , directions given made it very easy to find only ten stops on the metro from the airport. The apartment was beautiful and very clean and only ten minutes walk from the fascinating old town of Valencia with lots of good bars and restaurants in the area.

We enjoyed are stay very much and where very sad when we had to leave.

Many thanks

From the Owner

We bought the flat for a number of reasons. Primarily as an investment, but to be near my mother when we visit her. We hope to cover costs and a little more. Short term letting allows us and our children and grandchildren to use it when vacant. It appealed to us as it was by far the best of the many we viewed with its stunning interior and comfort it affords. It is very handy for the city centre, and the many amazing sites it has.

Valencia has Malvarosa beach, about 4 miles from flat. It has a large expanse of sand and well served by many restaurants. Bus or taxi at about 14 Euros from the flat. The metro reaches the beach. The modern marina district is next to the beach, where the America's Cup was contested two years ago, and the formula 1 street race circuit feature.

Manises airport is about 4 miles from the front door, although also served by a metro from the terminal building. Taxi from airport set charge of 20 Euros, return 12 Euros. Angel Gimera underground station about 400 metres away. EasyJet serves Valencia from London Gatwick and cheap flights can be booked from around £75 return off peak. The metro reaches most parts of Valencia. Valencia has many taxis with a 4 Euro charge get you to the centre of town.

The famous Albufera, rice growing region is about 5 miles from the flat and a popular nature reserve. Boat trips on the lake recommended from El Palmar village where many restaurants serve Paella.

Other beaches at El Saler, and villages south to Cullera and Gandia, about 30 miles, for alternative places to visit.

Further Details:

The flat is close to local supermarkets and next to a large sport centre and 100 metres from swimming pool. Secure private car park also available. From the bull ring and main railway station, Estacion del Norte, a walk up Colon to El Corte Ingles takes you through the shopping centre of Valencia. El Corte Ingles is the Harrods of Valencia.
