Charming Grade II Listed Residence In The Heart Of Shipston On Stour, Perfect For Exploring Stratford Upon Avon, The Cotswolds and Central England
Sleeps 8 (max 7 adults + 1 child)
The Corner House is a charming Grade II listed four-bedroom period property in the centre of Shipston on Stour, dating back to the early 19th Century. It has been renovated to a high standard and is beautifully decorated throughout. The house has 3 floors and its layout is perfect for couples, families or groups. On the ground floor there is an elegant family dining room with wooden floor and period features. Opposite is a relaxing and cosy lounge with sumptuous velvet sofas and 32inch television with built in DVD. A large fully equipped kitchen with informal dining area is situated to the rear of the property with a shower room and toilet leading off. A handy utility room leads to a small sunny courtyard with table and chairs. On the 1st floor there is a large luxurious family bathroom with a bath and walk in shower. Bedroom 1 is a romantic large double-bedded room with dual aspect windows. Bedroom 2 is an elegant twin bedded room furnished with period pieces. Bedroom 3 is of smaller proportions and furnished with a pretty small single daybed with pull out trundle beneath. This room is best suited to younger guests due to the smaller dimensions of the room and the beds (standard length, small single width) . On the 2nd floor there is a large (height restricted in places) open plan attic with a double bed and seating area and luxury wash facilities. It has pleasant dual aspect views of the church tower and roofscape towards the Cotswold countryside. The spacious room has an elegant slipper bath and hand basin. The house was built around 1820, and typical of a property of this period it has many quirky features including some height restricted ceilings and doors. Many original features have been retained and the house provides a truly exceptional base for a short break or longer stay.
Conveniently situated right in the heart of Shipston On Stour, guests can enjoy the convenience of having a choice of small local supermarkets, independent retailers, pubs and eateries right on the doorstep. These are all within just a few minutes walk of the property. Shipston is a thriving historic market town lying approximately 9 miles from Stratford upon Avon town centre on the edge of the Cotswolds. There is plenty of unrestricted free parking available throughout the town, the closest car park being just a very short stroll from the property. In addition there are several unreserved parking spaces directly alongside the property. The property offers guests the best of both worlds; amenities within walking distance yet just a short drive from Stratford Upon Avon and the many beautiful Cotswolds villages and historic attractions. Complimentary wifi is provided. Bed linen and towels are included in rental rates (1 bath towel plus1 hand towel provided per guest).

About the Owner
We have owned this property with our extended family for a number of years and are delighted that so many of our guests now return year after year to create their own special family memories at The Corner House.
We consider it a great privilege to share our home with families and friends celebrating special family events and reunions. The Corner House is very much designed 'for families by families'.
Our own children grew up in and around the local area and have loved exploring the beauty and historic attractions that Warwickshire and The Cotswolds has to offer.
The property has been fully refurbished, and as this is also our family home, our philosophy has always been to make it somewhere that our guests can relax and feel completely at home.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Wow - amazing! This house is a perfect mix of history and modern day living. We were made so welcome (especially the children) with every detail thought of.
The Georgian dolls' house was particularly popular!
A great location with everything we needed right on the doorstep. We found it so handy for Stratford Upon Avon and visiting many of the Cotswold villages which really are as beautiful as I expected. The useful visitor information (including walk / cycle routes) and books were really helpful.
The perfect place for get togethers - we loved the formal dining room and the games tables! Everything we needed and more - highly recommended and so unique.

Wonderful house and location. Really want to say DITTO of others' experience. It was exceptionally clean and maintained, and fantastic facilities; Julie gets the gold medal for provision of toiletries and kitchen consumables. The description is perfect and a good selection of accurate photos. Its location is amazing. We did all the shopping in the town, which has a lots of independent shops AND two Co-ops! The Taste Of The Country shop in the Market Place is awesome. Pubs are lovely, and we did go in the Indian restaurant next door. Absolutely recommend this to a larger/ extended family/friends. Shipston on Stour is a great location for exploring the Cotswold too. Our Sunday was spent in Stratford on Avon. So good, we went twice during our one week stay.
Great base for touring the Cotswolds
This is a lovely home, beautifully decorated and with many thoughtful extras provided. I can't add much more to what other reviewers have already written about the house, but would like to add that the location is perfect for touring around the Cotswolds area. Coming from the US, we knew nothing about Shipston-on-Stour as it was not mentioned in our guidebooks. It is a charming town and the Corner House is right in the center, so you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. We were able to visit Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Cotswold villages, all very easily. Though, there is so much to do in the area, I feel as though we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended!
beautiful & welcoming home
6 ladies have just returned from this wonderful house. It is situated in a lovely town with plenty of small shops , bars and restaurants on your doorstep. It is beautifully decorated and extremely well appointed with everything you could possible need or want whilst away from home. The attention to detail is second to none. There are beautiful toiletries provided, the bedding is lush,it is immaculately clean, games , books, plenty of kitchen ware to use the list could keep on going. The owner was extremely helpful with the maps and directions and even accommodated a slightly early arrival time .I would recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in or around this area .I certainly hope to revisit this charming house again
We had a family holiday with 7 of us. This was the perfect place to stay. Our 2 & 5 yr old loved it as much as the adults. The house was perfect in every respect. I was worried about being right in town with noise. This was not a problem or an issue. We didn't hear any outside noise at all. Our children were catered for with toys and a room dedicated for them to sleep in. (They felt special) The house is beautifully decorated and was especially made up for Xmas season - just beautiful! There was a goodies basket left for the children. Our Nanna who had her 96th birthday celebrations here was given a lovely cake and rose plant. There were baskets in the bathrooms of lotions, soaps toothbrushes etc and a baby care basket too!! Everything is well thought of and you are made to feel like a special guest. The owner was fantastic to deal with too. I would highly recommend staying here in this beautiful village and this gorgeous house.
Lovely period house in a great location!
We stayed at the Corner House for the Shakespeare anniversary celebrations in Stratford-upon-Avon and it was a great base for exploring the area. The house is beautifully kept and with lots of attention to detail and has plenty of helpful features for those travelling with children - our toddler particularly enjoyed the dressing-up box and the dollshouse!
Cannot fault this house!
A superb property in a lovely location. The Corner House is beautifully presented and the attention to detail is outstanding. Everything you need for a relaxing stay is provided for from luxurious toiletries to a pint of milk in the fridge. Shipston is a lovely town with a variety of shops and eateries. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thanks Julie for a wonderful house and mini holiday!
