Charming Grade II Listed Residence In Shipston On Stour, Perfect For Exploring Stratford Upon Avon, The Cotswolds and Central England

The Corner House is a charming Grade II listed four-bedroom period property in the centre of Shipston on Stour, dating back to the early 19th Century. It has been renovated to a high standard and is beautifully decorated throughout. The house has 3 floors and its layout is perfect for couples, families or groups. On the ground floor there is an elegant family dining room with wooden floor and period features. Opposite is a relaxing and cosy lounge with sumptuous velvet sofas and 32inch television with built in DVD. A large fully equipped kitchen with informal dining area is situated to the rear of the property with a shower room and toilet leading off. A handy utility room leads to a small sunny courtyard with table and chairs. On the 1st floor there is a large luxurious family bathroom with a bath and walk in shower. Bedroom 1 is a romantic large double-bedded room with dual aspect windows. Bedroom 2 is an elegant twin bedded room furnished with period pieces. Bedroom 3 is of smaller proportions and furnished with a pretty small single daybed with pull out trundle beneath. The optional pull out trundle is suitable for a child (see image gallery) due to its smaller proportions (standard length, small single width) . On the 2nd floor there is a large (height restricted in places) open plan attic with a double bed and seating area and luxury wash facilities. It has pleasant dual aspect views of the church tower and roofscape towards the Cotswold countryside. The spacious room has an elegant slipper bath and hand basin (note no wc). The house was built around 1820, and typical of a property of this period it has many quirky features including some height restricted ceilings and doors. Many original features have been retained and the house provides a truly exceptional base for a short break or longer stay.

Conveniently situated right in the heart of Shipston On Stour, guests can enjoy the convenience of having a choice of small local supermarkets, independent retailers, pubs and eateries right on the doorstep. These are all within just a few minutes walk of the property. Shipston is a thriving historic market town lying approximately 9 miles from Stratford upon Avon town centre on the edge of the Cotswolds. There is plenty of free parking available throughout the town. There are several free unreserved parking spaces directly alongside the house. Alternatively the nearest free car park is just a short stroll away. The property offers guests the best of both worlds; amenities within walking distance yet just a short drive from Stratford Upon Avon and the many beautiful Cotswolds villages and historic attractions. Complimentary wifi is provided. Bed linen and towels are included in rental rates (1 bath towel plus1 hand towel provided per guest).

We have owned this property with our extended family for a number of years and are delighted that so many of our guests now return year after year to create their own special family memories at The Corner House.

We consider it a great privilege to share our home with families and friends celebrating special family events and reunions.The Corner House is very much designed 'for families by families'.

Our own children grew up in and around the local area and have loved exploring the beauty and historic attractions that Warwickshire and The Cotswolds has to offer.

The property has been fully refurbished, and as this is also our family home, our philosophy has always been to make it somewhere that our guests can relax and feel completely at home.

Everything about our stay was excellent.

The building, its decor and its contents is all very well finished, and everything is well laid out, and easy to find.

The owners were helpful during the run up to our stay, and were flexible with our check-in and out times.

It all made for a very stress free weekend away!

Spotless Georgian family friendly, beautiful home

This wonderful home is located in Shipston on Stour, a small village with a lot of character, the tea rooms nearby we visited, made you feel like you'd transported back in time.

Our family stay consisted of a few different ages of children, the toys in the home were very suitable for our 4, 8 & 14 year olds! Especially the board games which were enjoyed by all the family in the evenings. We visited Stratford during our stay, which is a 20 minute drive away, exploring lots of history.

When we arrived at the house, it was breathtaking! The decor was very elegant and everything was spotless.

The difference I found between this home and others I've stayed at was the attention to detail in absolutely everything.

There is Wi-Fi available, towels for all guests, drawers in the bathroom contain anything you may have forgotten, there are guides to all the appliances in the home, there is even some small torches hung up in case of an emergency. The owner clearly well looks after this home and thinks of everything a guest may need.

We celebrated my mum's 65th birthday here and loved every minute of it and I'm sure we will visit again due to the quality of the house, decoration, cleanliness and thoughtfulness of the owner. There was a hamper of essentials when we arrived including coffee, tea, sweets etc. and a birthday cake for my mum!

Finally the communication with Julie, the owner, has made this booking such a breeze. We had contact available to us for the whole weekend in case we needed anything, but of course we didn't as every base was already covered.

The perfect place to stay

We booked this house because it was exactly half way between ourselves in the South and our friends in the North. The reviews are all exactly right this house goes above and beyond all expectations.

It is extremely well set out for two families of four. It is decorated to the highest standard including all the lovely, tasteful Christmas decorations which made it feel so special. The facitilities are great with two bathrooms and all you need in a well resourced kitchen. We did a mixture of eating in and out and the location of the house made this work for us as well as it was in the centre of the little town close to all bars and restaurants.

The little extras and the amazing hamper made our stay as did the caring hospitality of the owner who made sure our stay was perfect in every way.

We would highly recommend this house to others.

Thank you Julie and Carl it allowed us to have a brilliant New Year with our best friends.

Stunning house lovely location

Our stay here was so lovely. The house is gorgeous and has everything you need. It was the little touches that really made the stay like hair dryers, bath room baskets with everything you would need from shower gel to shampoo. A welcome hamper which made us feel instantly at home. Thank you for having us and making us feel so welcome!! X

The fabulous Corner House

We took our family including our 2 grandchildren for a short break at the Corner House...what an absolute delight!

The house is beautiful...the children were delighted to find a dolls house, dressing up clothes & toys! The adults were equally delighted...with a lovely basket of goodies left for them.

Around the house we found baskets with nappies, shower gel...toothbrushes just about anything you might have forgotten.

From start to finish the owners kept in touch with us...providing us with everything we needed to know.

The house is immaculate with so many lovely touches.

Would highly recommend this property!
