Overview

Description

Maison Maroc sleeps 6

Sleeps 6. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom family home with private pool.

About the property

FR23624

This house has been completely refurbished in 2016 to produce a lovely comfortable family home with 3 bedrooms, 2 brand new bathrooms and various living spaces.

The terrace around the pool is completely private while the dining terrace can be seen by 2 neighbours who generally keep their windows closed all summer to keep the heat out!

On the first floor there is a kitchen / living / dining area leading onto an outdoor dining terrace plus a comfortable salon.

The dining terrace has an electric shade awning and outdoor dining table for 6.

Steps lead down from the dining terrace to the pool deck and further down to the Moroccan salon, a shady spot under the dining terrace.

Upstairs the master bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed (160X200) & high quality mattress. It has a dressing room and ensuite bathroom with Italian shower and double basins.

The second bedroom is also a double and the third bedroom can be set up as a superking sized double bed or two twins. There is also a bunkbed for extra little guests.

Philippe worked for 2 years in Morocco so we got to buy some fabulous pieces - we had the cedarwood bedhead made in Fez, fell in love with the filigree lights and bought several, the artwork in the kitchen, the copper tagine and most noticeably, the blue paint from Chefchaouen. Otherwise the house is a typical french village house with exposed stone walls, wooden beams and patterned floor tiles plus lots of wooden furniture in keeping with the age of the house (IKEA is only allowed in wardrobe areas!)

The house is not suitable for little kids as the stairs leading to the pool terrace are open tread and the entry to the pool is a ladder.

About Kerry Latchford

I have been living in Pouzolles for 9 years now and it's the best move I have ever made! Having lived in big cities - Dublin, London, Sydney, Melbourne - since finishing college the move to a small village in the South of France was strange at first but I couldn't go back to a city now. I walk my dog in the vines every day, see the seasons change, learn more and more about wine and the vines, enjoy seafood lunches at Bouzigues and Gruissan, swim in lakes and rivers and most of all, what still gives me a huge buzz, is being able to eat lunch outside in February! I met Philippe around 5 years ago and we decided we needed our own house to start life together, kept mine to rent out and embarked on this huge renovation project.

Kerry Latchford purchased this house in 2015

Why Kerry Latchford chose Pouzolles

We walked in and fell in love with it! We saw the shed at the back of the terrace could be opened up to give a courtyard and the potential was huge so we negotiated over a period of 5 months before being able to buy.

What makes this house unique

The completely private courtyard pool in the centre of a village, the South facin gterrace with little vis a vis and lots of birds! The easy walk to get to hundreds of walking routes in the vines.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great time in Pezenas and loved staying at the Couvent. It is a really enchanting place with its own swimming pool and huge apartments with loads of space to spread out and relax. I would highly recommend to anyone with children as well as there is a lovely central courtyard which is completely secluded. Hammocks, old trees and outside tables and chairs complete the magical feel to this lovely place. It's a really quick walk into lovely Pezenas town as well. I would definitely stay here again. (Sept 2013)

We had a really fantastic week in Pezenas, really loved the town, it is a great size and with our car spent lots of time exploring the local area especially once we had worked out the road system!!

We really LOVED the Couvent and would definitely return there, felt we could have done with at least another week so nice that we have now seen it and could come back. I guess the weather was perfect so we swam every day, loved the long evenings and loved being behind the wall and in the cool of the plane trees.

We followed lots of their suggestions, restaurants, markets etc. they were all great. We had a day cycling as well in Beziers, hired bikes at the top of the Canal du Midi, cycled about 6km to the next town for lunch and then back, that was spectacular and a great suggestion. It was an easy ride, all flat and so pretty. We also had a day kayaking at Roquebrun which was also lots of fun, worth the 1 hour drive to get there, Again it is not too strenuous, we did a 5km paddle but there were lots of other options. Part of the appeal of the area is all the things you stumble upon anyway and we really loved these.

We were travelling with our two teenage daughters who loved it all as much as us, were very keen to get to the markets in the morning for fresh fruit and the bakery for fresh bread and croissants.

So would love to say we will be back soon, would certainly recommend it to friends, in fact have some friends with a house nearby so have already told them for them to put visitors in. We were really sad to leave, for us it was a perfect week.

What a happy family time we had...spent the most idyllic 10 days at the Couvent with all 16 members of my extended family in June. Ages ranged from 4 months to 65yrs old..everyone was blissed out!! We occupied all 4 of the bright and airy apartments...well equipped and spacious. The caretakers were so sweet and accommodating but kept to themselves. It's such a heavenly space..beautiful well looked after gardens and great pool. When we felt like venturing out, we had delightful Pezenas a 5 minute walk away..there is a great hum around the town and plenty of places to eat or have a tipple. And oh those saturday markets!! So much delicious produce to choose from...fresh fish, delicious cheeses, fruit and vege…

Also rented bikes and cycled around neighbouring towns and vineyards..stunning scenery. Rent a car if you want to go further afield..lots to do in the region. Highly recommend the Cou
