18th Century Terraced Farm workers cottage, situated minutes away from the village square and beaches. Draystone is a 2 storey house, situated in the heart of Cawsand. The accommodation comprises 2 large bedrooms and a children's bunk room, large family bathroom on the first floor with sumptuous underfloor heating. The ground floor comprises of living room, dining area, separate WC , and kitchen leading to the enclosed patio area. The kitchen is fully equipped. A brief stroll of 2 minutes takes you down into the villages of Kingsand/Cawsand with their excellent selection of pubs and cafes, beaches and rock-pools. The property provides the ideal location from which to explore the beautiful Rame Peninsula via the meandering coastal paths to the secluded beaches of Whitsand Bay and Mount Edgcumbe House Estate.

We live in Western Australia with our dogs Lenny and Lucky. Having gone to college close by, as well as having friends in the villages, we bought Draystone and were fortunate enough to get married and live in Cawsand for a couple of years before work took us further afield.

What a fantastic lovely cottage

We had a fantastic holiday and stay at Draystone cottage.We Would like to say a big thank you to John Fiona and Jo the house manager for our lovely stay at the cottage.

I Would highly recommend telling friends and family about the cottage, which I feel is set in a perfect location.

There are plenty off things to do, maybe a coastal path walk a relaxing day on the beach or a short boat trip to Plymouth, that run a service from Cawsand beach.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful village

When we arrived at 11pm after travelling 8 hours with 2 young children we were amazed. The property was nice a warm awaiting our arrival. It was VERY well equipped which meant I could even do some baking with the children throughout the week.

The children loved the bunk beds. Both double rooms were very large with plenty of storage. The outside space was lovely as we were lucky enough in March to have a full week of sun!

The location of this property is brilliant it was literally a minute walk to the beach which we all loved. On the one night we did fancy a takeaway we had to go to the town 3 miles away but it was actually quite nice being away from our busy lives back home!

We went to Plymouth on the foot ferry from Cremyll which was pretty easy and quick. We were there mainly to watch my brothers passing out parade for the Royal Navy which was only a 15 minute drive away so a great location.

Overall I want to thank John and Fiona who are great at putting our mind at rest by communicating whenever we needed to. Also Jo is an absolute gem not only providing such a clean lovely house but also for finding an item which we lost and posting it to us!

We will be back. :-)

Perfect family cottage

We just loved our stay in Draystone. Great communication from afar with the owners who answered any queries we had promptly. The property was very well situated, close to the beach. It was clean, very thoughtfully equipped, lovely sunny back courtyard where we enjoyed breakfast and a great big kitchen table for family meals.

We have been to kingsand and Cawsand several times now and are never disappointed, never stuck for things to do and places to go. The children just love the freedom they can have in these villages which are largely traffic free. We love standing outside The Devonport, such a glorious view.

Highly recommended. Thank you John and Fiona.

A hidden gem

A big part of me doesn't want to give away the secret of this part of the world and Draystone but here goes....we've just returned from our second trip to this part of the world and it didn't disappoint. If you're after a full-on, action-packed holiday then the Rame Peninsula isn't for you. If you want a relaxed week away from it all where two beaches, four pubs and ice creams are never far away then this DEFINITELY is the place for you. The villages are virtually traffic free and perfect for family holidays.

Draystone is the perfect base Located in the heart of Cawsand, the property is set over three floors. Unlike some holiday properties that are a little "clinical", Draystone is very spacious, clean and tidy and really well equipped with everything you need. At the rear, there is an enclosed yard with a useful shed containing lots of beach "stuff", fridge etc. We will definitely be coming back!!

Great stay

Just back from a lovely stay here. The house is in a good location in the pretty village and is well equipped and clean. The sunny little courtyard at the back of the house was put to good use as we were lucky enough to have great weather! All communication with the owners was very good. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in this lovely area.

Well equipped property

Draystone is a lovely home and one of the best equipped we have ever stayed in. Despite the owners living in Australia, the customer service and communication has been excellent. We have never visited this area before but have loved exploring the villages, Mount Edgcumbe park and the wonderful Whitsand Bay. Cafes and pubs have also been frequented daily with every one serving delicious food and drink.

It's just a lovely place to live beside the sea, with lots of variety, whether walking along the coast path, paddling a kayak out in the Sound or relaxing outside one of the pubs or cafes.

Special interest holidays:

Excellent Mountain Biking to be had on Dartmoor.

Coast/Beach:

3 small pebble/sand beaches within 10 minutes walking distance of the property. Whitsand bay is 20 min by car, lovely long sandy beach, surfing and rock pools.

Lovely coastal path walks in either direction, Rame Head (Westwards), Edgcumbe Estate and Maker (Eastwards).

Travel:

Plymouth is the closest town, approximately 50min by road across the Tamar Bridge, or Torpoint Ferry. The closest railway station is St Germans or Liskeard approximately 25 mins by car. In summer it is possible to arrive by foot ferry from the Barbican, Plymouth. Plymouth/Newquay/Exeter are the best airports to arrive from. Plymouth - Roscoff Ferry terminal 50 mins by car.

Distances:

Eden Project at St Austell is 50 min away by car. Dartmoor and Exmoor are approximately an hour away. The historical city of Plymouth is a foot ferry ride from the beach in the summer, or 50 min by the Torpoint Ferry/Tamar Bridge.

Several excellent National Trust properties are close by, St Anthony, Lostwithiel, Lanhydrock, Cotele, and Saltram House. Plymouth has the historical Barbican, Aquarium, and Mayflower steps, as well as the Hoe, (Catch the foot ferry over from the beach in the summer).

Further Details:

Kingsand/Cawsand has a lovely vibrant community. The coastal scenery is spectacular. The local pubs all provide good food and local ale! The villages have a number of small shops to buy essential provisions. Fresh fish can ordered locally. The local pubs and cafes, I'd recommend them all for different reasons, but the Devonport, and Crossed Keys are recommended, and a walk or cycle ride to the Cliff Top Cafe at Freathy is not to be missed. The View at Freathy for fresh fish is excellent, (summer only).

Parking is close by the property in a public carpark, 5min walk away. Weekly tickets can be purchased (£35 Cornwall.gov website). Pick up and drop off outside the property is no problem.

Booking Notes:
Full payment must be received 8 weeks before booking date. Bookings will confirmed on receipt of funds to account. A damage deposit will be required. Cancellation within 1 month will only return 50%, unless the property is re-booked. Dogs will be charged. Excessive cleaning beyond normal will be charged.

Changeover Day:
Changeover is Saturday, the property should be vacated by 10:00 am, returned in a clean tidy manner. Incoming guests should be aim to arrive at 3:30 pm.

Guests should aim to minimise rubbish, and recycle.

Notes on prices:
Pricing includes linen, and towels for use inside the property. It does not include a refundable damage deposit, held against damage and excessive cleaning. No short stays of less than 1 week are considered. Discounts available for 2 weeks available.

Parking: There is no parking at the property, there is a public car park less than 3 mins walk away. It is possible to drop luggage off directly outside the property. See Cornwall Council car park website, weekly ticket ~ £36. Instructions for how to obtain weekly ticket will be sent to confirmed guests.

Payment to account given on booking instructions, which will be emailed to guests. 1 week given to confirm and pay deposit to secure booking, (50% of Total cost, Rental + Damage deposit). Remainder balance to be paid 4 weeks before booking commences. Refunds as per booking form, but will try to refund full amount when appropriate, or offer an alternative date.
