This lovely 18th century stone built Georgian cottage has been recently refurbished but still retains many of it's original Georgian features.The cottage offers warm, comfortable accommodation for four people. Storage heating throughout provides constant background heating while a multifuel stove in the lounge gives extra warmth on cool evenings.There is a garden to the front and the rear garden, which overlooks the beautiful Community Orchard,offers a place to sit and dine outside.

After leaving Art School, Ray and Jane Davies moved to Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, to raise their young family and to establish a new pottery studio in Reeth.Since then their work has developed to include a unique food product, driven by their passion for good design, pottery, gardens and growing food.

Fabulous cottage

Beautiful cottage with all you could possibly need to make a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Excellent location with walks for all abilities. Good local pubs and tea rooms. Perfect break for us would definitely recommend it.

Fabulous cottage

I brought my daughter aged 15 and my Mum, aged 76 here for a half term short break. it is always a juggle to get a place that suits us all. This little cottage fits the bill for everyone, downstairs shower room was ideal for Mum while the wood burner really heats the whole cottage and the storage heaters were adjustable to ensure Mum was always warm. The kitchen had everything we needed and the living room was so comfortable. The location is fantastic, walks from the door for me and daughter and lovely pubs and cafe for good food.

The owners are great, when the whole village had a power cut they arrived with more candles! The supply of wood and coal for the fire meant that we didn't have to worry about getting to a shop to top up.

Would we come back to the Haven...we don't usually return to cottages as there are so many new ones to experience, but in this case we all agreed that we would love to come back.

Truly amazing!

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Haven Cottage which more than lived up to its name. The owners Ray and Jane were very welcoming and great hosts making us feel at home straight away. They have decorated this cottage beautifully and it is extremely warm,clean comfortable and very well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in Reeth with it's many amenities and the surrounding countryside is stunning right on the doorstep. There are many walks direct from the cottage we went to the top of Fremington

Edge and looked down on Reeth which is breath taking. We also ventured further afield and did a walk from Thwaite via Keld and Muker which showed off the dales and many waterfalls to their best. The kids (and adults ) also enjoyed a great day out at the Forbidden Corner! All to return and crash at the end of the day with a glass of wine in front of the fire....bliss! I would definitely recommend this cottage to family and friends and would also recommend visiting the owners pottery shop across from the cottage we have returned home with a gorgeous vase made by Ray which looks fab in my kitchen! This cottage and location has everything you could ask for for a trip away in the dales we will definitely be back!! Thank you for sharing your amazing cottage !

Coast/Beach:

Whitby (70 miles). Scarborough (85 miles). Blackpool (90 miles) The Northumberland coast is a two hour drive north on the A1.

Travel:

Nearest airports are Durham Tees valley, Newcastle Airport and Leeds Bradford. The nearest mainline train stations are Darlington and Northallerton. Buses run from Richmond every day during the summer and weekdays only in the winter. Despite the travel services available, car use is recommended in this rural location.

Distances:

Richmond 10 miles, Swimming Baths, Cinema, Georgian Theatre. Leyburn 7 miles. Wensleydale railway. Hawes 15 miles, Countryside Museum, Ropemakers, Wensleydale Cheese Barnard Castle 20 miles, Castle Bowes Museum, antique shops. Darlington 25 miles.(Main line station) Main shopping centre

All fuel and linen included. Unfortunately, no smoking and no pets. As a place in which to base your holiday, Reeth is ideal. Positioned about half way along the coast to coast walk, there are many short circular walks as well as longer treks, or you may prefer to hire a bike at the nearby Dales Bike Centre and test your stamina on the route of the Grand Depart 2014, which passed through Reeth. You can picnic on the banks of the Swale, shop in the many small craft workers shops; spend time in one of the coffee shops or galleries or relax in the beautiful Community Orchard. There are many excellent places to eat in and around Reeth. If, however, you would like to eat in but don't feel like cooking, we can offer a bespoke meals service provided by a professional cook.
