Corton Villas are located in the tranquil Waterside Holiday Park at Corton (a small coastal village 3 miles north of Lowestoft on the Suffolk/Norfolk border).

Corton is also home to the popular tourist attraction of Pleasurewood Hills and nearby are the long, golden sandy beaches of Hopton and Gorleston-on-sea. The cliffs and beach at Corton form part of a stretch of Suffolk coastline known as the 'Sunrise Coast' and Ness-Point in Lowestoft is the UK's most easterly point - which means guests at our Self Catering Holiday Accommodation can be among the first to greet the sun.

The local area is full of market towns such as Beccles and Halesworth, quaint villages such as Somerleyton and of colour-washed, thatched cottages and numerous historic churches and Cathedrals. There are miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches to explore and enjoy along the curving coastline of the Norfolk and Suffolk shores and further inland are the spectacular Norfolk and Suffolk Broads (Britain's largest protected wetland and third largest inland waterway, with the status of a national park).

There are many other attractions and places of interest and whether your interest lies in historic buildings, wildlife parks, military museums, working steam railways or just a relaxing day by the sea, there will always be something for the new or returning visitor to enjoy. This small simply property was exceptionally clean and pleasingly decorated. The goody parcel on arrival was very much appreciated. The heating worked very well and the villa was cosy. The location is good, being close to the supermarket and a pub and takeaway. It is a short walk to Corton beach; but beware, this is rather wave ravaged with warning signs not to swim and the path by the sea is sometimes covered by water (it would have been good to know the code the gate that leads to the beach). The cottage is very close driving distance from Lowestoft. The swimming pool is lovely -- warm and large and often not very busy.

Those staying ought to be aware that the walls are thin and so you can hear each other in the villa and also the neighbours. All the neighbours were very courteous and pretty quiet, though.

A great place to stay

A delightful holiday property that had everything you could need. Spotlessly clean, warm, fresh and well maintained, with some lovely welcoming touches. The location was quiet and the people friendly and there were good on-site facilities. The villa had WiFi which worked very well, although only one device can connect at a time. (Remember to bookmark the connection page though!),

We can strongly recommend the Chinese restaurant opposite the main entrance.

The owner was friendly and easy to contact, responding quickly to queries. We would have no hesitation in recommending the property to anyone thinking of visiting the area.

Waterside Holiday Park is ideally suited to couples and families alike and our cottage style villa provides a superb base from which to explore the wide variety of places to visit, including stately homes (such as the nearby Somerleyton Hall a stunning Tudor-Jacobean Manor) or the many local attractions such as Pleasurewood Hills and Africa Alive and of course, the beautiful Norfolk and Suffolk Broads. Numerous delightful seaside towns and villages, the many award winning beaches and the fun-packed resort of Great Yarmouth.

Nearest Airport : Norwich at 22 Miles Nearest Golf : Gorleston at 6 Miles Nearest Train : Lowestoft at 3.5 Miles Nearest Beach : Corton at 0.5 Miles Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

There is direct access to Corton Sands from Waterside Holiday Park (less than 5 minutes walking) this access is via steep steps, easier access is a 15 minute walk away. However, Corton beach is not expansive especially during high tide and a much nicer, family friendly beach can be found at Gorleston (about 15 minutes by car - approx. 6 miles from Corton). There are also good beaches at Lowestoft (approx. 3 miles from Corton) and Great Yarmouth (approx. 8 miles from Corton).

Travel:

We would recommend the use of a car, although there is a regular bus service with drop offs and pick ups just outside the entrance to the Holiday Park.

The nearest Airport is Norwich (approx. 30 miles) and the nearest Train station is at Lowestoft (approx. 3 miles).

Distances:

Waterside Holiday Park just 3 miles north of Lowestoft, 4 miles east of Oulton Broad and about 8 miles south of Great Yarmouth.

Further Details:

There is a local shop at the entrance to Waterside Holiday Park and a large Tesco store is just 5 minutes (1.6 miles) drive away.

Waterside Holiday Park has it's own Bar & Grill, there is also the White Horse P.H. (which serves food) and The New China (Chinese take-a-way) both located across the road from the Park.

  • Notes on accommodation: Our mattresses are manufactured in Britain by award winning Hypnos Ltd., they have double tempered pocket springs and meet the more stringent (as required by law) BS 7177 (Medium Hazard) Ignition Source 5 (Crib 5) Fire Retardancy standards for holiday camp chalet use. Outside: All our Villas have their own gated decking area with table and chairs and adjoins a large lawned garden. Within the grounds of Waterside Holiday Park there is a small crazy golf, a children's play area with adjoining seated decking area. The very popular heated swimming pool (24.3 metres x 7.8 metres) has a child friendly shallow entry (the deep end is 1.2 metres) and on-duty life guards. A newly constructed pool enclosure now allows for use of the pool in all weathers.
