An open fronted stone barn is situated close to the swimming pool inside of which there is a large extendible table with ample seating and a full sized table tennis table.

Around the swimming pool you will find a paved area with reclining loungers and a BBQ nearby.

A large private parking area with an open fronted stone barn to accommodate a further two cars flanks the garden with outside lighting throughout the grounds, outbuildings and in the private courtyard with outside seating plus the pool is fitted with lights to facilitate evening swimming.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed a fantastic two weeks at La Vielle Ferme in August 2014. The house was one of the very best we have stayed in over many years of holidaying in France. The house has been refurbished to a high spec with a beautiful kitchen, outdoor eating area and large swimming pool. The owners were extremely helpful throughout our stay and the bed linen, towels and all amenities provided were to a very high standard. Not only is the house beautiful but the surrounding area is stunning with many places to visit for families. There were 6 adults and 6 children in our party and it was perfect for us.

I cannot recommend La Vielle Ferme highly enough. We have stayed in this beautiful region of France the last few years, and this is our best experience. Andrew and Diana could not have been better hosts. If they offer a tour of the surrounding area in their 4x4, grab it!

The house is amazing, website photos do not do it justice. Our group consisted of three families and the way the house is designed it is easy to section off into seperate areas for privacy. Everything inside and outside the house is finished to an exceptional standard, plenty of kitchen utensils, towels etc. which is unusual in rental properties.

There are lots of fantastic towns and villages nearby to visit, the water sports and mountain- biking in St. Antonin worth checking out. Cordes-sur-ciel is one of the most beautiful villages we've been to and the closest village Varen is lovely too, it has a fantastic river for swimming in. Andrew and Diana provided us with lots of information and are so enthusiastic about the french way of life.

We hope to return again soon..

Summer 2016

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't have asked for better - the house inside and outside was ideal.

Andrew and Diana were great with info pre- and post-arrival and being so close by popped by a few times to see how we were getting on and if we needed anything.

We loved:

- how well it accommodated 3 families (6 adults and 6 kids - aged 1-6)

- pool, lawn and table tennis for endless kid entertainment

- covered outdoor dining area which encouraged late night star gazing

- beautiful views on all sides of open countryside

- whilst being relatively secluded (car needed) there were lovely towns/ villages in easy reach (St Antonin Noble Val & Courdes)

- local river based activities - we found kayaking and inflatables (life guarded) within 20 mins drive

Super house, ultra helpful owners and magnificent

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay because the house has everything we needed; well equipped, well located, great garden for our dogs to roam around safely, large pool and above all else, the most friendly and helpful owners you could ever wish to meet. Andrew and Diana really are enthusiastic hosts and we have not experienced anything comparable in our 15 years of renting in France.

A 5* Star Farmhouse in a 5* Star location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in La Vieille Ferme in June 2016 and found the farmhouse to be of exceptional quality and renovated to standard way beyond what one would expect of a holiday home. The owners Andrew and Diana were extremely helpful and they went out of their way to be as accommodating as possible which was much appreciated as we have a young child of 11 months and with their guidance we were able to visit places that otherwise we would never have found.

La Vieille Ferme is a large farmhouse with six characterful bedrooms with three bathrooms all with vaulted ceilings and there was always a supply of hot water for the showers which is not always the case in rental properties. The swimming pool is large and secured by pool alarms with a perimeter fence and can only be accessed via a childproof locked gate which takes away the worry for parents with youngsters who cannot swim. Most unusual to find a rental property which supplies pool towels as well as bath towels and the washing machine in the utility room was a blessing which enabled us to return to the UK with no dirty washing.

We sat most evening in the open barn eating dinner watching the sunsets which were truly incredible. When it fell dark we loved looking up into the clear skies counting shooting stars and were amazed by the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the medieval towns perched on the top of hills and the edge of gorges.

We only stayed for a week and although the time passed quickly we all had such a fabulous time that we are already planning to return next year.

The locals are friendly and polite, the villages are steeped in history, the river in Varen is special, the boulangerie has contributed to our expanding waistlines, the food and local produce found in the markets is fresh and tasty, the restaurants are inexpensive, the local Gaillac wine has to be sampled, kayaking from St.Antonin down the gorges is an experience not to be missed and La Vieille Ferme is without doubt the place to stay.

Having rented numerous French rental properties over the years La Vieille Ferme is our firm favourite and we thoroughly recommend this property and the kindness of the owners to all future people considering staying here.

Our group consisted of 8 adults and 3 children, we had a lovely two week stay at La Vielle Ferme late August 2015. During the booking process Andrew and Diana were super helpful and gave us lots of information on sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, fishing, kayaking etc. At our request they also booked us into a restaurant for Sunday lunch which took the pressure of worrying about shopping at the start of our holiday. Andrew phoned me en-route to say we could get in to the farmhouse a little earlier than the scheduled 4pm arrival which was a blessing when travelling with young children. Upon arrival Andrew was there to greet us and show us around the farmhouse and explain what we needed to know and there was also a generous welcome pack of fruit, bread, milk , children’s drinks and most importantly wine. The farmhouse is set in lovely countryside, Cambou a small friendly hamlet of several farmhouses and a 2/3 minute drive into the town of Varen which has a bar, pharmacy, bakers, well stocked corner shop, pizzeria and a restaurant, there is another small town just as close called Verfeil which has a bar and restaurant which we sadly didn’t manage to visit during our stay. The farmhouse itself had ample parking for our 4 cars, as you enter through the garden you immediately see how big and spacious the house is, downstairs you have 1 bedroom, a well equipped kitchen/diner, sitting room, cloakroom, upstairs has five bedrooms and three bathrooms, all the bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms have good power showers with plenty of hot water. Off the kitchen diner to one-side is a secure courtyard and utility area so no need to bring any dirty washing home! The other side of the kitchen/diner leads out to a large secure garden and fenced pool area which has plenty of loungers, chairs and is alarmed, we brought a paddling pool for the toddlers which proved very useful. The outside space is great for keeping a close eye on children and pet dogs, they can run around and there were no escapees during our fortnight. The garden has a covered area which has a large BBQ and a 12 seat dining table and chairs, it is well lit so great for evening drinks and alfresco dining, there is also a good table tennis table. Tarn et Garonne has some stunning towns and scenery to take in, you’ll get to see and do a lot in two weeks but by no means can you cover it all. Andrew and Diana are excellent hosts and really went the extra mile during our stay.

Beautiful farmhouse with lovely pool

  • 5 of 5

Lovely farmhouse in village setting within a few minutes drive of small local bakeries and restaurants. Greeted with a fruit basket and bottle of local wine by the owners who gave a quick overview of the house facilities and activities in the area. Great house for large family or two with large pool and great outside sitting and eating area. House was very clean, with crisp bed linen, pool towels provided and excellent hot, power showers. Well stocked kitchen/dining room and large bbq outside. We had a lovely week at the house and the owners were very helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend this holiday house to anyone looking to explore the local Tarn area - which is extremely beautiful.
