Comfortable quiet, spacious house in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

5 friends on a long weekend in April 2017.

We loved the large communal area with log burner, the free standing bath and the beautiful birdsong from the many birds outside.

Very reasonable rates for the size and comfort of the house.

Lovely countryside surroundings and an easy drive into Ludlow.

Everything was provided - towels, kitchen utensils, barbecue, bubble bath and much else.

Beautiful cottage in beautifully quiet location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is really well equipped and cosy too. It feels really private with it's private courtyard garden and was perfect for an evening BBQ. Everything had a luxury feel from the decor to the quality bedding, with extras like hairdryers, liquid soap etc supplied.

There were lots of walks from the door but very poor on footpath signage in this area but locals pointed us in the right location. We were lucky enough to meet Karen, who runs a micro brewery on our walk and she showed us her micro brewery which was great.

Our favourite two days were the waterfall at long mend and the three castles walk with lunch at the tally ho inn, Bouldon, great food! We were so lucky to have fabulous weather :-)

Stylish,Spacious,Cosy and Comfortable

Court Cottage surpassed our expectations for a holiday cottage. It is furnished with flair and imagination with beautiful decorative antiques and objects d'art in every room. The beds and pillows and linens were of high quality which enabled good and restful sleep. Our stay was during the first week of February and the efficient wood burning stove was an added bonus. Plenty of logs and kindling were provided by the owner and already set up on the hearth. This was very much appreciated, because some houses we have rented in the past only provide the first nights logs. The central heating radiators were actually efficient enough to warm the cottage, but we loved the ambience of the flames in the stove...even if we then decided to turn the thermostats down on the radiators .Although the cottage is actually a wing of the owners house,it was very private, with its own large courtyard ,surrounded with borders and lawns and not overlooked by the main house at all. We were able to take our dog too, which was an important element in our case. Dogs welcome on the ground floor level...not in the bedrooms, which we think is a sensible request for all.We loved the dog walks in Mortimer forest, which is a short drive from Ludlow and everywhere we went ,including pubs and eating places,we were made to feel very welcome.People in the area are really friendly folk. We would highly recommend this property to others who enjoy nice looking lamp lit interiors. We went as a couple with one dog,but we think the property would work equally well for two couples wanting to be in the countryside and yet just 15 minutes drive from delightful Ludlow.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The cottage is cosy whatever the weather, it is well insulated and has central heating throughout and a wood-burning stove in the main sitting room. The whole cottage was refurbished in 2013/14 with new kitchen and bathrooms and extra lighting. The decoration is to the highest standards, using natural paints. The cottage has been furnished as if it is the owner’s own home with fresh flowers, comfortable beds, lovely pictures and antiques. Outside: The cottage is approached through a set of gates at the end of country lane, it has a large private courtyard with ample parking. The courtyard has gates making it secure if you have well behaved dogs in your party. Outside there is a large barn for storage which would be an ideal place to keep bikes. The patio area can host barbecues and high tea in the summer months. The backdrop to the courtyard is a large Georgian listed stable block. The views are fantastic and the location is very peaceful, often the only sound is birdsong. The garden are well presented and fragrant with Roses, Cosmos and Hollyhocks. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Beds are made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and the towels are soft and fluffy. There is an option of a mid-week clean and linen change at an extra charge. Other: The second floor opens from the stairs into a second sitting or reading room with fantastic views over surrounding countryside. There is a sofa, a comfy armchair and we can provide a camp bed and/or cot with all bedding.
