About the property

Villa Ester Nr Kalami, - Peaceful Location with the best view in Corfu

Villa Ester has just undergone the second & final phase of it's renovation program which now completed has resulted in a four bedroom super luxury villa of a standard fitting to the most discerning of clientele. The views from Villa Ester are simply breathtaking. Overlooking the bays of Kouloura, Kalami & Agni, one is simply mesmerised by the beauty of this stunning area of Corfu.

The British owners of Villa Ester have enjoyed many years of family holidays here and our own sister Company in Corfu 'Prestige Villa Management' have transformed what was once a traditional house into a modern home with every convenience we expect from a villa today. The whole of the house has completely changed with narrow windows being replaced with wall to wall glass, surrounded with hand chipped stone. The original small veranda has been demolished and replaced with a large new stone veranda and pergola and patios paved with natural stone. Five bedrooms and three bathrooms has now been transformed to a stunning four bedroom with five super contemporary bathrooms.

This detached property is ideal for two families as there are two Master Bedrooms and two further twin rooms all with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms have French Windows and stunning Sea Views. Air Conditioned and with WiFi it will tick all the boxes for the modern family holiday.

The swimming pool is to the side of the property and also enjoys panoramic views from the vast patio areas surrounding it. Plenty of sun loungers and two super large Parasols and trees for shade. Evenings can be enjoyed sitting under the covered veranda watching the super yachts below and for guests who enjoy the eating at home during the evenings there is BBQ set in stone & granite and a bar area with tall stools for a social evening you won't forget.

Lovely Villa with Stunning Views

  • 4 of 5

After your climb up a steep winding road you eventually reach Villa Ester from which the views are nothing short of spectacular overlooking Kouloura and Kalami. With plenty of outdoor seating, there is plenty of opportunity to take in these views with early morning being particularly pleasant.

The villa itself is a single storey building with the open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area having been refurbished to an extremely high standard and being extremely well furnished. If there is any criticism at all, I would say the garden walls at the rear of the villa need to be re-painted and I would like to see the towels and bed linen changed even for stays of 7 nights - they are currently only changed on stays of 10 nights or more.

The location of the villa is ideal with a number of great tavernas nearby - those I would particularly recommend are The White House in Kalami, Tavernaki in Kassioppi and Taverna Nickolas in Agni.

All in all a great holiday in a great villa and we are definitely going back next year providing we are not too late!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to post your positive review. They are always really appreciated whether they be positive or negative. Really glad you enjoyed your stay, and next year I am sure you will see lots of improvements. The owners are planning to complete the refurbishment to bring the bedroom and bathroom accommodation up to the same standard as the rest of the villa with more natural stone to cover that rear wall which they realise does need attention. We are also going to recommend to the owners of Villa Ester a mid week clean for stays of 7 nights with a change of bedding during your stay. Thanks again and hope very much to see you in Corfu in 2017!! With best wishes Jane and the team.

Hugely disappointing

  • 3 of 5

Villa Ester was very disappointing, we had no water at all on arrival and it took 24 hours to actually be able to shower, flush a toilet or wash our hands . Water was delivered but only enough for a couple of days . The silt from the bottom of the tank caused the bathroom drains to block and then flood the whole bathroom with water seeping into the hall . We ran out of water yet again and in total out of 14 days we had no water for 4 of those .

I got an electric shock whilst in the shower and the whole villas electrics went out , this then happened several times and eventually we had no electric for the last evening at all which meant no air con , no wifi to organise homeward plans, no lights for children to go to the yet again non-flushing toilets . The blinds wouldn't work so we couldn't see the one redeeming feature ....the view ( which is amazing )

Over all this is the worst villa we have stayed in on our 7 visits to the island . The bedrooms and definitely the bathrooms are tired and need attention, the sink in our bathroom had no cold feed so when there was water it was too hot to wash your hands !

Prestige Villas have made no attempt to address our request for some form of compensation , we paid a lot of money for two weeks in a five star villa - this was not what we experienced.

I would not recommend this villa to anyone .

Owner's Response: Villa Ester has recently been upgraded from a three star property on our website to a four star property following it's extensive refurbishment last year which I am sure you will agree is excellent,. Never have we advertised it as a five star villa and only next year when the refurbishment program is complete will it then be advertised as such. We have had many satisfied guests staying at Villa Ester again this year (three families of which have re-booked for next summer already, one of which it will be their third visit). It is with great regret that your family and others in the area have been caught up in the water problem this summer, parts of the North East coast of Corfu are now into their 11th week of no municipal water. Most villas have enormous underground water tanks as has Villa Ester. It was with regret that on the day of your arrival the underground water tank had eventually emptied. You reported it late that evening on your first day and we had a full tanker of water delivered immediately, as we did on the second occasion it ran dry. On each occasion you reported a maintenance issue you have to agree that we acted promptly and efficiently and on one very late night call from you at around 11.30pm at night our plumber was with you by mid-night. I believe that is excellent service. Regarding the electricity issue, we were not aware of you suffering an electric shock from the shower, nobody has reported that problem prior to and since, neither did you during your stay. You are fully aware that the loss of power on your last evening was due to an area fault. One of the three phases was down with the local Electrical Company resulting in partial loss of power to not only Villa Ester but all the properties from Barbati up to Vingla on that same supply. We did explain this to you during your call after midnight. The following morning we woke to a number of messages from other guests in the area who felt it better to report the fault by email and SMS taking into account the extremely late hour. I am sorry to read that you wouldn't recommend Villa Ester to anyone, it is a shame for future guests to read that. The problems you encountered during your stay were not down to the villa or ourselves and we all worked extremely hard to resolve them. Kind regards Jane Sharpe Prestige Villas of Corfu, the owners of Villa Ester & the team

Best view in Corfu

  • 4 of 5

The property is ideally positioned with fantastic views. The property is well maintained and clean. With bedrooms and bathrooms equally distributed at each end of the villa separated by the open plan kitchen and reception room provides an ideal configuration. A perfect location with easy access to local attractions such as water sports and excellent restaurants. Strongly recommended.

Spacious villa, astonishing view

  • 4 of 5

The 1,100 meters from the main road to Villa Ester is quite uneven like many roads in Corfu. The road climbs steeply with several hair pin bends winding around olive groves and a small number of other villas. The views when you reach Villa Ester however are nothing short of spectacular, from Corfu town to the south to beyond Kaloura in the north and across the busy sea channel to Albania in the east. It is quite possible to spend hours on the terrace and study this view with a pair of binoculars - early morning and evening are particularly beautiful.

The villa itself is a single storey building which is built end on to the road. It has undergone significant recent improvements most notably in the kitchen reception room and on the long stone terrace. All of this is very well done making for a very comfortable stay and allowing full advantage to be taken of that view.

We had a few small issues while we were there but Prestige Villas addressed each of them very promptly. Whilst a car is absolutely essential we rapidly became accustomed to the road and the drive. In addition we were surprised to find Ester's position more convenient than being down in one of the bays where we have stayed in previous years, because from Ester we could reach a number of bays in just a few minutes, and Kassiopi itself within 10 minutes. All in all it was great and so we are going back.

Villa Ester - as lovely as we remembered it!

  • 5 of 5

We returned to the lovely Villa Ester for the second year running which is always a bit risky - would it be as good as last year, etc. We had no need to worry, it was as we remembered it. Beautiful setting, gorgeous villa, very comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. So great that you don't have to bring towels (bath towels, hand towels, pool towers all provided), that there is a washing machine to use, that there are plastic glasses to use round the pool, that there are so many options for enjoying the outside. In fact this year, it was better, as we knew where everything was and how everything worked. The minute we opened the gate, we felt at home. Last year we didn't use the TV, but wanted to this year. We couldn't get it to work, could some instructions be left in the villa for next time please. Apologies if they were and we just didn't find them. We didn't bother getting in touch during our stay about this as it wasn't so important to us, but we know that had we have done, we would have been given prompt assistance. Car hire arrangements made for us were hassle free, we met Yiannis again at the airport and it was all straightforward and simple. Jane was as helpful as ever before and during our stay, responding to our little questions such as is there a cafetiere in the villa (there is, by the way). So much is great about this villa, including being picked up and dropped off if you eat at Dimitri's restaurant just down the road. Plate smashing, traditional music and Greek dancing thrown in too. If there is any constructive criticism at all, and I am struggling slightly here, it would be could previous occupants clean the barbeque, and if the garden walls at the back of the villa could be repainted, it would make them as lovely and white as they were last year. It would also be helpful to have a speaker that we could plug our phones into so we could have music outside. We brought our own from home so no problem and we are being fussy! 8 ladies had a great, relaxing holiday and we're looking forward to our third return to the villa in the future.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review and so glad you enjoyed your holiday again!! Points noted and we'll speak to Eric & Julia the owners to ask about re-painting the back driveway wall and getting a speaker. Oops regarding the BBQ, that was the Housekeeper's responsibility, I think due to the torrential rain we had on that changeover day she didn't check it!! You will be pleased to know that from tomorrow the villa will have Internet TV installed with all the UK Channels on it (inc BBC & ITV amongst many others). Thanks again for taking the time to give us another positive review Kim, keep in touch!! Jane & the team

Stunning views

  • 4 of 5

We had a fabulous 2 week holiday at Villa Ester and I would definitely recommend it to friends. We were a party of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 8 to 16 years and we all thought the villa was excellent. Obviously the view is its key feature and was just amazing. It is situated in a great part of the island and I can see why that area is known as Kensington on Sea. The villa was very clean and tidy on arrival and the new kitchen looked great. All the cups, utensils, cutlery, etc, were very clean and nicely arranged in the cupboards. A great job was done on the recent refurbishment. The only downside was the unreliable WiFi but I gather that is because the telephone company are upgrading the system. Jane, who manages the property, was very helpful both before and during the holiday.
