Cosy Lakeland Slate Cottage In The Heart Of Keswick

Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Dec-2016
2 bedroom cottage in Keswick - Quiet Location In Easy Walking Distance Of The Town Centre, Lake & Stunning Mountain Walks

We completed renovating Wingrove Cottage in as our holiday home in Autumn 2014 and have put a lot of thought into how the cottage works to make a break in the Lake District as enjoyable as possible. There's a warming log burner in the cosy sitting room where you can settle down to relax after a hard day's walking or mooching around the many interesting shops in Keswick. The dining room is the perfect place to enjoy a home cooked meal or a board-game if the lakeland weather is too much. The kitchen is well equipped whether you intend to spend your holiday making no more than tea or if you are planning to bake & create. Upstairs, there's two bedrooms and a stunning large bathroom with free-standing bath and a large separate shower. If the weather permits, there's a small yard at the rear. There's free wifi available throughout the house.

About the Owner

Bill & Belinda bought Wingrove Cottage in late 2013, realising a long-held dream of Bill's to own a property in the Lakes where he grew up. The house has been lovingly refurbished to provide a holiday home for our family and hopefully a great holiday experience for those renting it. We love all that Keswick has to offer, especially the mountains and the lake both of which are lacking in our usual place of residence, Essex!

Lovely, very well equipped and handily located

This cottage is a real home from home: it's warm, cosy, and beautifully decorated; the owner is friendly and helpful, and there's everything you could need (kitchen cupboard essentials, etc) for a successful stay, even a bottle of wine on arrival! We had a lovely time.

I think the house is the perfect set up for families, where two children would happily share the small twin room while their parents luxuriated in the larger (very large and lovely) front room.

However, we visited with my parents, so my husband and I and our son had the large room and my parents were in the twin room, with limited space for clothes etc. We did have a fantastic time though and this was only a minor issue which we were aware of before booking.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review of the cottage. I'm pleased you had a lovely time and accept that the second bedroom is not the largest and probably better for small people!!

Location

From the Owner

Keswick was the perfect place for us to buy a holiday home as it brought Bill back closer to where he grew up, with many happy hours spent sailing on nearby Bassenthwaite Lake. Our children love the freedom that this small friendly town allows them and we all enjoy all the outdoor activities that are so accessible from here.

Facilities

From the Owner

We've created a lovely light modern space whilst respecting the period features of the cottage. There's easy street parking on a road that isn't a thoroughfare (it's quieter than the village at home!). We've thought carefully about what we want to enjoy when we visit and hope that all our guests appreciate the little touches which we hope will make every stay at Wingrove Cottage extra special.
