About the Owner

Welcome to Petite Chateau from Andy and Chris.Andy is a carpenter and joiner and Chris works for the civil service. We bought the house in 2010 as we had 16 years before retirement and we had travelled to different places on holiday in the world including renting cottages in the UK, we decided we would like to have a holiday home in the sun and make it a home from home and use it as a base to explore the South of France. We like our home comforts as you will soon discover if you ever visit. We are not residents in France but visit whenever we can. Now it is completed we are looking forward to spending time relaxing and enjoying the surroundings and some of the many local wines.

Petite Chateau...A Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Our overall impression of this property was that it was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. Very rare to get three out of three but you do here. A lot of thought has gone into making this home special, thank you Andy & Chris for making it so. Capendu is a lovely village, and after acquainting ourselves with the surrounding area, we felt very much at home here. Two weeks went by in a flash, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

A Sunny November Breakw

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful little house with its sunny roof terrace. Chris and Andy couldn't have been more helpful given three days notice of me wanting to visit. They even let me arrive a day early. The interior was beautifully renovated and well-equipped; close to shops etc. The area was near to little mediaeval villages and the Canal du Midi. Five stars from me! Thank you. What a wonderful house in prime position for exploring the many places of interest in the area. We have visited this area a number of times and stayed North of Carcassonne but we really felt the benefit of being East which allowed us to get to our favourite places much quicker. Access to the major roads in the area is so convenient. The village itself is impressive with all the facilities you need to enjoy a holiday , swimming pool, wine tasting, good restaurants and small but friendly shops.

The house is immaculate and the evenings spent on the roof terrace drinking the local wine will be long remembered.

Thanks Andy and Chris for a great holiday

Exceptional Location

  • 5 of 5

The location for Petite Chateau is in an exceptionally interesting region. Located close to Carcassonne with its outstanding medieval links, it is a must for anyone visiting the area. Also located near Narbonne, another interesting and vibrant city.

The nearby Canal du Midi offers another interesting location and is one of the outstanding features of the region. A variety of trips on the canal can be accessed.

Then there are numerous seaside locations on the Med and are easily accessed by good road networks. The countryside around also abounds with vineyards and lots of places to sample the local wines.

So historically and geographically the region has lots to offer- Pyrenees Spain etc.

Le Petite Chateau is a superb place of residence that has to be experienced. It has so much character and the fittings and decor of all the rooms add up to a place that deserves respect, and a feeling of being at home.

This is a place that made us feel comfortable and also very special.

Totally relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

A really lovely peaceful village, would highly recommend a wander round, especially for their crusty bread in a morning and their wine is nice too!!! On our arrival we were all so excited to see what was behind the doors, we instantly felt at home. It is immaculate, the decor is all tasteful and up to date and it feels so homely. It is a perfect holiday home to be able to spend quality time together as a family, there are lots of DVD's, CD's and games available and it is spacious enough for everyone to do their own thing if needed. The kids thought it was an adventure everyday making their way to the roof terrace via the turret! A car is essential to fully appreciate the area.

From the Owner

We chose the city of Carcassonne with its airport only 25 minutes drive away from Capendu which was where we found the house we now call Petite Chateau, full of character and a warm homely feel as you walk through the house. Over the last 4 years we have lovingly restored the house to give it a new lease of life. It has been a labour of love for us and all the work has been carried out by ourselves apart from the plumbing and electrical re-wiring as qualified tradesmen were used to do this. It is an ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside and mountains of the local area to the beautiful beaches of the mediterranean sea. We now look forward to using the house ourselves for holidays and are happy to let the house out for people to enjoy.
