About the property

House in Pett, Nr. Hastings, Sussex, England - Beautiful Location Situated Between Two Country Pubs And Near To The Beach And Woodlands

Beautiful five bedroom house in the village of Pett, East Sussex. The property has a large garden with terrace area perfect for BBQ's with friends and family. The holiday home is bright and spacious. There are many local attractions for everyone. The village itself has two country pubs both of which are walking distance and serve good food and provide various types of entertainment including live bands. The walks in the area are delightful with fantastic views of the countryside, either through the woodland or over the hills in the nearby village of Fairlight. The seaside is a short distance and is a lovely pebbled beach, perfect for taking in the sea air. The historic town of Battle with it's Abbey and traditional high street as well as the ancient Cinque Port town of Rye with it's cobbled streets, upmarket restaurants and cream teas are only a short drive away. The busy and lively Hastings Old Town makes for a relaxed, intriguing Sunday morning, wandering around the antique shops. There is a selection of interesting and hospitable pubs and restaurants and lots of family entertainment along the seafront.

Accommodating hosts, spacious home.

  • 4 of 5

This is a great place for groups of friends or large families to stay. The kitchen-diner makes for a very social atmosphere and there is also a large living room with 4 sofas! All the bedrooms were as described, with towels provided. The hosts were accommodating and the neighbours we met were friendly.

The only downsides were that there was some thick dust in places and the kitchen and hall needed a good hoover when we arrived. There was a strong smell of old cigarette smoke, especially in the living room, so we had to keep windows open and use a lot of air freshener! However this would not stop us going back.

Owner's Response: Hi Liza I am a little disappointed with your review the hovering the floor I do not understand as the floor is washed last before guests arrive. The smell of smoke was from previous guests which I do understand and I can only apologise. Paul

We so enjoyed this place! The house is very clean and spacious with a lovely garden. The location just couldn't be better. Minutes from the beach, less than half-hour to Hastings and many other interesting places to see. We are definitely coming back for more! Highly recommended.

Great place

  • 4 of 5

It was a spontaneous decision to go somewhere for a short break of 3 days and we were quite lucky to find this place in such a short term and such a great location! House is nice and clean, owners are very kind, very good garden where we spent most of our stay with the kids :)) And of course I have to say that the area is just fantastic: beach is minutes away on the car, with Smugglers pub right on the beach and also there is a lovely looking pub just minutes walk from the house (Din't try them unfortunately but will do on our next visit). Great historic places like Battle and Hastings within 30 min drive and there are many things to do there with the family and friends. Overall we had a great stay in a lovely place, very recommended.

Nearest Airport : Gatwick at 40 Miles Nearest Barpub : The two sawyers at 1 Miles Nearest Ferry : Dover at 50 Miles Nearest Golf : at 5 Miles Nearest Train : Hastings at 6 Miles Nearest Motorway : M25 at 35 Miles Nearest Restaurant : at 1 Miles Nearest Beach : Winchelsea at 1 Miles Car: necessary

Winchelsea Beach is nearest and is a five minute drive through the village. The beach is pebbly and opposite the countryside. Alternatively, Hastings Beach is a ten minute drive away where cafes, restaurants, the local museum, West Hill lift to the top of the cliff and family entertainment can be found.

The nearest airport is Gatwick, which is an hour and half away by car along the M25/A21. Ashford International station with Eurostar is a forty five minute drive away. Dover and Folkestone are both within an hour an a half drive away. Although there is an hourly bus service into Hastings (with the station and trains to London), use of a car is highly recommended. There are many villages in the surrounding district. Battle, Rye and Hastings are within a short drive.

Rye with its Citadel and cobbled streets, restaurants and tea shops is six miles distance from the house. Battle with the Abbey and history of 1066 is 10 miles distance and Hastings with the beach, Smugglers Cove, museums and arcades is six miles by road.

Further Details:

There is a Post Office with daily provisions and a first class butchers in the village, along with a Norman Church. The two highly recommended pubs serving good food and a welcoming country atmosphere are a short walk in either direction of the house. The nearest place for supermarket shopping and banks would be Ore with ample facilities. For larger supermarkets the Hastings area has a good choice.
