Haye Cottage, an idyllic detached cornish cottage in a quiet country setting 1 mile from Callington, 14 miles to Looe beaches and 8 miles from Liskeard, South Cornwall. Plymouth 10 miles. A superb character cottage, lovingly modernised with appealing cottage style furnishings and retaining lots of character features which include beamed ceilings and a window seat. The cottage is situated on a quiet country lane set away from other houses, ideal for those who enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside whilst within easy travelling distance of the coast and local towns and attractions. An appealing feature is Haye Cottage's large enclosed rear gardens , having a main rear lawn, further garden areas, a small apple orchard the gardens leading onto a small wooded area belonging to the cottage. The rear patio has a table and chairs, great for enjoying a meal or a barbecue. Pop into nearby Callington, a thriving old market town having shops, cafes and a good selection of restaurants (including Langmans Retaurant with superb seafood and the Carpenter Arms). Callington is on the edge of the Tamar Valley, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Take a scenic boat trip up the Tamar River from Plymouth to Calstock (an unspoilt victorian village on the banks of the Tamar). The children will enjoy Tamar Valley Donkey Park which together with donkey rides also has play areas with climbing frames etc and other attractions. Being near the historic and prosperous city of Plymouth there are lots of National Trust and privately owned historic properties to visit in the area; National Trust properties include Buckland Abbey at Yelverton, Cotehele House and Gardens at Calstock, Saltram House and Gardens at Plymouth, with Mount Edgecumbe House and Gardens, woods, walks and beach being just across the estuary from Plymouth at Kingsbridge. Plymouth is worth a visit with its new shopping centre, the historic waterfront areas of the Hoe and Barbican (a large array of pleasure sailing boats, also a harbour area with quaint cafes and restaurants) and many attractions (Plymouth Aquarium - probably largest in Europe), Elizabethan House, Plymouth Museum, boat trips, Smeaton Tower and lots more.

Linen, central heating and electric inclusive. Woodburner in lounge area (small amount of starter fuel supplied and can buy extra fuel in Callington).

2 dogs welcome. Spacious parking in driveway for 3 cars.

Callington is an old historic market town with shops, pubs, restaurants (including Landmans Restaurant with its superb seafood) and cafes. Children will love the Donkey Centre, a short distance from Callington, with donkey rides, play area with climbing frames etc. Drop into the unspoilt victorian village of Calstock, nestled on the river Tamar about 5 miles from callington. Lovely river walks from the village, including the under 2 miles walk along the river to National Trust Cotehele House and Gardens. A spectacular river walk through woods. Take the scenic railway from Calstock to Plymouth and return on the pleasure steamer (Calstock Ferry) from Plymouth to Calstock. Visit the lots of other National Trust houses and gardens in the area. Just across the Tamar river from Plymouth, on the Cornish side of the Estuary, is National Trust Mount Edgecumbe House and Gardens.Walk from Mount Edgecumbe the 2 miles to the pedestrian Cremyll Ferry which will take you across the Bay, landing in Stonehouse, Plymouth. From where you land it is a short walk to city centre shops and the famous Barbican and Hoe waterfront areas. Visit Plymouth's new shopping centre, historic attractions such as the Elizabethan House, Plymouth Aquarium (largest in Europe) and lots of other things to do and see. Fort Picklecombe is situated in a great area for walkers, featuring in an edition of the Shell Guide as the most picturesque part of England.
