Top Floor Flat in the Heart of Russafa

Updated: 14-Oct-2016
Apartment in Valencia, Costa del Azahar, Spain

Bright and airy two bedroom apartment on a quiet street 100m from Mercado Russafa, and 10 minutes walk from Estacion del Norte. Also within 10 minutes walk are dozens of cafes and restaurants, from traditional to trendy, most with outdoor seating. The apartment is the entire top (4th) floor of the building (so there are no noisy neighbours) and gets lots of light and air with windows in every room including both bathrooms. There is a lift. The apartment is 86 sq. meters (925 sq. feet) and was completely refurbished in July 2014. There is a large (23 sq. meters) living room with dining area at one end, off which is a spacious well-equipped kitchen with all-new cabinets and appliances. There is a corridor to the bedrooms - one has a large double bed and the other has two single beds, and both bedrooms have a chest-of-drawers and large wardrobe. The sofa in the living room converts in seconds to a large double bed, so the apartment can comfortably sleep six people. There is a full bathroom with toilet, vanity, walk-in shower, clothes washer and lovely Spanish tile work. There is another half bathroom with toilet and vanity. There is gas central heating throughout for chilly nights in winter, and air conditioning in the living-room and first bedroom for warm days in summer. There is high speed fibre-optic wi-fi, and in the living-room, there is a 40" TV plus DVD player with five-speaker sound system. The apartment was completely renovated in 2014 and offered on the rental market for the first time in August 2014, so there are few reviews. Maybe you will add yours soon?

Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

I grew up in the UK and ran a small resort in the British Virgin Islands for many years. I love to travel and particularly enjoy spending time in places that are a little off the beaten track, away from hordes of tourists. I have recently discovered Valencia and really enjoy its authentic Spanish culture, the climate, and the amazing number and variety of cafes and restaurants.

Lovely apartment in a perfect location.

Lovely roomy apartment. Very clean and comfortable. It's in Russafa which is the old city. It's a 15 minute walk from the main shopping area.

It's in a nice area and there is a safe feel to the place. There are lots of restaurants within 2 minutes walk.

Booking and key collection worked very well and I would highly recommend this property.

Superb flat in great location.

  • 4 of 5

A very comfortable, quiet and spacious flat in a great location, fully equipped with everything you need. The area of Russafa is vibrant without being noisy or overrun with tourists. A 20 minute walk takes you to the heart of the old town. An amazing food market is just around the corner, excellent cafes, bars etc nearby. Would recommend to friends. So much to see in Valencia but we especially enjoyed the amazing architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences.

Couldn't be better

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday here. The apartment was exactly as described-none of those photos taken at strange angles to make things look better! Beautifully clean and with welcome gifts and some staples-oil,salt etc in the well equipped kitchen I'm a keen cook and the kitchen was super. With the wonderful market and very adequate supermarket nearby, I had a lovely array of produce to play with.

Toby and Antonio provided us with all the assistance we needed when we had a small problem with the heating-always getting back to us and arriving bang on time for key exchange etc.

I enjoyed reading the murder mysteries set in Valencia from the small library in the sitting room. They really added an extra dimension to walking through different parts of the city. A brilliant touch. Mo particularly appreciated all the framed maps in the sitting room. Very interesting and inspiring.

We absolutely loved walking about the city. We're not super fit but were fine walking all around the city from the flat in one day--with stops for coffee of course. There is just so much to see Do go to the ceramics museum--the outside of the building is something else! The Sarolla exhibition in the Fine Art Museum is lovely. There's a video presentation about his work which I found very interesting as I knew nothing of his work-now need to go to Madrid to see more!

If anyone is interested in birds it's worth getting to know the bus routes(not always easy to understand) and go to the reserve at Albufera-loads of Stints-lovely.

We had mixed luck eating out. The little restaurant just on your right as you come out of the flat was very welcoming with friedly staff and good, interesting food. Local Tapas bars were good-we followed Toby's recommendations and were not disappointed. Didn't enjoy our Paella at the fancy place on the beach frequented by Ernest Hemingway. The restaurant and service were lovely-other people looked to have chosen more interesting things-guess just unlucky. Do go to the lunch bar in the central market. We thought it the best place to just choose one thing then another- fatal!!

All I can say is-we had a wonderful time and can't recommend too highly both the apartment and the city. There are also lots of things for young people to do-just we;re too old!!

Thanks Toby-I expect we'll be back.

Babs n Mo

P.S. Eat the oranges--they're wonderful-as are the hand made crisps from the market!

Super Spot

  • 5 of 5

A newly refurbished flat with 2 full bedrooms, full shower room and adjacent extra handbasin and loo and large sitting/dining area and kitchen. It is very well equipped and being on the top floor(there is a lift) plenty of light. It is situated about 10 minutes walk from the main station which is in the heart of the city. Valencia is a small city and does not appear to have traffic problems. The neighbourhood is for local living and so no English spoken and the atmosphere is brilliant with a marvellous undercover fresh food market about a minute's walk away, supermarket(small) likewise and so many eating establishments it was really difficult to decide which one to choose. Most eating out appeared to be very reasonably priced. All of the main sights are within walking distance and even the port and beach can be reached on foot but more simply by metro/tram.

Altogether a good find.

Immaculate flat in great location

  • 5 of 5

My Wife and I stayed at Casa Romeu for five days in August, it was our first visit to Valencia.

The flat has recently been refurbished and is therefore very clean, well equipped and everything works ! It is a spacious flat with two bedrooms and a sofa bed. The kitchen is marvelous and is decorated with beautiful Spanish tiles. It has everything you need to self cater if you want, although there are hundreds of bars and restaurants in the area and after all you are on holiday :)

The Mercado Russafa is just around the corner and it's the best place to buy fresh fish, vegetables and bread . Very convenient and full of wonderful foods to tempt you.

For restaurants you are spoilt for choice. We ate out for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The "Pizzora" at the end of the street was good. Inexpensive and friendly service. Another really good restaurant we were lucky enough to find by accident was "Appetite". Ten minutes from the flat and well worth a visit. Unusual in that there is no menu but they do ask if you have any major dislikes or food allergies. Six courses for 27 Euro. Eclectic selection and all very good. Go there !!

There are several places worth seeing that are not too far from the flat. The Cathedral is very interesting, we did not climb the stairs however because it was 34 degrees and the queue was quite long.

Playa Ayuntamiento has interesting architecture and there is a tourist information booth there, always busy!

Take a long walk along the Jardines del Turia which is interesting. It leads eventually to the City of Arts & Sciences. Well worth seeing from the outside, it's like nothing you will have seen before. Not so interesting on the inside however.

Have fun!
