Millers and Rosie's cottages are adjoining self catering cottages peacefully located within the glorious north Devon countryside. they are in an area of great interest and sits on the edge of the quiet rural hamlet of Woolsery but is just a short drive from the breath taking north Devon beaches and the English Heritage coastline, popular with bird watchers and walkers. the properties are adjacent to the owners farmhouse as part of a 45 acre beef farm but offers much privacy within its own enclosed gardens with children's play areas. The famous surfing beaches of Westward Ho! And Bude are an easy drive and for family fun The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Parks are close by. the pretty historic port town of Bideford is just 9 miles and offers town amenities and boat troops to Lundy Island. fro walking and cycling the famous Tarkadoc trail is close by. Horse riding is available nearby and there is a local shop and fish and chip shop less than 1 mile away. Both properties are very well equipped and provide a high standard of accommodation. There is ample off road parking. All linen and towels are included in the price of the booking. Both properties have central heating,cot and high chair available on request, Freeview TV, DVD player, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and washing lines. Both properties have access to mature gardens and to the private indoor heated swimming pool and is available for use all day, every day. At the end of the gardens is a play field for children with climbing frame/slide and trampoline. Garden chairs provided to allow you to sit back and relax in the beautiful surroundings. WiFi access in both properties. The farm has a number of different types of poultry and peacocks for you to see if you are interested. Pets can be accommodated but only by prior arrangement with the owners. Both properties are Non smoking.

Rosie's cottage is a barn conversion which sleeps 4 people. It has two bedrooms; one double with en-suite shower room and a twin room with a shower in the room. It has a separate family bathroom situated downstairs, which has been newly refitted in 2014. The lounge has an electric fire effect heater, TV with Freeview and DVD player. The kitchen was newly refitted in 2014 and has a dining table and chairs. There is access to a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate store room and there is a lawned area with garden furniture, washing line and children's play frame available for the cottages use.

About the Owner

Myself and my husband have been letting our two self catering holiday cottages for over 25 years. We enjoy meeting people coming to stay with us and helping them to enjoy their holiday. The cottages are within our 45 acre beef farm, on which we have numerous farm birds, chicken, ducks, peacocks and wild pheasants. Frequently I have children from the holiday cottages watching me with the poultry in the morning and helping to collect eggs!

We live in the farmhouse near the cottages and are on hand if you have any enquiries during your stay. The position of the cottages is completely separate from the farmhouse and allows for complete privacy.

We enjoy seeing guests using the swimming pool and making the most of the gardens and play areas.

These cottages were converted by ourselves from barns. In fact Millers cottage did used to be the Mill house for the local area and still has the original Mill stone laid in the gardens.

Many local beaches ideal for surfing and miles of coastal paths for keen walkers to take advantage of along with numerous countryside walks.

Coast/Beach:

The closest beach is 3 miles from the cottages at Buck's Mills but there are numerous beaches easily accessible. Westward Ho! is only a 10 minute drive and boasts a blue flag beach with long stretches of golden sand, perfect for surfing, kite surfing etc. There are also smaller beaches ideal for rock pooling and fishing along the coastline and we are happy to recommend beaches to fit your requirements.

Travel:

The closest airport is at Exeter.

Distances:

The nearest village to the cottages is 3/4 of a mile away and provides a well stocked village shop (cost cutter), fish and chip shop and post office. The historic port town of Bideford is a 10 mile drive away and offers all amenities.

Other local villages, within 2-3 miles include Clovelly, famous for its picturesque cobbled street and Hartland, with the dramatic scenery at the beautiful Hartland Quay, where the Atlantic meets the Bristol Channel.

Further Details:

Supermarkets and Banks are located in Bideford (10 miles) although many guests take advantage of grocery delivery service from supermarkets directly to the cottages. There are many fantastic pubs and restaurants in the area catering for a range of palates. The Pier house at Westward Ho! allows dining overlooking the sea and the restaurants in Instow and Appledore offer fresh locally caught seafood dishes. Closer to the cottage is the thatched Hoops Inn and the traditional Bell Inn at Parkham, both which serve an excellent standard of food.

A £50.00 non-refundable deposit is required upon booking and the balance of the payment must be paid six weeks before the date of arrival.

Changeover Day:
Change over day is always Saturday.Guests are asked not to arrive at the property before 15.00 on the date of arrival and to vacate the property by 10.00 on the day of departure.This allows for a thorough clean of the property.

Notes on prices:
A £50.00 non-refundable deposit is required upon booking and the full balance should be paid 6 weeks before the date of arrival.

The cottages are peacefully located in the countryside allowing you to completely relax and unwind. There are lush, mature gardens for you to enjoy, the swimming pool, which you have your own key for access at your own convenience. The cottages are situated only a short drive to numerous tourist attractions, adventure parks, beautiful golden beaches, ideal for surfing. There are also numerous countryside and coastal walks in the North Devon area that guests often undertake. There are riding stables, close by and golf courses a short drive from the cottages. Being close to the cornish border, you could drive to some cornish beauty spots or places of interest, such as the Eden project.

  • Notes on accommodation: Both properties offer comfortable accommodation in peaceful surroundings. All bed linen and towels are provided, although you will need to bring extra towels for use at the swimming pool. There is WiFi internet access at the cottages for your convenience. Outside: Millers cottage benefits from its own private enclosed garden, with lawn, barbecue area, washing line and garden furniture. Rosie's cottage have access to the communal gardens and have a designated area in the gardens by the swimming pool where there is a rotary washing line and garden furniture for guests to use. There is a private indoor heated swimming pool (8.5 x 4.2 metres in size ranging from 0.9m to 2m in depth). There is a children's play frame, including swing and slide in the gardens outside the swimming pool area but there is also lawned gardens leading down to a further children's play area, with another climbing frame, trampoline and tractor for children to play on.
