Overview

Property

Updated: 27-Sep-2016
House in Filkins Nr. Burford, Lechlade, Cotswold, Gloucestershire, England - Idyllic Village With Award Winning Pub, Village Shop, and Cotswold Woollen Weavers Museum / Shop

This property has been featured in many guidebooks to the Cotswolds. It retains original stone and wood features and has lots of character, including some low beams. The downstairs sitting room has a beautiful open stone fire place. The kitchen/diner is large and equipped with Miele appliances and high spec cooking utensils. It opens out through a 4-door folding French window which tales up the whole of front wall. Thus an illusion of indoor / outdoor living is created in the summer. Key benefits of the cottage’s position include proximity (20 yards) to communal open air swimming pool and village shop. Filkins is situated on the Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire border of the Cotswolds, a region renowned as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The village has an array of Cotswold Stone built cottages and farmhouses surrounded by open farmland and countryside. Filkins has an award winning pub “The Five Alls” a highly acclaimed establishment offering high quality dining. Gassons View is perfectly situated next to the post office, 50 yards from the local village shop and, from the garden gate, 20 yards from the village outdoor swimming pool. Filkins is also known for the Cotswold Woollen Weavers museum, where you can spend the day looking at old fashioned looms and relax with coffee, wine and snacks. The nearby towns of Burford and Lechlade have a selection of local amenities, while the larger centres of Witney, Oxford and Cirencester are all within travelling distance. Inside: The entrance (a great use of space for coats and muddy boots) opens out into a beautiful stone flagged floor sitting room with superb open fireplace. The sitting room leads to the dining area which has a large antique wooden table which can seat up to 6-8 people, with additional seating in the kitchen. The kitchen area (which has recently been refurbished) adds a modern twist to the cottage, including a glass conservatory leading out to the back garden. The garden has a stone seating area with patio and table. Through the walk way to the right, it opens up into a large garden. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms, 1 super king, 1 double, 1 small double and 1 with wooden bunk beds, and a second bathroom.

Please note pricing structure for periods of less than 7 days. We charge £460/610/760 for the first night and £40/50/60 for each subsequent night.

Location

From the Owner

We love the unspoilt stone village, located in such a good spot for access to all the Cotswolds has to offer. The village itself is unusual as it has such a great community with lots of village events throughout the year, and outdoor swimming pool and playground.
