About Trudy Waterhouse

We moved to Lakeside Barns in Bleadon in 2002. This property was the dairy of the farm next door, which consisted of an old large grain barn, which is now our home and other outbuildings. Over the years we have slowly renovated it to its present state, Knoll, Mendip and South Hill were part of a long barn where the calves were born. Bleadon and the Mendips are beautiful, we love it here and its been worth all the hard work.

Trudy Waterhouse purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Trudy Waterhouse chose Sedgemoor

We have both always wanted to live in Bleadon it is such a beautiful area. All our married life we have renovated properties and to find a barn conversion in the heart of Bleadon was fantastic. We are so pleased we have finished the holiday cottages so that now other people can enjoy this peaceful rural location. A real escape.

What makes this cottage unique

While you are staying at Lakeside Barns the one thing you will notice is the lack of noise. At night apart from a hooting owl or call from a fox there is just wonderful silence.

All the properties have outside lighting but because there are not any street lights you can really appreciate the illuminating night sky.

We now have a seating area by our large duck pond, looking out onto the views and paddocks, a perfect place to sit and unwind with a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.

An ideal base for our trip

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mendip Cottage, which proved an ideal centre for visiting Wells with its magnificent cathedral, Glastonbury, and friends in Cirencester.

The cottage is finished to a high standard, and comes fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Importantly, the internet connection worked well, allowing us to research our destinations online.

Thank you, Trudy & Paul for making it a memorable stay. Your cottage is highly recommended.

Quiet, spotless and ideally located

  • 5 of 5

Location

Knoll View is perfectly situated for easy access to Weston, Cheddar Gorge, the Steam Railway and Brean beach with its miles of sand.

Accommodation

The cottage itself is spotless, offering all you need for a break away from the rat-race. Enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the duck pond really slows things down.

Food

We enjoyed an excellent meal at the local Indian, and the following night we had an excellent Chinese delivered. We even had breakfast in the Edwardian tearooms at the end of the Grand Pier.

Spa

We took advantage of the free Spa day offer provided with the booking, well worth a visit.

Owners

Paul and Trudy were always available to answer any questions and happy to pass on local knowledge of the best places to visit / eat.

All in all, we had a fantastic relaxing time and would have no hesitation in returning.

Superb Mendip Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Mendip is a beautiful barn cottage with lovely peaceful surroundings in a central position in the countryside .The cottage was immaculate with everything you need for a comfortable stay , with fresh flowers ,tea and scones on arrival .

We visited Cheddar Gorge ,Dunster Castle,ss Great Britain to name a few.We enjoyed our stay so much we luckily stayed for a second week and visited Lacock Abbey and village ,Cheddar Reservoir ,Wells Cathedral and Palace.

It was good to know that after a day travelling around ,we were going back to a lovely peaceful cottage, where we would have a good nights sleep in a comfy bed.

A lot of care and thought has gone into making Mendip cottage a lovely place to stay. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

We also felt very much at home withTrudy and Paul around for a friendly chat .

Lovely well appointed cottage

  • 5 of 5

Mendip Cottage is a lovely well appointed cosy cottage. The grounds are lovely with sheep, Shetland ponies and very hungry ducks, coots and geese (and mustn't forget Archie the dog). A cream tea was a lovely welcoming treat. Well situated for sightseeing the area. Would definitely recommend

A comfortable retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Trudy gave us clear directions for travelling to Lakeside Barns which were better than the recommendations given by the sat nav. The patio was a lovely sun trap and a welcome place to sit out in the spring sunshine. Welcoming interior, comfortable sofa and bed, nicely decorated and well maintained. The local garage is reasonably priced and has a petrol attendant that fills your car for you - a rare treat in customer service. The owners dog Archie provided excellent customer service too, gently welcoming and watching over us, he even shared his ball for a short play before trotting back off on his 'rounds'.
