About Trudy Waterhouse

We moved to Lakeside Barns in Bleadon in 2002. This property was the dairy of the farm next door, which consisted of an old large grain barn, which is now our home and other outbuildings. Over the years we have slowly renovated it to its present state, Knoll, Mendip and South Hill were part of a long barn where the calves were born. Bleadon and the Mendips are beautiful, we love it here and its been worth all the hard work.

Trudy Waterhouse purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Trudy Waterhouse chose Sedgemoor

We have both always wanted to live in Bleadon it is such a beautiful area. All our married life we have renovated properties and to find a barn conversion in the heart of Bleadon was fantastic. We are so pleased we have finished the holiday cottages so that now other people can enjoy this peaceful rural location. A real escape.

What makes this cottage unique

While you are staying at Lakeside Barns the one thing you will notice is the lack of noise. At night apart from a hooting owl or call from a fox there is just wonderful silence.

All the properties have outside lighting but because there are not any street lights you can really appreciate the illuminating night sky.

We now have a seating area by our large duck pond, looking out onto the views and paddocks, a perfect place to sit and unwind with a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.

Excellent walks nearby, proper pub 1 mile away, good food. Beautifully thought out and executed barn conversion, friendly helpful owners.

South Hill is a lovely cottage, decorated and equipped to a very high standard. The owner was very welcoming and provided lots of information about the local area. Its a lovely place to stay for a relaxing break.

Perfect location & excellent accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a peaceful rural setting and we certainly got this. From the very warm welcome by Trudy and Paul to a very well thought out cottage we immediately felt at ease and very comfortable. We used the cottage as a base for visiting friends and relatives in Penarth and Bristol as well as meeting up with others locally. Bleadon has a very strong sense of community and is a very friendly place. We enjoyed the café and used the village shop. The Queen's Arms in Bleadon was great for both lunch and (especially) dinner. We also recommend the well judged food at the Oak House Hotel in Axbridge- a charming village nearby with an historic and continental feel. The relaxed environment at the Lakeside Barns, together with the beauty of the Mendips and the pleasure of the farm animals made this a perfect stay. We intend to return!

Thank you Paul & Trudy

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place to stay, Flowers, tea & coffee & milk and a Cream Tea waiting on arrival with Paul there to show us around the cottage and tell us about the local area. The cottage is beautifully laid out, the beds are very comfortable, and a nice wet-room with shower gel, shampoo, shower cap and soap provided, If you like animals they have Gloucester old Spot pigs, Miniature Shetland Ponies and numerous Ducks and Geese. All in all a lovely place to stay and we had a lovely holiday, oh and by the way if you want fresh eggs just ask Trudy. Once again thank you for a lovely holiday Paul & Trudy.

May in Bleadon and Lakeside Barns

  • 5 of 5

Well what a lovely place to stay, arrived to Trudy's special scones with jam and clotted dream, milk in the fridge and fresh flowers, what more do you need, oh and Archie as well (he's lovely too, but I wasn't allowed to take him home). Lovely cottage, immaculate condition, modern, specious bedrooms, very nice bathroom, with walk in shower. Loads of hot water. Recommend Wells cathedral on Wednesday for farmers market, coffee at the patio of the Swan hotel, West Summerset Railway to Minehead and to a trip Porlock Bay also the indian restaurant locally. So a great holiday, thank you to Paul, Trudy, Archie, and the weather!!
