The Plough Farmhouse has 6 bedrooms sleeping 15 plus room for cots. The breakfast kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, and the dining room with open fire will seat everyone for family meals. For relaxation in the sitting room and snug, there is a selection of books & games. Freeview televisions, DVD, VHS & CD/Bluetooth players are provided, and Wi-Fi coverage is throughout the house. Central heating is fully controlled by our guests, but for that extra degree of cosiness, there are the open fire in the dining room, and log burner in the sitting room. We want our guests to be relaxed and to feel at home; and for holidays to be as simple as possible. We therefore provide logs for the fire and log burner, as well as cleaning materials, toiletries & loo rolls. Hairdryers are provided in the double bedrooms, together with ample fluffy towels and luxury bed linen. Cots, high chairs & stair gates are available for our very young guests. Outside, there is a private enclosed garden with adjacent secure parking just by the back door. In the grounds, guests have the use of the sports area, safe play areas with adventure equipment & Wendy house. The large gardens are ideal in which to enjoy ball games, picnics, or simply relax with a glass of wine and a book.

The village of Eglwyswrw is situated in the north of Pembrokeshire, on the edge of the National Park, and close to the coast. Between Cardigan and Newport, it is ideally located for many outdoor pursuits such as walking, sailing, photography, fishing, bird watching etc., with nearby visitor attractions to suit all ages and interests. Numerous safe and accessible beaches are close by, and we are happy to make our family Kayaks available for our guests to use.

Notes on accommodation: The Plough farmhouse is an interesting period property with many original features. We rescued the old quarry tiles in the Dining Room from under a layer of concrete, and refurbished the open fire as closely to the 18th century style as possible. Having two tables to seat everyone on either side of the open fire place, this is a lovely room, with great atmosphere, especially when candlelit. The Hallway has a rare early stud and noggin wall with stone infill. Rather than cover this delicate structure behind render, we have left the timbers exposed, and preserved the remainder within traditional render. Throughout, the oak beams have been stripped, and contribute to the atmosphere of the house. Early photographs show the front of the Plough with a portico supported on stone pillars. As yet we have not replaced this feature, but given time, this will be a desirable addition. Outside: The front garden, mostly lawn, is generally flat. The communal gardens and play areas are accessed by means of the higher driveway. The ground slopes quite steeply, typical gradients are 15%, so a wheel chair user might require some assistance. Grass steps with handrail are provided at the steepest point. A barbecue is provided, but no fuel. We recommend using disposable barbecue packs with the one provided which avoids cleaning difficulties. Picnic benches are provided in the front garden, with parasols and garden chairs. Utility Room: The porch/utility provides plenty of hanging and stacking space for outdoor clothing, boots and similar paraphernalia. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: For laundry requirements there is a washing machine/dryer, iron, ironing board and rotary line. Ample fluffy towels are provided, luxury bed linen, tea towels and bath mats. For 2 week bookings, linen is changed weekly and otherwise on request. Other: The Snug: In the days when The Plough was a pub, this was the brewing room, but now it has sofas, books, games and another television tucked under the old bread oven in the inglenook.

We are very well situated for the beautiful beaches (many are Blue Flag) on the Cardigan Bay coast. By far the most popular are Newport Sands and Poppit Sands, both about a 5 mile drive away. The RNLI station with gift shop is at Poppit, whilst cars can be driven onto the beach at Newport, a great convenience. Other nearby beaches are at Cwm Yr Eglwys, Pwll Gwaelod, Tresaith, Penbryn, Aberporth and Mwnt, where visitors often have sightings of the resident bottle-nose dolphins & harbour porpoise.


For getting here, and for making the best of travelling around, a car really is essential, however there are good public transport facilities. The Plough is on the Cardigan-Fishguard bus route, with onward services. The coast is served by five bus services that run 7 days a week during the summer. The buses cover most of the 186 miles of Coast Path National Trail, and all stop on demand to facilitate walkers and sightseers. The nearest railway stops are at Clynderwen, Haverfordwest & Fishguard


The nearest towns for household shopping are Cardigan and Crymych, both about 4 miles away. Cardigan has a good choice of local shops as well as a choice of supermarkets. Newport, with a wide selection of places to eat, is about 5 miles, and further afield Narberth is 20 miles, Fishguard 12 miles and Haverfordwest is 18 miles.
