This quiet residential property, rated 4* by the Zermatt Tourist Office, is located less than 5 minutes walk from the Klein Matterhorn departure station which gives access to the entire Zermatt ski area and Cervinia, Italy. Going towards the village, you will reach the church and the Bahnhofstrasse in 5 minutes, as well as many excellent restaurants, après ski spots, a bakery, grocery, wine shop, ski schools and rentals, and the Alpine Centre.

About Ann

I have been going to Zermatt for over 20 years and have definitely fallen under its spell. The mighty Matterhorn towering above the little village can leave no one indifferent. I bought my first property in in Zermatt in 1994 and this is where I live now in winter. In summer I alternate between Zermatt and Geneva where i have lived for many years. My hometown was Wimbledon and I still manage to get back there on the special occasion that takes place at the end of June/beginning of July.

Ann purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Ann chose Zermatt

I acquired the Gornerwald property in 2003 when the estate agent told me of a proposal to build a lift from Furi to Riffelberg. This effectively was the missing link to connect up the whole area in both directions from the departure station of the Matterhorn Express, which is just 100 meters from the apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

In less than 5 minutes in ski boots you can be on your way to Italy, or the Gornergrat area or all the way over to Sunnegga...just depends where the best snow is!

Location

Travel:

Zermatt is a car-free village. It can be accessed easily by train in about 3 1/2 hours from Zurich and Geneva airports where the train station is at the airport (can also be reached from Sion, Basel and Milan). If you are driving you must leave your car at Tasch and then proceed by shuttle train or taxi to Zermatt. Trolleys are available at the parking in Tasch which you can take on the train. On arrival in Zermatt, the easiest way to the apartment with baggage is by taxi.

Further Details:

During the summer months Zermatt offers lots of walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, an accrobranche Forest Fun Park, tennis, volleyball, and for younger children a Wolli play park with lake and a barbecue area. The Zermatt Tourist Office can provide more information.

Outside: There is a wonderful view from the balcony of the Matterhorn on one side and the village on the other side. The balcony has a dining table and chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided and included in the rental. The beds are made up prior to arrival.

Great location and super accommodation

All went really well thank you. A couple of trees being cut down would improve the view of the Matterhorn from the balcony!! and a subscription to Netflix (or similar) would have been helpful during the thunderstorms! Other than these very minor wishes we had a super time thank you, would recommend the apartment whole-heartedly and would like to return one day.

perfect quiet location

This well organized, well equipped apartment is in an ideal location for my family. Just a short easy walk to town center and the cable car yet away from the busy streets. We spent much of our time (and took lots of pictures) on the large deck that overlooks the town and with a view of the Matterhorn. The host, Ann, could not have been more helpful, steering us to several of Zermatt's finest mountainside restaurants. She provides a very helpful "insiders" guide to Zermatt in a notebook in the apartment. Our routine was fresh croissants from the bakery down the street to start the day, followed by a pleasant hike up the mountain trails to a restaurant with a glorious view, enjoy a fine leisurely lunch and either hike down or ride the train or cable car back to town with a stop at Coop or Migros for dinner supplies. Internet via wifi worked fine throughout, including outside on the deck. There was a large tv with many English channels. We found this apartment to be perfect for my wife and I and our 10 year old son. Highly recommended.

Perfect apartment in the most beautiful ski resort in the world

Lovely, well equipped apartment in a great location for quick access to Klein Matterhorn lifts (5 min walk) and an easy 10-15 min walk into town. Ann, our hostess, was very accommodating, thanks for the coffee, wine and beautiful welcome tulips. Stunning views of the Matterhorn, what better way to end a day of fab skiing, than a beer and a view sitting on the sunny balcony. We'll be back, thank you

Clean, spacious, well equipped flat with great views and easy ski access

We went as a family of 4 adults, 2 of which did not ski (I broke my foot 3 weeks before the holiday!). The flat suited us perfectly, the location for skiing is perfect and yet within very easy walking distance from the village. It is quiet, and has stunning views. It does not get much sun in the winter but it does get the end of day sun and if you're out skiing all day it really doesn't matter. I highly recommend this property and hope to be able to go there again myself.

wonderful vacation

We recently stayed at Ann's apartment for a ski vacation. It was everything we expected and had the added bonus of Ann's advice and recommendations on tickets, groceries, restaurants and even a hotel suggestion for an extended night stay. The apartment was comfortably equipped for the 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 grown sons, to eat and relax together at night. Beds without footboards were great for the tall among us. I would suggest bringing your favorite pillow if you don't like firm.

We opted to eat in for most of our meals as the restaurants in Zermatt are fairly expensive. Grocery stores were convenient at the end of the day to pick up what we wanted. Wi-Fi was a lifesaver for computer and streaming at night. Location is fantastic with easy walk to Matterhorn lift in ski boots (which I don't usually do). Snow amounts were a disappointment and limited skiing but you can't predict that when planning. Easy walk to restaurants, clubs and stores, which we did several times for dinner, nightlife and shopping. Be sure to check out the Matterhorn Museum while your there.

Ann was so easy to work with and promptly responded to my many questions before and during our trip. I would highly recommend this stay in Zermatt. It looks to be a beautiful spot in the summer too.

Nice quiеt appartment, Convenient location

Very clean and well-equipped apartment. Two bedrooms well-separated, so guests do not interfere at night. Stove, oven and dishwasher in the kitchen. Lots of stuff you might need, like spices, sugar, coffee, etc were left in the kitchen, so you don't need to worry at least initially. Washing machine in the bathroom. Magnificent view from the windows. Very close to the main gondola. You can walk there in regular boots, and leave then either in lockers, or just put on the shelf.

The host, Ann, is amazing. Her advises helped us a lot with logistics, etc. Highly recommended.

To confirm the availability of the apartment please phone the owner or send an email. A deposit of 40% of the rental is required at the time you make the reservation and the balance is due a month before arrival. Payments can be made in Swiss francs or Euro. A contract setting out all the details will be sent to confirm the reservation.

Changeover Day:
In the high season, changeover day is Saturday. Arrival is 16.00 and departure is 12.00.

Notes on prices:
Prices include bed, bath and kitchen linen, and final cleaning. Tourist taxes are chf2.50 per person per day. Free WIFI.
