This quiet residential property, rated 4* by the Zermatt Tourist Office, is located less than 5 minutes walk from the Klein Matterhorn departure station which gives access to the entire Zermatt ski area and Cervinia, Italy. Going towards the village, you will reach the church and the Bahnhofstrasse in 5 minutes, as well as many excellent restaurants, après ski spots, a bakery, grocery, wine shop, ski schools and rentals, and the Alpine Centre.

About Ann

I have been going to Zermatt for over 20 years and have definitely fallen under its spell. The mighty Matterhorn towering above the little village can leave no one indifferent. I bought my first property in in Zermatt in 1994 and this is where I live now in winter. In summer I alternate between Zermatt and Geneva where i have lived for many years. My hometown was Wimbledon and I still manage to get back there on the special occasion that takes place at the end of June/beginning of July.

Why Ann chose Zermatt-Matterhorn

I acquired the Gornerwald property in 2003 when the estate agent told me of a proposal to build a lift from Furi to Riffelberg. This effectively was the missing link to connect up the whole area in both directions from the departure station of the Matterhorn Express, which is just 100 meters from the apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

In less than 5 minutes in ski boots you can be on your way to Italy, or the Gornergrat area or all the way over to Sunnegga...just depends where the best snow is!

Nice quiеt appartment, Convenient location

Very clean and well-equipped apartment. Two bedrooms well-separated, so guests do not interfere at night. Stove, oven and dishwasher in the kitchen. Lots of stuff you might need, like spices, sugar, coffee, etc were left in the kitchen, so you don't need to worry at least initially. Washing machine in the bathroom. Magnificent view from the windows. Very close to the main gondola. You can walk there in regular boots, and leave then either in lockers, or just put on the shelf.

The host, Ann, is amazing. Her advises helped us a lot with logistics, etc. Highly recommended.

Excellent all round

Just as per the description the appt was well positioned and easy to get to, I much preferred this end of town to the sunnega area! Very easy to get up to the lifts at furi or catch the ski bus. The appt was very roomy, well maintained and the block was quiet. The description of layout and facilities was accurate. Wifi worked well (vip with teens on board) The little washing machine was a useful addition. Zermatt is an expensive town to eat out but we did go to 'Sparky's' and the woodfired pizza place just by the lifts, the rest of the time we self catered, shopping in the coop by the train station. We had not the best ski conditions but still managed to clock up a lot of miles getting to Italy on a few of the days, we used summit ski instructors for one of the group and were very happy with them. Would I go back to the same appt? Yes! Summer or winter you could have a great holiday here and Ann's appt would make a great base. She always responded quickly to any queries during the booking process and the whole trip went very smoothly. Thank you!

Fantastic apartment & advice

The apartment is fantastic - importantly it is located less than 5 minutes walk (in ski gear and with kids!) from the main cable car up to the glacier ski areas. It's also well equipped and even has views of the Matterhorn (which we still found awe-inspiring even at the end of the holiday).

Even more important for us was the advice that Ann provided before we came (and before we had even booked). This was our first skiing adventure with our two children (aged 6 and 8) and was to be combined with a trip to Zurich to see friends. Ann was very generous in providing heaps of great advice on how we could make the holiday work - from booking ski-school to advice on travelling to Zermatt by car as we did and what to do if the weather turned. It really was appreciated and played a big part in us enjoying a holiday that is up there with the best we have ever had.

It was lovely to meet Ann on the slopes one lunchtime for a drink to thank her for all the advice and we really hope to be returning to Zermatt soon

Perfect apartment

Comfortable apartment with 2good sized bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms .Comfortable and spacious sitting area and wonderful balcony with views of Mattahorn and zermatt town. Great location with only a 3minute walk up to the Mattahorn express lift and a couple of minutes to nearest bar /restaurent. Excellent information about appliances in apartment and also nearby amenities. We would definitely recommend this apartment to friends

Very nice appartment with plenty of space and a spectacular view

From other experiences in Switzerland before, I expected the appartment to be rather small and was very positively surprised. It is nice and spacious for four people with seperate bedrooms and bathrooms, a big and cozy living room and a seperate dining area. The Kitchen is not that big, but very well equiped with everything needed, including a big fridge and a dishwasher. I loved the huge balcony with a great view of the Matterhorn on one side and Zermatt on the other side.

The house is very close to the main lift, so there is no need to ride the skibus. The main road with most shopping and restaurants is a 5 minute walk and there are some bars, restaurants and a kiosk even closer.

There are no dryers for the skiboots in the skiroom, but we had our own anyway. The room is well ventilated and it might do, but I like to have warm boots in the morning.

Communication with Ann was always easy and pleasant and she was very helpfull and accommodating before and during our stay.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Zermatt. Anns appartment will definitely be our first choice when we return.

Activity and Interests

Travel:

Zermatt is a car-free village. It can be accessed easily by train in about 3 1/2 hours from Zurich and Geneva airports where the train station is at the airport (can also be reached from Sion, Basel and Milan). If you are driving you must leave your car at Tasch and then proceed by shuttle train or taxi to Zermatt. Trolleys are available at the parking in Tasch which you can take on the train. On arrival in Zermatt, the easiest way to the apartment with baggage is by taxi.

Further Details:

During the summer months Zermatt offers lots of walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, an accrobranche Forest Fun Park, tennis, volleyball, and for younger children a Wolli play park with lake and a barbecue area. The Zermatt Tourist Office can provide more information.
