About the Owner

Serena, Jez and Dylan have fully renovated Pinewood Lodge and the two holiday apartments to a very high standard. We are very proud to share this beautiful location with our guests. Both Jez and Serena work for national charities supporting families and vulnerable young people, whilst their son is studying hard at school (we hope)...

Clean, Modern and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as it looks in the photos, its decorated in a very modern style more in keeping with today than any B&B we could have chosen. Kitchen/Diner/Lounge is spacious with excellent facilities and extras (fresh flowers and a glass of wine on arrival). The bathroom was decorated to to a level I could of imagined in a posh hotel and the shower was amazing.

There are only 2 minor downsides, the double bed was a little too firm for our liking and the rooms echoed a lot especially in the main living area.

The apartment although accessible through winding narrow lanes is very near to Plymouth and Exeter as well as Sea for the likes of Torquay and Paignton. There is so much to do in the area, we would have happily made camp there for a month if we could have afforded it.

The host were brilliant, left us alone and when they were around were so friendly.

Modern, spacious, clean and well configured space

  • 5 of 5

Clean and spacious accommodation with all the modern facilities you need or want. A well stocked co-op is only a 5 minute drive away and the coast can be reached in under 30 minutes. Geese and sheep in the adjoining field entertained our 2 year and 4 year old. Great location if you want the flexibility of beach or activities in and around Dartmoor. Serena and her husband made us very welcome.

Wonderful find

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Such an amazing little find. The accomadation has been fantastic, better than any other self catering we have stayed in. The bed is on a par with the most luxurious hotels in the world and the little touches (like the wine on arrival) make this a place not to miss. I kept having to reassure my husband that I was honest about the price that we paid. We came for 3 nights with 4 year old twins and I can confirm that this is a very child friendly place, we moved the breakables and let the kids roam free without a concern for them finding something they shouldn't. The kitchen is fully stocked and even included sandwich boxes. Local to some really good attractions, the kids loved Pennywell Farn and Paignton Zoo. Once you have driven here for the first time you won't get lost coming back. I honestly can not think of any feedback apart from keep up the great work! Five stars doesn't seem enough. Thank you for everything. We will be back

Fantastic location, made even better by pigs, chickens and the lovely Amelie!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic few days here. A fantastic location, with amazing views and such easy access to the moor and lovely walks. Very close to bigger amenities in Plymouth only about 25 minutes drive away. Zulu (our German Shepherd) loved it, and playing with Amelie I think made him feel much more comfortable on his first holiday away!

Suffice to say we would heartily recommend anyone staying here, Sereena and the family are lovely, so accommodating and friendly. And who can beat fresh eggs warm from the nest! I have been missing my piggie friends and we are looking forward to going back to see them all again!

Thanks so much for a great time and we will definitely see you again soon.

Wonderful, scenic hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Shipley Lodge, it was the perfect hideaway within the Moors. The accommodation was modern and comfortable. We felt very welcome, the goodies on arrival were a lovely touch and the shower was amazing. The local walks were wonderful and the views were amazing. I would highly recommend a visit.

From the Owner

We fell in love with Pinewood Lodge as we drove through the narrow tree covered lanes and arrived at Pinewood Lodge nestled between the hills with amazing views. We had been looking for a place where you could walk straight form your door 'to have arrived at your destination' and you can walk straight out onto the moor.

From the Owner

Pinewood Lodge is situated in a magical tranquil location, surrounded by countryside and views. Originally utilized by the victorians as a health sanatorium for its fresh clean air, not much has changed today. We have our own private well and water supply from the granite rocks below, a beautiful bluebell wood and some lovely pigs and chickens. If you are dog owner you are welcome to bring well behaved dogs and to stay in Shipley Lodge the ground floor apartment. Although secluded you are only a fifteen minute drive from a range of market towns.
