Elegant, traditional stone built house located upon the hillside with vast, panoramic views across the valley, village of Kincraig and to the Cairngorm mountains. This is a spectacular setting with magnificent countryside walks right from the doorstep. There is a comfortable lounge with open log fire. Kitchen with dining table for 8 guests. 2 bedrooms downstairs and 2 bedrooms upstairs. There is also a bathroom downstairs and a bathroom upstairs.

About Frances

This property has spectacular views, which are commented upon by everyone who has visited. For many years the house was exclusively available to a German holiday company. They have always enjoyed their stay with many returning in later years. This is a very peaceful area with a magnificent garden, views, wildlife and country walks on the doorstep. If you would like any further information about the area then please let me know.

Very comfortable, spacious country house. Beautiful view & very handy for Aviemore

We had a fantastic weekend at Kincraig House, a lovely & spacious house which was perfect for our 50th birthday celebrations. Although it is a large house it was nice & cosy & extremely comfortable. There was everything you needed for a family break & Aviemore was handy for picking up groceries. Fantastic walks nearby including Loch Insch & Loch An Eilean.

A few of our party were taking part in the Aviemore running festival so it was a perfect location for that too!

Great fun...especially for kids who like hide and seek

Yes, the place is a bit run down here and there but it's clean, well located (close to Aviemore, and very close to the Highland Wildlife Park) and great fun. The rooms are large and with the layout of the house it's perfect for wee ones to hide (not too big that they get lost, but enough for fun)....mine had a blast. We'd happily go back. Thanks.

Fantastic house but could do with some tlc

Location great albeit being severely hampered in access due to work on a9, which is temporary. Overlooking Cairngorms and surrounded by fields. No traffic noise.

Cleaning was a bit of a let down as we had to clean kitchen and bathrooms before use - but that is pretty much the only bad thing we have to say. Beds comfortable and good size. Would recommend

Spacious, traditional property with character and open views

We booked four nights and didn't want to go home! Luckily, the house was vacant for the next few days so we were able to stay an extra night. If you're looking for a spacious, traditional house with character and open views, where you can truly relax, you'll enjoy this one. Somewhat dated inside but, for us, that added to the charm along with the high ceilings and traditional period features. The rooms are large, bright and airy. The house was fully equipped for the needs of our family in terms of furniture, furnishings and kitchen equipment, boasts central heating, an open fire, a barbecue, picnic tables, plenty of parking space and, best of all, we were able to take our dogs with us at no additional cost.

The owner is a lovely lady who was very welcoming, helpful and extraordinarily tolerant of our 4 chihuahuas and elderly Dalmatian!

The house is in a peaceful location, up a fairly long track, surrounded by fields full of sheep and with views of the Cairngorms. That said, it is only about a mile from Kincraig and 5 miles from Aviemore providing easy access to services by car. The surrounding area provided us with endless opportunities for walking and cycling along with the huge range of other activities available in and around Aviemore.

We would definitely stay there again.

Owner's Response: A lovely family with their friends, pets and children - needless to say the weather was fabulous and they enjoyed the Barbeque, Fantastic views over the mountains and visits to many of the interesting and enjoyable facilities which are in this area, They left the house very tidy and clean which is very much appreciated. Needless to say they are always welcome.

Cool old house; well suited for people who like quirky places

This is a very difficult place to review. Half our party loved it and half hated it. The house is old and very ornate and beautiful, but it is in a bit of disrepair. The house is set a good bit off the main roads in the midst of some sheep farms, but has easy access to Aviemore, Kinguisse, and the A9 to get around the highlands; overall around one hour south from Inverness. There were two huge bedrooms upstairs, a king bedroom and a room with two singles, with a shared bathroom between them. On the main level, there is also a king room with bathroom outside and a room with two singles. It was plenty of space for our group of 8. The house wasn't dirty, but it was falling apart in places, for instance the upstairs bathroom has a wall made of painted sytrofoam, presumably because the plaster wall had rotted behind it. If you like your rental homes to be modern and pristine, pass on this one. If you like old houses full of antique furniture and elaborate decorations, but don't mind the quirks and a bit of dilapidation, you'll love this country home in the highlands. Just don't forget to stop in Dalwinnie on your way back to Edinburgh for a nice dram or two.

Amazing weekend away

The house is stunning, spacious, warm and very easy to find. The location makes it perfect for hill walking and trips to nearby lochs. There was 8 of us staying in the house and we all had such an amazing weekend away. We were lucky that the weather was brilliant so we managed to have 3 BBQs. Perfect for a group of friends or a family get away. We'll definitely be coming back!
