About Joanne Bell

I live in Windermere, and have been running Mrs T’s for 6 yrs. I enjoy meeting people and providing a home from home experience.

Joanne Bell purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Joanne Bell chose Windermere

Mrs Tiggywinkles really benefits form being in Windermere as it central and has both train and bus station within walking distance. Also you can walk to Bowness and jump on a ferry and this will take you on Lake Windermere. There are great restaurants on your doorstep and our local supermarket Booths. It is set back away from the main street so has little noise, yet within a stones throw away from the town centre. Mrs Tiggy's has private parking for one car.

What makes this apartment unique

The property benefits from private parking, also being so close to the train station you could leave your car at home. It is bright and modern with all the benefits of being home from home. The best thing about this property is your ability to walk from your front door to find lovely walks,

restaurants, local shops, and all the other benefits that come with being in a Great Location!!!

Wonderful property, spotlessly clean & super comfy. Although the weather let us down, the wifi meant that the children were happy! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Cosy and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

We had a great week here in a cosy but still spacious property. The abundance of walk books was very useful and we left the car in the parking space for most of our stay. The kitchen was well equipped and beds comfy. The DVD player (or its lead) had a fault but we had a film night using our computer instead. We loved the walk to Orrest Head and went up there to watch the sunset almost every evening too. Would highly recommend the walk up to Hill Top using the ferry (we also walked the first section to Bowness too). Thanks for a wonderful break.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Lovely warm cottage with views of distant hills covered in snow. Well equipped and cleanly kept - ideal for activities and returning to eat and dry out. We really enjoyed our stay and the location helped us to be centrally based with all local amenities yet able to reach a wide range of rural locations - the best of both worlds.

Lovely immaculate apartment in the centre of Windermere

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic three night break here over half term. A great base from which to explore the Lakes. It was spacious but cosy. In a quiet spot just seconds walk into Windermere with lots of places to eat and drink. Mrs Bell the owner was really helpful and welcoming and easy to get hold of to check details for the stay. Lots of supplies for us in the cupboards so we could make a cuppa when we arrived....and even a lovely lemon cake! Highly recommended this place to stay...we had brilliant sunshine and a view of snow on top of the mountains to top it all off.

Perfect location for exploring the lakes. Very convenient being just off the High St in Windermere.

Comfortable, clean property. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed. Met all our requirements. Joanne was helpful and friendly. Would recommend 100%.

The website said that towels were provided but they weren’t. Joanne gladly supplied us with some but this needs clarifying for future guests.

About the local area

Lake Windermere is perhaps the best know area in the Lake District and Windermere village itself is about 1km from the lake. The lake stretches from Waterhead, near Ambleside, to Lakeside at its narrow southern end, over 10 miles in length and the largest lake in England. Wooded slopes dotted with cottages and houses line its shores, while the water itself is usually busy with ferries and yachts.

Windermere is not as busy as it’s near neighbour, Bowness-on-Windermere, but has its own charms and attractions. It has excellent amenities and a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars all within easy reach. The village has good public transport links with its own train station and bus routes.

Coast/Beach:

Coast/Beach

The Lake District boasts a host of lakes, tarns and meres. However should you wish to visit the sea, Arnside (possibly has the best chip shop ever!) is only 18 miles away, with Grange and Morecambe Bay just a little further.

As well as a National Park, the Lake District received worldwide recognition in 2017 when we were granted World Heritage Status by UNESCO! Something we are extremely proud of.

It mainly comprises of grey slate buildings which are nestled between the Rivers Kent and Gowan.
