Perfect location for exploring the lakes. Very convenient being just off the High St in Windermere.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable, clean property. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed. Met all our requirements. Joanne was helpful and friendly. Would recommend 100%.

The website said that towels were provided but they weren’t. Joanne gladly supplied us with some but this needs clarifying for future guests.

Great base in Windermere

  • 4 of 5

We spent the week after Christmas in the accommodation and had a great time at Mrs Tiggywinkle’s. Centrally located in the town, but away from the traffic noise, the property has all you need to enjoy the week in the Lakes. Every day we walked from Mrs T’s into the local countryside, finding a pub for a well earned lunch. The Wild Boar, Mortal Man, Cuckoo Brow and Watermill Inn are all within easy reach and provide excellent refreshment after a good morning’s walk.

Even if you are not as keen to hit the hills or the weather puts a dampener on things, Mrs T’s has plenty of amenities to keep you entertained. Access to wi-fi and numerous dvds are provided for your enjoyment.

We have no hesitation in recommending this property to anybody looking to stay in Windermere.

fab little find!

  • 5 of 5

Mrs Tiggywinkles was exactly what we hopped it would be. Comfortable, cosy, a home from home. Tucked away behind the main street in Windermere we were close to all amenities but without the noise that goes with it 😊. Its perfectly situated for all the attractions we wanted to see and we had good weather. Joanne popped in to make sure everything was ok, the lemon cake was a welcome sight when we arrived. We will definitely stay there again if we go to Lakes, which i hope we do as it was beautiful.

Lovely Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for more from this holiday home. The accommodation was superb, a real home from home. The location was ideal for us, right in the centre of beautiful Windermere with shops, restaurants and pubs hardly a 5 minute walk. You can walk to Bowness and Lake Windermere, a nice 20 minute stroll. It was our first visit to The Lake District and we loved it. The owner Joanne Bell had thought about everything you would want from a holiday home. She popped in to check that everything was ok and made us feel at home. If you are looking for a place to stay in The Lakes, this is it.

About Joanne Bell

I live in Windermere, and have been running Mrs T’s for 6 yrs. I enjoy meeting people and providing a home from home experience.

Joanne Bell purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Joanne Bell chose Windermere

Mrs Tiggywinkles really benefits form being in Windermere as it central and has both train and bus station within walking distance. Also you can walk to Bowness and jump on a ferry and this will take you on Lake Windermere. There are great restaurants on your doorstep and our local supermarket Booths. It is set back away from the main street so has little noise, yet within a stones throw away from the town centre. Mrs Tiggy's has private parking for one car.

What makes this apartment unique

The property benefits from private parking, also being so close to the train station you could leave your car at home. It is bright and modern with all the benefits of being home from home. The best thing about this property is your ability to walk from your front door to find lovely walks,

restaurants, local shops, and all the other benefits that come with being in a Great Location!!!

About the local area

Lake Windermere is perhaps the best know area in the Lake District and Windermere village itself is about 1km from the lake. The lake stretches from Waterhead, near Ambleside, to Lakeside at its narrow southern end, over 10 miles in length and the largest lake in England. Wooded slopes dotted with cottages and houses line its shores, while the water itself is usually busy with ferries and yachts.

Windermere is not as busy as it’s near neighbour, Bowness-on-Windermere, but has its own charms and attractions. It has excellent amenities and a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars all within easy reach. The village has good public transport links with its own train station and bus routes.

The Lake District boasts a host of lakes, tarns and meres. However should you wish to visit the sea, Arnside (possibly has the best chip shop ever!) is only 18 miles away, with Grange and Morecambe Bay just a little further.

As well as a National Park, the Lake District received worldwide recognition in 2017 when we were granted World Heritage Status by UNESCO! Something we are extremely proud of.
