About the Owner

Hello I bought Mrs Tiggy's 3 years ago and having been running it as a holiday let. I live in Windermere so I am close enough to manage and clean the property myself. I pride myself on cleanliness and also creating a home from home experience.

Wonderful property, spotlessly clean & super comfy. Although the weather let us down, the wifi meant that the children were happy! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

A 3 NIGHT BREAK IN THE LAKE DISTRICT

  • 5 of 5

We found the accommodation to be very clean, smart and possessed of all our requirements. The weather was fine and our trips around Windermere and Keswick were excellent. We feel there really isn't anywhere in UK more spectacular than the Lakes. .

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

A lovely spacious apartment, not far away from the railway station in the center of Windermere, but very quiet, with a nice view of the fells.

We had everything we needed, and so far this was the most beautiful apartment we've been in. It was the perfect place for our first visit to Lakeland.

Thank You, Joanne, for the wonderful week in Mrs. Tiggy Winkle's!

Summer sun at Mrs Tiggywinkles

  • 5 of 5

Mrs Tiggywinkles was beautifully clean and had everything we needed for a weeks holiday in Windermere. Joanne met us and showed us round the townhouse, it's set out well and was perfect for us and our two boys(11 and 14), we all loved the memory foam mattresses!

Set back from the main road in Windermere means you have stunning views and quiet, but walk a few steps and you are in the midst of everything, good selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and only a walk, bus or taxi ride down to Bowness. It was a fabulous base for us to visit towns and other lakes nearby.

The location had something for all of us, walks, shopping, water activities, we had a long list of things we wanted to do but didn't manage half of them-good excuse to return!

The weather was amazing, we were very lucky and had fabulous weather every day but the Friday and Saturday we were leaving, but it didn't stop us having a lovely walk in the rain.

We cannot praise Mrs Tiggywinkles and the owner Joanne enough, thank you for a wonderful holiday, hopefully we will come back

It is set back away from the main street so has little noise, yet within a stones throw away from the town centre. Mrs Tiggy's has private parking for one car.

About the local area

Lake Windermere is perhaps the best know area in the Lake District and Windermere village itself is about 1km from the lake. The lake stretches from Waterhead, near Ambleside, to Lakeside at its narrow southern end, over 10 miles in length and the largest lake in England. Wooded slopes dotted with cottages and houses line its shores, while the water itself is usually busy with ferries and yachts.

Windermere is not as busy as it’s near neighbour, Bowness-on-Windermere, but has its own charms and attractions. It has excellent amenities and a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars all within easy reach. The village has good public transport links with its own train station and bus routes.

Coast/Beach:

Coast/Beach

The Lake District boasts a host of lakes, tarns and meres. However should you wish to visit the sea, Arnside (possibly has the best chip shop ever!) is only 18 miles away, with Grange and Morecambe Bay just a little further.
