About the property

Barn in High Ham, Langport, Somerset, England - Rural Location In The Heart Of Somerset

The Old Dairy is a beautiful property located on a working family farm in the middle of High Ham. Newly converted and let for the first time in 2014, this property has a spacious feel and beautiful views over surrounding farmland and Glastonbury Tor. An entrance hallway leads to an open plan kitchen dining room and further to a large living room with patio doors to the garden. The property has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and can sleep up to 6 persons (with a double sofa bed in the living room). The local area is beautiful for walking and cycling, and we are close to Glastonbury, Street and Wells, which provide many opportunities for days out, shopping and dining.

About Jane Vigar

Manor Farm is a working family farm, currently run by Jane and John Vigar. John grew up here on the farm, and came home to work after finishing at Agricultural college in Devon. The couple brought up their three children on the farm, and continue to welcome young members of the extended family who love to visit. Their eldest, Andrew, lives nearby and now works closely with his parents. John, Jane and Andrew farm a large sheep flock and a beef cattle herd on land adjoining or close to the farmhouse. When not farming, John is a keen member of the parish council and the local bellringers, while Jane enjoys spending time in her garden.

Jane Vigar purchased this barn in 1949

Why Jane Vigar chose South Somerset

.

What makes this barn unique

After stopping the milking of their dairy herd in 2005, John and Jane realised that the old dairy had the potential to be a great holiday home due to its large size and spectacular views. The village is a welcoming and friendly community, and this area is popular with holidaymakers.

The property was beautiful, it had everything you could need and more, the views were amazing, the barn conversion was modern yet full of character and homely. The owner was very welcoming & friendly. We would definitely highly recommend this property for a holiday and will certainly be looking to stay there again.

Lovely property with fantastic view

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful property and we would definitely like to stay again (for longer hopefully after a short break this time). It was well equipped and spacious with tasteful décor - well positioned for exploring the Somerset Levels. The owners were friendly and very helpful with our stay.

Spacious and comfortable barn conversion with lovely views from property,

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4nights at this property which is very spacious and has a relaxing atmosphere. Lovely views of Somerset levels and beyond. Owners John and Jane friendly and helpful. Also rare to find somewhere with separate bathroom and shower. We enjoyed the various nature reserves nearby so would recommend to bird watchers.

Large, Airy, Clean, Comfortable with Great views

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped with great views over the Somerset levels towards Glastonbury and beyond. We will use the property again in the future, Sadly no pub in the village but The Halfway House is an old fashioned pub with wooden chairs and benches. it is about 3 miles away and offers a wide range of beers and excellent food also good food is available from the Kelway Inn in Langport. Villages of Glastonbury, Somerton, Street, are all within easy reach and there are a few National trust properties nearby.

Stunning Views to Glastonbury Tor

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend in this property, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The barn was a real home from home, and had everything we required, and more. The owners were very warm and welcoming and were happy for my young daughter to visit the pigs and give them their daily apple treat! The property itself was very spacious, with a lovely little garden leading out from the patio doors. We sat and had a drink whilst watching the sun disappear over the horizon. We would definitely return if we were in the local area.

Lovely property, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this converted dairy for a week and found the property to be to a high standard.

Main room was lovely open plan area. Bedroom with double bed had skylight windows and let in lots of light and was good to have en suite bathroom aswell as the dowstairs bathroom with enormous shower!

Childrens bedroom comfortable. Kitchen very modern with everything you would need.

Outside in the back was a lovely garden with the chicken run at the bottom.

We really were in the middle of a working farm which was great espcially being next to the barn with the pigs especially the piglets.

The view from the back garden looking onto the Somerset levels was amazing and the village of High Ham is lovely.

Jane was very friendly and helpful, sending her son over when had a problem with the internet.

This property itself is lovely and is in a beautiful area and is fairly near to lots to do.

Would highly recommend this property
