Apartment near Fortrose, Scottish Highlands - A Very Quiet And Peaceful Location Surround By Farmland And Just 3½ Miles From The Coast

With free high speed broadband our self catering 1st floor flat is located over our former stable/outbuilding and is separate from and not overlooked by our main house. The Hayloft is sheltered by trees and surrounded by arable farmland. On the balcony you can enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon and evening sun. We are just 3½ miles from coastal villages with restaurants, pubs, fish & chip shops, Chinese and Indian take-away, Co-op mini supermarkets and a wonderful bakery. Nearby you can enjoy golf, horse riding, quad biking, mountain biking (we can lend you a couple of bikes) dolphin watching from the beach and boat trips. There are swimming pools in Inverness and Dingwall. It is just over an hour drive to Ullapool on the West Coast and the mountains and lochs of the Highlands are within easy reach.

About Su and John Hay

We love peace and quiet and moved here to this peaceful spot 22 years ago. After making our living editing television programmes we are approaching retirement and our family has flown the nest so we now have space to share our peace and quiet with others. The flat above our outbuilding was initially for our son to live in. He is now a cameraman in Edinburgh and so we have upgraded it for visitors to enjoy.

We love animals and birds, music, cooking and our family.

Why Su and John Hay chose Scottish Highlands & Islands

We have lived at Blairfoid on the Black Isle for 22 years. We came here 24 years ago to visit friends… several times and loved it so much we moved here. Sometimes we still feel like we are on holiday.

We love the lack of traffic, the peace and quiet and the red kites & buzzards flying overhead.

Nearby at Chanonry Point we can watch dolphins.

What makes this apartment unique

Despite being very quiet and private we are only 3½ miles from the coastal villages of Fortrose, Avoch and Rosemarkie with shops, restaurants, pubs and beautiful beaches. We are just 12 miles from Inverness the capital of the Highlands.

The West Coast and the mountains and lochs of the Highlands are within easy reach.

Tolle kleine Unterkunft zum Relaxen

Tolle kleine Unterkunft, die alles hat was man benötigt. Ein kleiner Ofen war vorhanden, der bei unserer Ankunft schon angeheizt war. Das Vermieterehepaar war sehr nett und bei eventuell auftretenden Problemen oder Fragen jederzeit ansprechbar. Die Lage ist in einer sehr ruhigen Gegend in einem großen Tal, wer also sich erholen möchte, das ist der richtige Ort, kein Verkehrslärm absolut nichts. Wer den Norden Schottlands, Nordwesten sowie Nordosten erkunden möchte hat von hier aus alle Möglichkeiten. Es ist alles für schottische Verhältnisse in relativ kurzer Zeit erreichbar.

Fabulous find!

The Hayloft was a perfect little find - clean, comfortable, cosy and a great location for exploring the area. John & Sue kindly lit the stove before we arrived which made for a lovely beginning to our stay - there was everything we needed and it was so peaceful waking up to the sound of birds singing. Also, if you like star gazing, the night sky here was beautiful!

A comfortable apartment, very well-equipped and exceptionally cosy with its wood-burning stove. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well-located studio in beautiful countryside, with Sue and John being perfect hosts. We'll definitely be back.

Wonderful place ot get away from it all.

We spent a great fortnight unwinding in this cosy cottage, which, although compact, is very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The owners were friendly and helpful, bur did not intrude. We enjoyed cycling around the Black Isle, despite some interesting weather! We very much enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it. Highlights were Cromarty, watching the dolphins, and Cawdor Castle.

Magical Hidden Gem!

By far the best holiday, and property we've stayed in, up on the Black Isle to date. It's modern, spotlessly clean, and very cozy. Owners John, and Su, are lovely people, making you very welcome on arrival. The great thing was, you were just left alone, and it was so peaceful and quiet. It was such a shame to leave and go home. But a stay here, on a return trip to the Black Isle, is a no brainer! We'd both like to thank them again, for such a special holiday.

A deposit is required for a booking that is made more than 8 weeks before the commencement of the holiday. Otherwise, if within 8 weeks of the start holiday, the full amount is payable when booking.

Changeover Day:
The Hayloft has a Saturday changeover. The arrival time is 4pm and departure is by 10am to allow time for cleaning etc.

Payment usually by bank transfer or cheque if time to clear.
Approximately 25% booking deposit required, with balance to be paid not less than eight weeks before start of holiday.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
