Cottage in Carnforth, Lancashire/Cumbria-South Lakes , England - Idyllic, Rural, Yet Convenient Location

With amazing views of Ingleborough/Yorkshire Dales, the Lakeland Fells, Morecambe Bay and spectacular sunsets over Arnside Knott, this impressive detached, ground floor and lower level property, nestles into the bed rock above the clear blue water of Jackdaw Quarry, which takes its name from the Jackdaws that roost there. The area is abundant in nature and bird life. The property is clad in local stone, has a grass roof and with its several glass balconies, blends seamlessly into the hillside. 'One Clearwater@Jackdaw Quarry'- situated in a private gated development - offers private parking, gardens to either side and front - the lawned side garden also being gated and accessible from the rear covered veranda, decked/paved terraces extending over three levels, the lower of which has a superb five-person hot tub overlooking the water below. This tub level patio is accessed via a set of stone stairs from the lower bedroom level verandah. The lower bedroom level is accessed internally and by a unique exterior spiral staircase from the ground level verandah. The front entrance/verandah also has a slope entry suitable for wheelchair access. The stylish interior is equally impressive with quality fixtures and fittings, including underfloor heating throughout, central vacuum system, travertine and bamboo flooring, spacious and contemporary bathrooms on both levels, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms boasting large beds and high thread count linen, all of which are equipped with a TV/DVD player. The superb, large open-plan living area is most definitely the heart of this wonderful home, from where you are immediately drawn to the spectacular views beyond and when the bi-fold doors are pulled back, the living space extends to the outdoors onto the spacious 20 m² decked verandah, making you feel part of this truly unique location. Apart from the stunning views, the living area offers plenty of comfortable seating from which to enjoy entertainment provided by a 47” Smart 3D TV with Freesat, 3D Blu-ray DVD player and Wii games console. For dining, there is a large oak table to comfortably seat 6, as well as the breakfast bar and for al-fresco dining, the main terrace has a large table, chairs and gas barbecue. Situated near Carnforth on the border between Lancashire and the South Lakes and just a few miles from the M6, Jackdaw Quarry is home to one of the UK’s premier scuba diving centres with a PADI dive school. With a maximum depth of 65ft and stocked with fish and in-water attractions such as sunken wrecks, it offers something for everyone from beginners’ taster sessions to specialised courses for the more experienced. The centre also has a dive shop and café which has a fully licensed bar. Open-water swimming can also be arranged via the dive centre. One Clearwater @ Jackdaw Quarry's excellent location provides easy access to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Ingleborough, with great walks, cycling, climbing on the fells, delightful villages and plenty of exploring to be experienced. Locally, there are many lovely walks to be found. If your into fishing then you may be interested in the several local and excellent fishing lakes, along with the Lancaster canal. Places of interest nearby include Silverdale and Arnside (10 miles), Kendal (18 miles), Ingleton (14 miles), Kirkby Lonsdale (10 miles) and Windermere (33 miles). Lancashire’s Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland can also be reached in under an hour. For those who prefer a coastal landscape, Morecambe, with its sandy beach is just 7 miles and Grange-over-Sands, 23 miles. Village shop and pub 1 mile, restaurants and farm shop 2 miles, with many more in the area.

The house was immaculate with a great view over the quarry.

High standard of comfort and a warm homely feel.

Had everything you would need for a fabulous stay.

The weather was rotten so we didn't really explore the area but the local shops for supplies are only a five minute drive away.

Carol and David were wonderful hosts.

The perfect week ......

How lucky were we, my husband, mother and myself enjoyed a week in this superb property in a fabulous location with fantastic weather.

The reality was better than the description on this property, you cannot write enough about it, truly amazing! The beds very very comfy, everywhere extremely clean and well maintained, We spoke with David, the owner, who gave us great advice on local goings on and eateries in the area.

We wanted for nothing, wifi, films , BBQ and having breakfast on the balcony in the sun was such a delight.

Even Mother was persuaded to go in the hot tub with a glass (plastic) of champagne!!

We would highly recommend a stay at this property, indeed we will be back in a couple of months.

Over Kellet Nr Carnforth Lancashire

A family break to spend quality time together, and this property had everything. From the moment we arrived till the time we left, we had a chilled relaxing break. The location is 5mins from junction 35 M6. Our first impression of the property was wow, extremely clean, very spacious and comfortable. The house has absolutely everything you need. The best part of the weekend was the hot tub which 5 of us enjoyed and managed to fit in. Overlooked the quarry water which was very entertaining watching the divers and swimmers over the weekend.

A couple of minor issues was the hot tub had a foisty smell which didn't go away after using a couple of times, and the outside balcony needed a little more tlc.

The house hosts 2 showers and when being used at the same time didn't maintain temperature and was cool.

Overall a brilliant property and would stay again.

Owner's Response: We are pleased you had a good weekend and enjoyed yourselves at our property. Our balconies, glass balustrades, garden and hot tub are tended to on a regular basis, not sure what TLC refers to with regard to the balcony, and the hot tub filters have been thoroughly cleaned again.

stunning property

We stayed as a family of 5 from the 15th-18th of august for a long diving weekend. The lodge is beautiful the photographs dont do it justice we couldnt of asked for a more perfect break away it is ideally situated at jackdaw quarry which made the diving easier for us as a family. The lodge itself is immaculate and the decor is beautiful.The owners provide all bed linen and towels and lots of nice little touches such as shampoo conditioner and cleaning equipment.The bedrooms are all large and the two lower floor ones open onto a veranda which looks out on the quarry. The hot tub is a added bonus which the children took advantage of. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be booking it again in the future.

A hammock which can be attached to the overhanging chain. Gas BBQ which connects to the house LPG supply. 3 semi-reclining sun chairs/beds.
