A wonderful fortnight in Kalkan!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 6, 2 adults and 4 children aged 11, 9, 7 and 4.

Jackie could not have been more helpful, she providing us with lots of information about the villa and Kalkan before our trip and kindly organised our transfers. We were delayed on the way out so missed our connecting flight but one phone call to Jackie and she notified the taxi company of our new flight details.

The villa is exactly as described and we could not fault it. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable during our stay. The pool area is fantastic and our kids spent hours jumping in and playing on their inflatables. My husband and I swam lengths and then mainly lay on the sunbeds reading our books, could not have been more perfect! The pool is maintained and the area cleaned daily. The pool guy would also bring us milk and bread daily to save us heading down to the supermarket so often. The supermarkets are a 10 minute walk away and staff very pleasant. We tended to buy our meat at the butchers and fruit and veg at the greengrocers.

The beds are comfortable and we always had lots of hot water for our showers. It was really handy having a washing machine and such a nice change to be able to dry it outside in no time.

The kitchen is well equipped with a dish washer and we enjoyed having the occasional bbq in the evening when we weren't down in the town eating at one of the delicious restaurants. We visited a few restaurants and would definitely recommend The Olive Garden, Doy Doy and Paprika. The staff could not do enough to make you feel welcome and really spoil the children. We would walk down to the restaurants but always get a taxi back, a no brainer at £2.50 a ride!

We visited two of the local beaches, Kaputas and Patara which were both gorgeous. We also went down to Kalkan beach which was also lovely and very safe for the kids.

You must go on a boat for the day, it's a great day out and very reasonable. We went twice and wish we had discovered how fun it was before our second week.

All in all, we had a wonderful and very memorable time in Kalkan, we would definitely not hesitate in recommending Villa Belis.

Thank you!

Fantastic, clean villa, with awesome views and lovely swimming pool.

  • 5 of 5

Jackie couldn't have made our holiday anymore hassle free if she tried, from the moment we stepped off the plane to the sad moment we had to leave.

Absolutely fantastic villa with great sized bedrooms, well equipped kitchen (not that we used it much as the restaurants in Kalkan are fabulous). It's a short walk to the beach, bars and restaurants. We chose to get taxis back.... I'm not the most athletic and paying the equivalent to £2 seemed silly not too!!

We went out on a boat trip which I highly recommend, great day out and lovely lunch on board!

Look forward to booking villa belis for next year.

Thank you again for a hassle free, fantastic holiday.

Villa Belis is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our stay in Villa Belis with 2 children under the age of 4. We had an amazing time and Villa Belis is perfect. The villa is very spacious and clean and has everything you could need. The private pool and gardens are lovely with an amazing view of the sea.

The villa is in a quiet area, perfect for relaxing in the daytime. We walked into Kalkan in the evenings and there are plenty of lovely restaurants, shops and cocktail bars. All of the locals are very friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing. We got a taxi back to the villa very easily as there are a number of different taxi ranks in the town.

We are looking forward to returning to villa Belis in the future and we will be recommending it to friends and family.

Chaming

  • 4 of 5

My partner and I stayed in Villa Belis for 12 nights it was wonderful. The owner arranged transfers for us which was first class service and would recommend you use this. The villa was spotless and ideal for our holiday needs. It has 3 rooms the 2 double en-suites were great the 3rd bedroom is very small. The dishwasher was a god send and the pool area was cleaned daily. We were fortunate enough that the neighbouring villas were empty so we had total privacy. The view was to die for and we would never have tired of it. The sea and mountains were stunning and the villas below lit up after sunset were idyllic. You must sit on the roof terrace we spent every evening before going for our dinner with a chilled drink and watch the sunset it was heavenly. We ate out most nights. The locals were very friendly, polite and helpful, lovely people. We must say the food was high quality (5 star) we never had a bad meal in fact they just got better and better every time we dined out. The roof top restaurants were spectacular and were very good value (starters, fillet steaks, dessert, wine, brandy, coffee for myself and my partner total cost £40 !!!) Whatever restaurant we went to the service was very good, very attentive, polite and friendly. The restaurants we would recommend are :- The Moonstone, The Nar, Avalon (book balcony), Aubergine, Sofra (classical guitarist - bliss) and Gourmet - book table in advance for a sea view, all these restaurants are fabulous. The old town of Kalkan is just charming, quaint, relaxed and very romantic. The weather whilst we were there (end of Sept to beginning of Oct) was in the 80's total bliss, also a very important point is that there were hardly any mosquitos - the council spray the harbour morning and night which really helped. I would recommend Villa Belis as we were very happy with our stay. If we were to have any negatives they would be that the air con was not very cold it didn't go below 16 degrees which meant villa wasn't as cool as we would have liked it. Also we would suggest a small cooler on the roof terrace would be beneficial as we did get a little exhausted going up and down the spiral stair case to get ice cubes, and a top up. Apart from these two very small negative points Villa Belis was brilliant you would not be disappointed. My partner and I intend to return next year to experience the rest of Kalkan. Our advice is GO you must experience this charming town.

Great views of Kalkan and a beautiful pool

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Kalkan and Villa Belis but I don't think it will be our last. Villa Belis is an attractive, well maintained and comfortable property with a very nice swimming pool and outdoor patio/garden area with views over Kalkan Bay. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Jackie, the owner, was very helpful in arranging transfers and car hire for us and I would certainly recommend using this option. Kalkan is a pretty, vibrant, seaside resort which is clearly very popular with English tourists but thankfully doesn't have a fish and chip shop/pseudo Irish pub/tattoo parlour in sight. It does have a huge number of restaurants and I have to say we didn't have one bad meal (and we ate out a lot as it's very good value!) - our favourites were 'Small House', 'Yelken' (in Kalamar), 'Avalon' and 'Olive Garden'. We visited Patara Beach on several occasions - it has a lovely long sandy beach and great sea bathing with quite a nice beach cafe. We also enjoyed looking round the ruins at Tlos, Xanthos and Patara - all of which are stunning but Tlos in particular should not be missed. We also visited Saklikent Gorge which is a must see but be prepared to get wet (ie wear your swimming costume or something you don' mind getting soaked and also take or hire rubber shoes) as you need to wade across a fast flowing river holding on to a rope at the start of your walk into the Gorge itself (the water was thigh high on me). I did feel that health and safety would probably have kicked in to make this safer if this had been in the UK as it's not something I would attempt with a small child in my arms for example or if I was infirm or elderly and there don't seem to be any warning signs around before you enter the Gorge itself but it is something to be aware of. We also visited the Gizlikent Waterfall nearby which was well worth a visit (but quite a steep climb down steps to then walk up a stream for about 10 minutes to reach) - again, not for the very young or old! The Turkish people were extremely polite and friendly and I would certainly recommend both Villa Belis and Kalkan to anybody (unless they wanted to avoid English tourists at all costs!).

Location

From the Owner

We have enjoyed many perfect family holidays in Kalkan. Villa Belis has everything we need for a wonderful holiday. It is in such an ideal location with the most stunning views and a lovely pool. We are always looking forward to our next visit. We love walking down to the pretty old town area of Kalkan. It has charming shops and numerous rooftop restaurants serving incredible food at excellent prices. We also enjoy visiting the beach clubs that surround Kalkan Bay where you can sunbathe, swim and enjoy all kinds of watersports. The local people in Kalkan are the friendliest we have ever encountered and go out of their way to make sure everyone has a special holiday. Like many visitors, I am sure that once you have visited Kalkan, you will want to return time and time again.
