About the property

Villa Forconi, Gosparini, Nr. Lake Trasimeno, Umbria, Italy - 10 Minutes To Pretty And Lively Small Town And To Lake Trasimeno

Villa Forconi is a luxury holiday rental villa with wifi, pool, 4 bedrooms and 4 en suite bathrooms. The comfortable and roomy interior and well maintained garden and pool make it a great base from which to explore Umbria and Tuscany. The location is peaceful with a great view from the house down the beautiful Niccone Valley towards the more distant Appenine mountains. Within 15 minutes you can be on the superstrada heading towards Perugia in one direction, or Siena and the A1 autostrada in the other. In 10 to 15 minutes you can be at the lakeside town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, and, in the other direction, the villages of Lisciano Niccone and Mercatale di Cortona. There are three nearby places to eat, one restaurant, In Bocca al Lupo, can be reached on foot and the other two, Hotel La Cima and Lo Scoiattolo, are a 5 minute car journey or 35 minute walk along a quiet track. Around the house there are many paths and tracks ideal for walking and jogging.

Villa Forconi is rented exclusively by Gorgacce Rentals: renting houses since 1993.

About Martin and Emma Daykin

I am the booking agent for Villa Forconi, my name is Emma and I live nearby in the Niccone Valley, with my husband, Martin, two daughters and our cat and dog. We run a small rentals agency called Gorgacce Rentals, named after the first house my parents owned here which they bought in the 1980's. In those days before the internet they were very successful at renting their house to holiday-makers and their neighbours asked if they could rent their houses too and from this grew our rentals agency. Seeking a better life Martin and I (with our then one year old daughter, Isabel,) moved here in 1999 and have taken over most of the running of the rental business although my mum still keeps the accounts! Martin runs regular wine tastings at the vineyard in the valley. He is also a keen walker and often takes people on guided walks and he has written a book of local walks available as an e-book called "Circular Walks on the Tuscany Umbria Border".

Why Martin and Emma Daykin chose Cortona area

Villa Forconi is fantastically comfortable. Complete peace and privacy. The English speaking house-keeper Mirella does a wonderful job of looking after the house and guests.

As booking agents who live nearby we want all our guests to enjoy their stay at Villa Forconi. You can book knowing that we are on hand to deal with problems that may arise during your stay, we are always available by phone, text, WhatsApp and by email.

What makes this villa unique

We invite all our guests to a wine tasting evening at the local vineyard. This is a regular event run by by husband Martin Daykin who recently passed his Italian Sommeliers Association exams.

The Perfect Setting

  • 5 of 5

Our group of four couples enjoyed the lovely and comfortable accommodations, ideal location and quiet setting for the perfect base camp. You could visit several historic hill towns in a one hour radius. Tuoro local supermarket and restaurants were beyond expectation and convenience. Camucia Cortona train station, just a short 30 minute hop from Villa, made travel to Florence central city so easy and convenient that it eliminated having to deal with traffic and parking. This well appointed villa could not have been better for four couples. (We drew straws for bedrooms upon arrival to start our start our vacation on a level playing field and make our stay there a wonderful week.) Communications with owners prior to stay were very helpful and informative and down the road, villa caretaker Mirella was very welcoming upon our arrival and there to see us off. Remember, to have a great experience in the countryside, you have to get off the beaten path.

Tremendous secluded property

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely tremendous house. Location is secluded, approached through woods on a white road, we managed fine in an underpowered family car. It's not far to the town of Tuoro. The standard of accommodation is well above most rental houses. Fabulous food to be had in all the local restaurants we tried there is a good book of suggestions at the house. We would happily return.

Privacy and stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We loved the ambiance, décor and quality that the villa exuded and we would have no hesitation in returning in the future or recommending to others. We appreciated its privacy, the stunning views and the tranquillity of the location. We achieved all our objectives...train to Firenze, car to Siena but failed to find suitable time for some wine tasting! Enjoyed being a "pool boy" for the week and made frequent use of BBQ.

Bellissimo, a villa to cherish

  • 4 of 5

From when you arrive at the villa, everything is superb. Airy sumptuous villa with amazing kitchen and pool. Nino need for air con as screen and shutters provide a great night's sleep. So many wonderful artefacts you feel you are in someone's home. Little touches like loads of luxurious pool towels and loungers. Space for everyone to do their own thing and complete privacy. Only grouch, the 25 minute drive through the forest to get there and a little more for supermarkets and most restaurants. Verdict? Ci tornaremmo, we'll go back!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review of Villa Forconi we are glad you enjoyed your stay there. It's only 5 minutes drive to the main road! And at that junction is a trattoria and a hotel with pizzeria - both with stunning views over Lake Trasimeno. It's another 5 minutes drive to the lakeside town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno.

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Myself, husband and three sons aged 20, 18 and 13 enjoyed a relaxing week at Villa Forconi. The villa is chic, modern and quite luxurious and the listing describes the villa and facilities well.

All mod cons are available from the three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, tv room, large family size kitchen diner, decent size swimming pool, outdoor dining with barbeque and the essential wi-fi.

The additional living room come lounge was lovely for us to relax in during the evening playing board games and listening to music; there were plenty of games to use and a large selection of books at the villa too.

The villa is a little remote but we enjoyed the tranquility and solitude. Finding the villa would not be particularly easy without the excellent directions provided. However, Tuoro is just a twenty minute drive where we found a decent supermarket.

When we first arrived we were met by Mirella who helped us settle in to the property; our arrival was delayed, due to a lengthy 2.5 hour wait at Rome airport to collect our car, but Mirella went out of her way to welcome us on our late arrival.

We ate out at local Tuoro restaurants ll Vecchio Mulino where we felt the food was great value and at I Capricci di Merion where the food was excellent. We also had scrumptious pastries and coffees at Lo Scoiattolo, just ten minutes drive away.

A throughly good holiday was had and the villa is somewhere we could happily recommend to family and friends.

Enjoy Tuscany and Umbria in this luxury villa

  • 5 of 5

Second time we've stayed here - previously in 2013. It's a superb area to stay in, convenient for hillside towns and the lake. Excellent support as always from the helpful agent, from advice on the area, local restaurants, the booking process, down to the warm welcome when we arrived. High quality villa, well appointed and everything you need. Tranquil surroundings. Highly recommended.
