About the property

Villa Forconi, Gosparini, Nr. Lake Trasimeno, Umbria, Italy - 10 Minutes To Pretty And Lively Small Town And To Lake Trasimeno

Villa Forconi is a luxury holiday rental villa with wifi, pool, 4 bedrooms and 4 en suite bathrooms. The comfortable and roomy interior and well maintained garden and pool make it a great base from which to explore Umbria and Tuscany. The location is peaceful with a great view from the house down the beautiful Niccone Valley towards the more distant Appenine mountains. Within 15 minutes you can be on the superstrada heading towards Perugia in one direction, or Siena and the A1 autostrada in the other. In 10 to 15 minutes you can be at the lakeside town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, and, in the other direction, the villages of Lisciano Niccone and Mercatale di Cortona. There are three nearby places to eat, one restaurant, In Bocca al Lupo, can be reached on foot and the other two, Hotel La Cima and Lo Scoiattolo, are a 5 minute car journey or 35 minute walk along a quiet track. Around the house there are many paths and tracks ideal for walking and jogging.

Why I don't take payment through this website:

I have been renting houses in the area of Italy in which I live for more than 25 years, using my own website at Gorgacce Rentals and many other listing websites such as Trpadvisor, etc. I have been renting on Owners Direct/HomeAway/VRBO/Homelidays/Arbitrel (all now owned by Expedia) since these websites existed. In 2016 they fell under the umbrella of Expedia and there have been big changes since. Although I still pay them handsomely to list all my houses on their website, they now also charge a "service fee" to all guests. For each booking paid for through their website they also take a 3% surcharge from my rental. In order for me to keep prices down I take my own payments; bank transfer, credit card or UK cheque to my UK registered company. Please feel free to phone me if you want to discuss this or any other matter related to the rental.

About Martin and Emma Daykin

I am the booking agent for Villa Forconi, my name is Emma and I live nearby in the Niccone Valley, with my husband, Martin, two daughters and our cat and dog. We run a small rentals agency called Gorgacce Rentals, named after the first house my parents owned here which they bought in the 1980's. In those days before the internet they were very successful at renting their house to holiday-makers and their neighbours asked if they could rent their houses too and from this grew our rentals agency. Seeking a better life Martin and I (with our then one year old daughter, Isabel,) moved here in 1999 and have taken over most of the running of the rental business although my mum still keeps the accounts! Martin runs regular wine tastings at the vineyard in the valley. He is also a keen walker and often takes people on guided walks and he has written a book of local walks available as an e-book called "Circular Walks on the Tuscany Umbria Border".

Why Martin and Emma Daykin chose Cortona area

Villa Forconi is fantastically comfortable. Complete peace and privacy. The English speaking house-keeper Mirella does a wonderful job of looking after the house and guests.

As booking agents who live nearby we want all our guests to enjoy their stay at Villa Forconi. You can book knowing that we are on hand to deal with problems that may arise during your stay, we are always available by phone, text, WhatsApp and by email. We have decided not to use Owners Direct online booking service so that we do not have to pass on their processing fee to our guests. We have also been made aware that Owners Direct can be very slow at responding to problems with payments and return of security deposits.

Bellissimo, a villa to cherish

  • 4 of 5

From when you arrive at the villa, everything is superb. Airy sumptuous villa with amazing kitchen and pool. Nino need for air con as screen and shutters provide a great night's sleep. So many wonderful artefacts you feel you are in someone's home. Little touches like loads of luxurious pool towels and loungers. Space for everyone to do their own thing and complete privacy. Only grouch, the 25 minute drive through the forest to get there and a little more for supermarkets and most restaurants. Verdict? Ci tornaremmo, we'll go back!

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Myself, husband and three sons aged 20, 18 and 13 enjoyed a relaxing week at Villa Forconi. The villa is chic, modern and quite luxurious and the listing describes the villa and facilities well.

All mod cons are available from the three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, tv room, large family size kitchen diner, decent size swimming pool, outdoor dining with barbeque and the essential wi-fi.

The additional living room come lounge was lovely for us to relax in during the evening playing board games and listening to music; there were plenty of games to use and a large selection of books at the villa too.

The villa is a little remote but we enjoyed the tranquility and solitude. Finding the villa would not be particularly easy without the excellent directions provided. However, Tuoro is just a twenty minute drive where we found a decent supermarket.

When we first arrived we were met by Mirella who helped us settle in to the property; our arrival was delayed, due to a lengthy 2.5 hour wait at Rome airport to collect our car, but Mirella went out of her way to welcome us on our late arrival.

We ate out at local Tuoro restaurants ll Vecchio Mulino where we felt the food was great value and at I Capricci di Merion where the food was excellent. We also had scrumptious pastries and coffees at Lo Scoiattolo, just ten minutes drive away.

A throughly good holiday was had and the villa is somewhere we could happily recommend to family and friends.

Enjoy Tuscany and Umbria in this luxury villa

  • 5 of 5

Second time we've stayed here - previously in 2013. It's a superb area to stay in, convenient for hillside towns and the lake. Excellent support as always from the helpful agent, from advice on the area, local restaurants, the booking process, down to the warm welcome when we arrived. High quality villa, well appointed and everything you need. Tranquil surroundings. Highly recommended.

You'll feel like a celeb!!

  • 5 of 5

I booked this villa for my family as we were getting married in Italy and needed accommodation for them. The price was very reasonable and worked out Less than a hotel per night.

The drive up to the villa is a little tricky as its a dirt track but was fine after taking it slowly and well worth it as its tucked away and very secluded with fantastic views. You feel like a celeb when the electric gates open and you drive down the tree lined drive way. The house itself is something special, very homely, modern and decorated to such a high standard. All the bedrooms are huge, each with either a sitting area, balcony or library!!! All have very large modern en suites and you feel like you have complete privacy. The lounge is really cosy with comfy sofas which you don't often get in Italian villas, it really does feel like being at home (but better). The kitchen is massive and has everything you need and all the little extras which mean you don't have to spend a fortune in the supermarket! It has a lovely big pool with lots of room around it and seating along with a lawned area to play games and a big dining table inside and out.

The villa is about a 15 minute drive from Tuoro Sul Trasimeno centre and not really in walking distance to anything but if you don't mind this then the quality and privacy of the villa is worth it. Tuoro itself is lovely with some restaraunts, bars and shops and only a few minutes on from there is a beach bar/restaurant and night club called Ciao Ciaos which is great. There is also a beach on the lake with water sports. You are a 20 minute drive from the main road to Florence, Rome and Perugia and within accesable distance to many day trips.

Lastly, the managing agent are excellent and on hand whilst there as well as replying to ensils within a day.
