Villa in Ferreiras, Near Albufeira, Central Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location Away From The Noisy Tourist Areas but only 15 minutes drive to Albufeira and Guia

This villa is a truly outstanding property in a beautiful, peaceful, rural and secluded setting, which affords absolute privacy. Situated well away from the noisy tourist areas in a country setting yet only 15 minutes drive to the gorgeous beaches close to Albufeira, and only 15 minutes drive to the Old Town or the New Town (The "Strip" as it is sometime known). It is only 10 minutes drive to Ferreiras town centre, (Ferreiras is a small town on the outskirts of Albufeira) where there is the Intermarche Supermarket, a pharmacy, many local shops and cafes. There is easy access to the A22 motorway and the EN125; driving time to Faro airport is 30 to 35 minutes with Vilamoura only 15 to 20 minutes drive away. The villa neighbours just one other but is surrounded on three sides by once farmed olive fields, mature trees and typical Portuguese countryside. In keeping with the surroundings the garden is well stocked with mature shrubs, palm trees and flowers, which border the private pool adjacent to the terrace. In terms of accommodation, the villa is on 2 floors with the main living areas on the upper level, but as can be seen from the photographs, is at the same level as the pool. There is a large lounge/dining room, large fully fitted kitchen with stunning granite worktops, 3 double bedrooms (2 of which are en-suite and all have large fitted wardrobes, the master bedroom has a dressing room) and a separate shower room. 2 of the bedrooms, and the lounge, have patio doors leading directly to the terrace and pool area. There is also a secluded and private sun terrace on the roof. The property is fully double glazed, has an alarm system & CCTV monitored by Charon, Satellite TV (not Sky), under-floor heating, fully air-conditioned, Wifi internet, BBQ, automatic garden irrigation system, extensive colour changing garden lighting and solar panels for hot water. There is a large driveway and parking area and entry is by electronic gates. The owner will be happy to speak to you before or after the booking is confirmed to give you more information and to answer any questions.

My name is Ken Paterson married to Yvonne. I work in financial services as the Compliance & Risk Director for a major national Independent Financial Adviser. Yvonne is an office manager with an estate agent, previously with a major high street bank and IBM.

We bought our first apartment at Villa Rosal in Sao Raphael near Albufeira 8 years ago. We rented it out but sold after 3 years as it did not give us the peace and quiet we wanted for our own holiday. Being in a tourist area it was so noisy around the pool and busy in the evening.

We bought the Villa new in 2009 because it offers peace and privacy being in a rural location, but only 10Kms from Albufeira old town and the "strip".

If like us you want peace and quiet but close to everything then this is it.

Why Ken Paterson chose Cerro do Ouro

The villa is in a rural location surrounded by farmland, so away from the noisy tourist areas. One other villa neighbours Villa Laurena (named after our daughter) so very peaceful without being isolated. Please note it is difficult to walk to a pub, cafe or restaurant as the nearest cafe is 2 kms away.

It is also extremely difficult to get taxis to come to the villa simply because the villa is difficult to find. We drive to the cafe, 2 kms away, and phone a taxi. Getting a taxi back is OK as you can direct the driver to the villa; and then in the morning you can take a 20 / 25 minute walk back to the cafe to pick the car up.

It is private, quiet and peaceful with lovely views over the countryside. Although a country location it is only 10 minutes drive to Ferreiras and a maximum of 15 minutes to Albufeira old town or new town. Beaches can be accessed in 15 minutes as can many golf courses.

Ferreiras is a quiet little town with the Intermarche supermarket, fruit market, chemist, cafes and lovely local restaurants or a drive of 15 minutes gets you to the famous Algarve Shopping Centre, Guia, Vilamoura and 35 minutes drive from Faro Airport.

What makes this villa unique

Peace and quiet in a top quality villa without having to put up with the noise of living in a tourist area.

It is secure with high metal fencing and electric security gates. The villa is also alarmed and monitored by the security firm Charon.

We have a local villa manager that will meet you and take you to the villa. He will also deal with any problems, arrange maid service, change of bed linen etc. and also book any excursions or golf etc. He is only a call away.

Unlike some other villas the pool is large and there is loads of patio space as well as a roof terrace.

My brother in law loved your information booklet and it was a running joke that he was 'going to see what Ken thinks'. We went to one of the restaurants you recommended in your booklet in the old town, the beach, zoo marine and scoobys on the last day which worked out so well. It's a brilliant base to get around.

A beautiful villa. My daughters told me it was like a house in the TV programme Cribs. I belive this is a compliment.

The decor and facilities are well kept and and of a very high standard. The pool and gardens are well kept and private. The villa manager Nuno was very friendly and easy to contact. Ken the villa owner could not have been better, he provided loads of useful information and contacted us several times to assist with the booking and gave us a full briefing prior to our trip. As long as you are aware that the property is quite isolated and off the tourist route this place is perfect for a family getaway.

Villa Laurena is a comfortable and we'll equipped property in a good location for visiting the coast

We had a very enjoyable week at this modern luxury villa. The owners provided a comprehensive package to help guests settle in and the local manager was always on hand to answer any queries. The villa is a little off the beaten track but this is part of its appeal as there is no noise except for the occasional train passing about 500 meters away. The villa is very private and secure and has ample parking space for 2 or 3 cars inside the gated entrance.

We are pleased to recommend this villa and certainly hope to return in the future.

Beautiful Villa

Just got back from an amazing week at villa Laurena. There were 4 adults and three children aged 4-6 and the villa was perfect for everyone. The kids loved the pool and the villa itself felt very luxurious. Ken, the owner was extremely helpful from the moment we booked and the information about where to go and what to do whilst we were there was spot on! The villa is lovely and quiet however a perfect base to get to beaches, zoomarine (great day out for kids) and the restaurants in the old town which were delicious. On the last day we went to scoobys in Gale which was a perfect place to spend the day whilst waiting to go to the airport, would highly recommend if you have children and need something to do after checking out of the villa.

It's safe to say the villa was a HUGE hit with everyone, so much so we will be booking again for next year!

Villa Laurena: a great place to stay

The villa had everything we needed, including beautiful gardens, a great pool and outside space with BBQ and the luxury of 3 bathrooms. The whole interior is lovely and the owners were really thoughtful, helpful and gave us lots of valuable information. It was easy to shop with the nearest amenities 5- 10 minutes drive away. A great base for exploring the Algarve, and close to the Algarve shopping mall. We can thoroughly recommend Villa Laurena.

stunning villa in peaceful location

We stayed at this Villa in May for a week with 4 friends , and this was our 1st time in Portugal , Which was amazing .... This villa is absolutely gorgeous , and from inside the Villa to the grounds , we couldn't fault this ... it was spotlessly clean and everything you would ever expect and need from a rental property is provided . The owners and the team in Portugal who look after it keep the Villa in amazing Condition .....

We were aware before we went about the location being a bit remote and hiring a car would be best if we wanted to get around .. We hired cars and the directions given to us were brilliant .... we were also given by the owners advice of places to visit , and given recommendations of restaurants etc .... Thank You For this as it made our holiday so much more enjoyable and we will definitely be back here in the future ...,I would like to thank Ken for allowing us to spend what was an amazing holiday in their Villa , and we would def recommend booking this villa and is suitable for all types of holiday makers whether it be couples or families , as it has all the requirements you would need ...

The wonderful beaches of Sao Raphael or Gale can be reached by car in around 15 minutes.


35 minutes comfortable drive from Faro Airport. The owner always uses the N125 but if you have not been in the Algarve before it is best to use the A22 motorway from Faro airport to the villa. The owner will advise by telephone of the best route, supply directions and where to meet Nuno the villa manager just before departure.

The villa manager (full details will be supplied) will meet you at a good location and take you to the villa. He is also only a call away to deal with any issues or to ask questions. Please note that car hire is essential.


Ferreiras is only 7 to 10 minutes drive with Albufeira old and new town 15 minutes drive. Algarve Shopping Centre is 15 minutes drive. The owner always uses the Intermarche Supermarket in Ferreiras, which is 10 minutes drive.

Further Details:

Please try the local restaurants in Ferreiras and you will be surprised at the cost. Half the cost or more than using the tourist places in Albufeira. Ferreiras also has a chemist, great butcher, local fruit market, hairdressers etc. in fact everything you will need and more.

The last 100 meters of the road into the villa is an old farm track with no tarmac but perfectly safe, photos can be supplied. There is also a railway line a few hundred meters away. There are very few trains, average one an hour, none at night and with very little noise and usually with only two carriages.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are flexible depending on bookings; please discuss with the owner before booking. The owner wants guests to be happy with the service so will accommodate requests where possible.
