About the property

Villa in Marigot Bay, St Lucia, Caribbean - A Short Walk To Marina Village With It's Bars, Restaurants And Amenities And La Bas Beach

Plantation style villa built in 2006 combining the Caribbean influence of hard wood floors, high ceilings and ceiling fans with the elegance of old English style comfortable sofas, antique and pine furniture and colourful rugs. An eclectic mix of artworks adorn the walls throughout and numerous table lamps provide soft lighting to complement the warm tropical evenings. Dining on the deck at the table which can seat up to 10/12 people looking at the twinkling lights of the boats anchored in the bay and the houses around the hillsides is a magical experience. The ground floor is open plan with 4 sets of French double doors to the deck and an open wood staircase ascending in front of an arched 2 storey window to the front, allowing maximum light. The pool is just 5 steps down from the ground floor deck and is surrounded by a wooden deck with sun loungers and privacy providing bougainvillea and other climbing flowers to one side and a small lawn and trees to the other. Below are palms and fruit trees including mango, grapefruit, lime and bananas. If you are there when the trees are in fruit you can just pick your own delicious and healthy breakfast. All three spacious first floor bedrooms open onto the upper deck and spectacular views over the visiting mega yachts in the bay and out to sea. There are no houses surrounding the villa so total privacy is ensured.

About Maggi Harrison

Maggi Harrison has now returned to Henley on Thames after living in St. Lucia for the past 9 years. She has lots of experience in hospitality and has managed and been house concierge to many properties in St. Lucia. She knows the island inside out and therefore can give lots of tips on how to get the best out of your holiday.

Why Maggi Harrison chose St Lucia

A friend was left several acres of land in Marigot Bay by his godfather. As I was looking for a new adventure and had honeymooned in St. Lucia many years earlier I asked if I could buy a plot which I subsequently did in 2004. In 2005 I moved to the island and designed and started the house build which was completed in 2007. I have now returned to the UK and would be thrilled for others to enjoy my lovely house.

What makes this villa unique

I particularly love the privacy of the property and the fact that there are no houses overlooking me. Every bedroom overlooks the pool and the bay and in the grounds I have mangos, grapefruit and bananas for a fresh fruit breakfast.

An elegant, timeless retreat in a tropical paradise!

  • 5 of 5

The minute you arrive, you know you have found a very special place. The villa is architecturally very impressive. It is spacious and airy with exceptionally high ceilings. There is beautiful dark wood flooring and ceilings which offer a welcome relief from the intense tropical sunshine. There was always a breeze and the villa never was hot. The open air porches, on 2 levels, are immense and extremely pleasant with gentle breezes and protection from the sun. The most ideal place to read books is in the cozy wicker seating area; the view, however, is quite a distraction from the reading! We ate dinner outside every evening and the crickets and other jungle-y noises only added to the experience. The villa is also very cozy in the evening with lots of warm lighting from the many table lamps. There are ceiling fans in every room and we never felt the need for a/c. And this is just the villa! The grounds are very well maintained with lots of beautiful gardens and fruit trees. The views are jaw-dropping, and not fully captured in the photos here. There is a 270 or so degree view with so much visual complexity from the view of the horizon and Caribbean Sea, to the harbor, yachts moving about and their mast lights twinkling in the evening in Marigot Bay, to the surrounding mountains and villas in the distance and all the flowers, banana and palm tress and tropical greenery. The pool is large and deep and refreshingly cool. The location is exceptionally private, yet very near to the marina (a very steep drive or walk). The restaurants along the bay are excellent, and the yachting scene in the inner harbor very vibrant and beautiful. Pauline manages the property and is a wonderful resource for any questions you may have. Her husband, Cornelius offers a magnificent boat trip to some of the other great attractions of the island including the famous beaches, Anses Chastenet and Sugar, for lunch and snorkeling and a full-on up close tour of the Pitons from the water - not to be missed. This was our first trip to St. Lucia, and we very much hope to return to this wonderful villa overlooking Marigot Bay. Five stars!

Une maison très agréable dans in site merveilleux

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommanded.

Beautiful views, stunning location.

  • 4 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at Bois Rouge over Christmas and New year. The villa is located on top of the hill overlooking Marigot bay in a quiet and secluded location. The views from the windows and terrace are to die for and must be some of the best available. The villa is comfortable, spacious and airy. It is very well equipped although some of the furnishings are tired. The villas four bedrooms are all good sized but one is located on the ground floor and is ideal for elderly relatives or children. The pool area is lovely with great views over the bay and loads of sunbathing space. Sun beds are available and are comfy! Marigot Bay itself is very pretty and green with numerous restaurants. In our opinion the Rainforest Hideaway did the best food but Doolittles was great for lively entertainment and cocktails. The marina is lovely and some very large boats moor there. It makes it an interesting place to see. The bay and marina are a short walk from the villa but down a steep hill. If needed you can get taxis to take you back and forward. We used the facilities in the Capella Hotel. We had a boat in the marina which gave us inclusive access to the hotel but we saw many people who just wondered in and used the facilities alternatively you can obtain a day pass. The hotel is a short walk down the hill but has two pools, a spa and a couple of restaurants. Worth a visit.

Pauline, who lives next door, looks after the property and is very helpful if you have any problems. She was charming and efficient and resolved any issues quickly. Her husband Cornealius looks after the practical side of things but he also has a boat and is available for trips down the coast. We did a day trip to the Pitons, botanical gardens, the volcano and sugar beach. Great fun. Maggi, the owner, was really helpful in advising us where to go, securing bookings for dinner and helping us get the most from our stay. She even found a chef to cook for us one evening ( cheaper than the restaurants!). Between the three of them they did their best to make our stay really enjoyable.

Overall we had a brilliant time. The villa was ideally suited to our needs and Marigot Bay must be one of the nicest locations on the island. What more can I say?

Beautiful place, even in the rain. Loved it.

What a beautiful home. Gorgeous view of the harbor. The home & grounds are well kept, pool is grand. Everything appears to be tended to, everything was in good condition. If there were any issues (there were none), assistance is readily available. I would certainly recommend this place to any of my friends. Actually I already have sent the link to several people.

First time in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My first time in the Caribbean and a holiday I will never truly forget. When chosing to go away there's many things to think about have I packed enough bikinis, insect repellent, money etc but one thing that you do not need to think about is where you will be staying in this stunning location. After being sent the videos of this beautiful house situated in Marigot Bay I found myself clicking on the link a little too often and showing it to my very envious work colleges! I was counting down the days..I couldn't wait to arrive. Well I was not disappointed! The videos do not do it justice. I found myself running round the house like a small child. The house is very large with 4 spacious rooms,a large kitchen and lounge area a wash room,2 bathrooms and an en suite. The pool is fantastic with a large outdoor seating area over looking the bay. You truly will never get bored of this fantastic view. Waking up to this every day was breath taking. You can see everything, from the birds singing to the yachts coming into the bay. I found myself doing daily videos and making everyone back home very jealous. The house decor is beautiful very carefully chosen and you instantly feel at home in this beautiful place. The kitchen is large so if you feel to do some cooking you can or you can sit on the veranda and do a bbq over looking paradise. Whether there's just a few of you or a large group this house accommodates for all. You are never in each other's way. The rooms are very large and spacious with air con which in the humidity was very handy! The gardens are also stunning with the flowers that surround the house. We were welcomed by a lovely lady called Pauline who introduced is to the house and made us feel at ease and we knew we could contact her if we needed anything. We also met the lovely gardener Lion who had us all in stitches and gave us an insight and stories of the wonderdul St Lucian life! I can only say wonderful things about this house situated on Happy Hill in Marigot Bay. We indeed felt happy and relaxed and immersed in the laid back caribean life at all times. I am already planning my next trip back to St Lucia and where will I be staying...well you've already guessed!!
