The villa was privately built in 2008 for the owners who are lovers of 'real' Western Crete. It has its own private large infinity swimming pool, with uninterrupted views to the west.

The unusual double height open plan living areas allow for cool AC controlled rooms in the hot months and centrally heated cosiness in the walking seasons. There are stunning sunsets and the balconies have breath-taking views of the sea and the White Mountains. Set in olive groves and with well-established orchards and gardens, a secluded and private holiday is guaranteed. The village of Xirokampi is 10 minutes from the beach and local facilities. tavernas and shops.

The Villa is maintained by an English couple in the next village who speak fluent Greek and will provide all the support necessary to make your holiday relaxing and interesting. If you enjoy walking, swimming from some of Crete's most spectacular beaches, lazing in your own secluded swimming pool and even trying out your Greek in the village, this is the location for you. Chania airport is only 30 minutes away and Elafonisi, Falasarna and Samaria Gorge are within easy driving distance.

The villa is fully equipped for 6 and, as it is a family 'home from home': there are toys, games, internet, musical instruments, art materials, a library and every comfort provided for a memorable family holiday.

About Dame Enid Bibby

The villa was built as a holiday home for our family and friends to enjoy. My late husband, Bob Bibby, was a travel writer and we wanted to build a second home that was in an authentic Cretan setting. We enjoyed walking, exploring, swimming, sailing and writing and the Villa was built with this in mind. The property contains many personal items which I am happy to share with our guests. It is unique in design and will suit sun seekers as well as those who love shade and reflection. I am always happy to talk to potential paying guests about the villa prior to booking.

Why Dame Enid Bibby chose Chania area

If you want an authentic Cretan holiday, in a private villa, slightly off the beaten track, then this is for you. All my clients have given the Villa a 5* review and I have over 80% return bookings. My mangers are English and I provide a Welcome Pack to all guests.

The villa is great Off Season for walking, climbing, exploring and relaxing. In hotter weather, there is a private and secluded pool but also easy access to beaches, the Water Park and holiday activities for children.

What makes this villa unique

This is a family, architect-designed home which I only let to couples or small families, It is in a gorgeous secluded position, in a small typically Cretan village. It is off the beaten track but all tourist activities are accessible within a ten minute drive. Many of my clients are 'returners' and have been delighted with the facilities at the Villa. I have an English couple who maintain the property and who are available to assist my clients, as necessary.

Notes:
This Villa is used frequently by the owners and therefore has many 'home comforts': a well-stocked library, beautiful interior décor and facilities for those who wish to use the Villa 'offseason'. The late owner was a writer of books about Crete and the Villa reflects our love of this part of the island. The Villa is situated in the middle of olive groves with its own private gardens, citrus orchard and including a charming walled courtyard garden. You may pick your figs and citrus fruit straight from the trees. The swimming pool has long shallow steps to allow non-swimmers to relax in the water. Six loungers, brollies and tables make relaxing by the pool very comfortable.There is a portable barbecue, deck games equipment and a large cellar storage area which includes a drinks fridge. There is also a canoe for the more adventurous (at your own risk!) Utility Room: Washing machine and storage of cleaning materials, ironing board. Further storage in the cellar for pool-side equipment and barbecue. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Villa will be cleaned weekly and the pool twice a week. Linen and towels provided with a weekly change or more frequently by arrangement. The Manager, his wife and the housekeeper are English residents in the adjoining village. The seating areas around the villa are all under tiled roofs with outside dining for ten. Exterior lighting and power points on all balconies and seating areas, hammocks, loungers and secluded gardens are provided for the comfort of guests. Every client has left 5* reviews and 80% of my clients are returning guests.

Beautiful villa in awe-inspiring location.

Bibby Villa is a truly special place and we've been very lucky to have found it. The view, when you first step out of the car and look over the bougainvillea clad wall, down at the white villa, with the mountains and the sea behind it, is simply breathtaking.

The villa itself is very clean, well appointed and modern - but with tasteful furnishings to give it a homely feel. There are balconies to the two top floor bedrooms, which are both fantastic - the main bedroom's balcony offering an amazing spot from which to watch the sunset. The downstairs bedroom opens onto a patio, which is a perfect place to sit early evening to escape the sun. There is a ground floor terrace, pool side, perfect for family meals, and to the side is a shady hammock - a big hit with our children! The pool is a fabulous infinity style pool, with wide steps down, and is sparklingly clean and in full sun, with loungers and chairs around. Air Con in the bedrooms is a massive aid to sleep, as we were fortunate enough to have very hot temperatures during our stay!!!

The location was perfect for us. Very easy to reach from Chania airport, with a range of beaches and coastal villages to suit all tastes within a short drive. The villa itself is set in an olive grove on a mountain slope at the edge of a small, Cretan village - and is incredibly secluded and private, while not being completely isolated. As I have already mentioned - the views are simply stunning!

The garden is beautiful and we loved watching swifts and bats swooping down for a drink from the pool in the evening, as well as various birds of prey circling above.

Enid clearly is a very trusting person to allow people to share her beautiful home, and she is a pleasure to deal with. She has a team of people out there to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. I really hope we can go back one day to fabulous western Crete, and Bibby Villa!

When we arrived at Bibby Villa our first reaction was WOW, Jackpot!

The location is well appointed with magnificent far reaching uninterrupted views across olive & orange groves across the valley with mountains & sea in the distance.The villa is finished both inside and out to a very high standard with a well maintained garden of flowering plants & fruit trees. The villa was beautifully clean when we arrived and is very well equipped. We did not want for anything during our two week stay. We as a family of four spent a mixture of lazy days by the immaculate infinity pool & outings in the car to some of the many lovely sites, beaches, tavernas & into bustling Chania. A comprehensive welcome guide provided at the villa will inform you of some of the best things to do & visit. We have told a few of our friends & recommended the villa to them, but careful not to tell too many as we want to come back one day. The booking process was very easy & straight forward with very efficient & speedy correspondence with any questions we had. We have many happy family memories of our stay, Bibby Villa did become a real home during our holiday & we will never forget those amazing sunsets from the pool. Perfect!

A very special holiday rental

This is so much more than a holiday rental. This is a beautiful home that makes one feel honoured to have been invited to. The owner is incredibly generous in making everything available to the traveller - there's just one simple rule, replace what you use. If you want a private, quiet, relaxing holiday, then this is ideal. A hire car is a 'must' though. It's a 2 mile journey down to the main road to the bakery and small mini markets. A little bit further to a larger supermarket. Similar distances to tavernas. The pool is beautiful, the views are stunning, and the villa always has shady comfy areas if the heat gets too much for you. Quite simply the best holiday villa I have stayed in.

As this is a private holiday home, I aim to make my guest's holiday experience as relaxing as if it were for a member of my own family. I provide a Welcome Pack for all guests and have my Villa manager readily available to help, if necessary The comments about the need to hire a car are important to note as the Villa was deliberately built for privacy and tranquility but to be within easy reach of the airport, Chania and other necessary amenities. There is a small taverna in the village within a few minutes walk but you do have to order food with 24 hours notice, as everything is prepared freshly for each customer. I hope the car hire expense is partly set aside by the flexibility it gives my guests to explore the beauty of Western Crete. I aim to maintain my 100% 5 star review record and I am delighted that many previous guests have returned each year. I always offer a discounted rate for loyal clients.

A 'Happy' House

There are only so many superlatives available in the English Language and most have been used to describe Villa Bibby, which is blissfully tranquil and unlike any other holiday villa we have been to; you feel you are sharing a home not renting it. We wanted a peaceful location, good weather, a big pool and a stack of books, we supplied the books and Villa Bibby and Crete delivered the rest - big time!

A lovely property within easy reach of the main road to the airport, but incredibly quiet and peaceful. The pool is beautiful and views to the sea and across the valley are also a highlight. The features and equipment in the property are of a high standard.

Booking Notes:

When booking through Owners Direct a 10% refundable deposit is required to secure the reservation within 5 working days, a Rental Contract is then sent electronically. The full amount is to be paid within one calendar month of arrival date, when directions and further information about the Villa will be supplied. The 10% security deposit is returnable within 10 working days after departure, assuming the property is left in the condition described in the Rental Contract. All financial transactions are made by Bank Transfer. Frequent communication with the owner by email and telephone is available to answer and queries.

Favourable rates are always offered to returning clients.

The property is managed by a local English couple on behalf of the owner. This allows for a personal service at short notice.
Changeover Day: Arrive after 15:00 and depart before 10:00, to allow for deep cleaning.
Flexible changeover day and arrival/departure times may be available. A Welcome Pack of essentials is provided.

Additional services such as laundry or cleaning for longer stays is available on request. A small car may be available for rental on request.
