About the property

Cottage in Glororum, Bamburgh, Northumberland, England - Quiet Location, Just A 2 Minute Drive Or 20 Minute Walk To Bamburgh Village

Step into Koru (www.glororum.com) - a traditional stone cottage with a comfortable, modern interior, occupying an enviable position with views to both the coast and rolling countryside - the best that Northumberland has to offer - and just a couple of minutes drive to Bamburgh Beach.

The downstairs hall leads into the two bedrooms, decorated in calm, coastal colours. Opposite the main bedroom is the luxurious, Travertine-tiled bathroom with large bath, shower, underfloor heating and heated towel rail. Next door is a well-equipped utility room with washer dryer and sink.

Take the stairs up to a spacious, light and airy open plan living area with coastal and castle views to the front and countryside to the back. Step outside onto the rear, glazed balcony to watch the sun set over the Cheviots and the starry skies appearing overhead. Or take a comfy seat by the gas log-fire to read a book or mull over a glass wine. Perhaps the best spot is chilling out at the breakfast bar looking towards the framed majesty of Bamburgh Castle.

Send your children out into the sheltered garden below to play while you watch the birds migrating to the Farne Islands and the ever-changing skies. If, alas, it rains, catch up with favourite shows on internet TV, put on a Bluray or listen to your music through the Bluetooth stereo. Or bake a cake! The kitchen comes equipped with most essentials including microwave, smoothie maker, cake tins, gas hob, hand held mixer, electric oven, fridge freezer and, most importantly, a dishwasher.

A 20 minute walk or quick drive will lead you into the picturesque village of Bamburgh to discover a medieval castle and fabulous restaurants and pubs. The spectacular Bamburgh beach is about a two minute drive from the cottage - or go a little further afield to Budle Bay, home to hundreds of sea birds, or Holy Island. From Seahouses (about 15 minute drive), you can catch a boat out to the Farne Islands to see seals, puffins, terns and if you are really lucky - Bottlenose dolphins.

Koru Cottage is one of four properties finished in 2013 called The Granary, which sits within a group of traditional stone farm buildings respectfully renovated into homes and holiday cottages. It is surrounded by fields of wheat, rape seed and sheep.

Please visit www.glororum.com for more information, details about special offers and a secure online booking system. Please check our website for shorter break options and variable changeover days.

fantastic holiday cottage, cosy ,tastefully furnished , great location , amazing views ,very clean

  • 5 of 5

Great holiday cottage ,we have stopped in a lot over the years , this is as good as any , perfect location, a small hamlet of relatively new build holiday cottages within walking distance of Bamburg , built to a very high standard giving it character , some how modern and cosy at same time , tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean , everything you would want from a holiday cottage , with living space upstairs so you can take in the views, out front views to Bamburg castle ,sea behind and the farne islands beyond- stunning , a balcony on the rear side with views across fields to the cheviots in the distance the other side , the sunset from this balcony sunday night was breathtaking followed by a great star laiden sky,as no light pollution around.

We love this area and visit regularly , we have family in the area , but would come anyway , the best coastal area in northern England , the beaches are second to none , the walk from Budle Bay to Bamburg my personal favourite beautiful and relatively people free, this me and my 7 year old Jake did Saturday morning ,followed by playing football on the beach in front of the castle in the rain , followed by lunch at the lord crew , Bamburg has a good selection of pubs resteraunts and ,cafes ,weve tried all over the years most pretty good ,

sunday walked from Bamburg to seahouses kicking the football back and forth with my football mad, Huddersfield Town mad 7 year old Jake , where we met the mrs and brand new 11 week old son luke , a little flutter on the slots then back to Bamburg, lord crew again for sunday dinner - great chilled family day out.

Monday drive to beadnell,, another great beach for a walk , or paddling in summer and yes more football , then down to craster for a walk to Dunstanburg castle(again with the football ) and back to a great meal in the jolly fisherman at craster , looking out to sea , be prepared to wait for a seat , this pubs views and food are great , and therefor has always been busy everytime weve been , being on the coastal road on the way south , a great way to end a great weekend while inching closer to home

didn't want to leave

loved it , we all did ,a perfect place to escape from our busy stressful working lives

would recommend koru cottage to anyone - you wont be disappointed

cant wait to go back

Owner's Response: Dear Martin, Thank you for taking the time to write your kind review. I'm glad you all enjoyed the wonderful Northumberland coast and got the chance to see one of the gorgeous sunsets and starry skies from the balcony. My husband is always trying to track down a constellation and spot an elusive shooting star. We've tried to make it a place to escape to and just chill and relax straight away......until you want to go exploring. You are most welcome anytime. Cheers, Caroline.

Nicest place we've stayed in the UK by far. Gorgeous house, very child friendly, lovely to have sitting room upstairs with beautiful views (and secure stair gate so no issues with little ones). Incredibly well equipped. Great base for exploring the surroundings. We will definitely be going back!

What a lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely bright property, very well equipped indeed. Sitting on a bug free balcony, having supper and watching hares playing in the field - magic. And a great place for the outings we wanted - Farnes, Holy Island, Dunstanburgh, Alnwick and Cragside - and of course Bamburgh castle.

Caroline was very helpful in advance, we would certainly return and recommend to others.
