all you could ask for

  • 5 of 5

for us this house was perfect, two couples, four days, York, Castle Howard, Whitby, and lots of places in between. Two days we ate out , two days we ate in, local butchers and bakers first class, and a really good choice of places to eat all within a fairly short walk. The owner Kate is a very nice lady to deal with, and her house has been very tastefully put together, thank you for a very nice break, Tim

Amazing and very cosy farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at this farmhouse. The owner has kept it fantastically clean and tidy and had everything that we needed. The location is great and it is within a 5 minute walk from Helmsley which is a great little town.

We shall be back again.

Very homely welcoming holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place to stay over Christmas with a few family members and this house was like home from home. Beautiful. I'm from the area originally and feeling so comfortable in the house that we just slotted straight back in and what a lovely Christmas it was. Well furnished, spacious and well equipped. Without a doubt we will be back. Excellent base to travel to the east coast - Whitby, Scarborough, Runswick bay, also for the walks around the Yorkshire moors and of course the obligatory January sales shopping trip to York! Highly reccomended. Many thanks.

Impressive property in charming Helmsley

  • 5 of 5

My wife, baby daughter and I stayed at The Oaks from Monday to Friday in June 2016. The property itself was everything we could've hoped for; spacious, well equipped, with a real sense of quality. The fixtures and fittings were immaculate and the space catered very well to our needs. It was lovely to be able to walk into Helmsley from The Oaks; it is a charming market town. In truth, there was more than enough space for us. We would like to return with extended family, but retain a concern over whether one bathroom would be sufficient for a larger party.

Further Details:

If you were asked to imagine the perfect English market town, then it'd probably look a lot like Helmsley!

There's the bustling market square, the dramatic castle ruins, the charming tea rooms, the inviting inns; all surrounded by mile after mile of the beautiful North York Moors.

Only a mile across, historical Helmsley has lots to keep you occupied with

cosy pubs, fine dining restaurants with Michelin starred chefs and plenty of boutique, book and speciality shops overlooking the square and its ancient cross...be sure to haggle a bargain there at the Friday market!

If it's summer, you might even find time for a dip in the town's delightful open air swimming pool or if you were feeling a little more indulgent you might want to visit the Feversham Arms and have a Spa day using their Spa, Sauna and heated Swimming Pool

The Helmsley Arts Centre caters for all forms of artistic endeavour whether it be classes in ballet, drama, life drawing, yoga and Tai Chi or a performance It's worth noting too that each September the Helmsley Arts Centre holds a folk weekend, attracting nationally and internationally successful musicians.

Indeed, the Cleveland Way and Ebor Way both begin from here. It's no wonder that Helmsley welcomes back so many visitors year after year
