A wonderful cottage with great views and an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay despite some inclement weather. Cottage is well appointed with welcome underfloor heating. Location good for both walking and beaches (and golf and visiting St Davids). Everything was perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to submit this review and for your positive comments. The owners have now added coat hooks in the utility area which previous guests had mentioned were lacking. This property is in an excellent location for beaches, bird watching, golf course, walking and various outside activities. St Davids has some great restaurants, shops and art galleries. Carole Rogers (Property Manager)

A lovely place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a well-equipped, warm, friendly cottage.

Lovely and clean on arrival. Handy for St David's and the good eating at Porthgain and elsewhere.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the positive review and very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The traditional cottage was renovated a few years ago and won a design of the year award. It has been designed for comfort and space with good views from the conservatory and master bedroom. Ideally situated for beach, coast path and touring the area. Carole Rogers (Property Manager)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review. The cottage is well located for exploring the wonderful coast of Pembrokeshire and the tiny city of St Davids with its wealth of history. The cottage is ideal for a holiday any time of the year due to underfloor heating and wood burner. The large garden and views make eating 'al fresco' in the summer a delight. We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful house in wonderful nature. The property was clean and well maintained. The house is bright because of the huge windows. Beautiful beach in the near and St Davids is a nice place to stay. We want to come back!! (.... the only thing we missed was a barbeque... ;-)

The property is wonderful and a most interesting place to stay in for a holiday.

  • 3 of 5

When staying in properties of this star rating before, we have always been greeted with at least a pint of milk and a cake. And sometimes a pint of milk, a cake and a bottle of wine! In addition the property has always been stocked with an adequate, initial supply of toilet rolls, kitchen towels, washing detergent etc.

Disappointingly, this property had none of the above. All we received was less than half a toilet roll in only one of the toilets.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and pleased that the accommodation was appreciated. With reference to the negative points, there is usually plenty of cleaning materials, dishwasher tablets etc under the kitchen sink and spare toilet rolls in the bathroom cupboards. Milk, cake etc is not advertised as being supplied. Carole Rogers (Property Manager)

Coast/Beach:

Whitesands beach is popular with surfers and is approx 1.5 miles away within walking distance. Newgale, Barafundle and Newport beaches are large and all easily reached by car within the hour. The area has numerous small beaches and coves along the coast, some sandy others pebbly. Horse riding, fishing, birdwatching, photography and many other interests to be found with a few miles of the cottage.

Travel:

Cardiff airport is approx 2.5 hours drive away. Railway stations can be found at Haverfordwest and Fishguard both approx 30 minutes by car. There is a ferry terminal at Fishguard/Goodwick to Rosslare in Ireland. Hertz car hire is also available in Goodwick. There are local buses running along the coast and into the main towns but the use of a car would definitely be an advantage to explore the area.

Distances:

St Davids cathedral and Bishops Palace are only 2.5 miles away. The county town of Haverfordwest is approx 12 miles away. Folly Farm and Oakwood Theme Park are great days out for the family and less than one hour away by car. The popular towns of Tenby and Saundersfoot are also less than one hour. Island trips can be arranged from St Davids. Pembroke Castle is well worth a visit, steeped in history.

Further Details:

St Davids is the closest city for banks, supermarkets, local shops and restaurants. Haverfordwest has larger shops and supermarkets. There are ancient castles, and iron age forts, cromlechs and standing stones in the area. The special quality of light and clean atmosphere has attracted many artists and craft people to the area. Galleries, potteries glass and slate shops and lovely gardens with tea rooms all offering local goods. Throughout the year there are music festivals, concerts and theatres.
