Barn in Ecclerigg, Nr. Ambleside, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Ideal for access to the Lake District

A private drive leads to The Old Barn with two private parking spaces right outside plus an addittional visitors space. A large entrance hall has access to a cloakroom/3rd wc/wash basin. The bright and airy kitchen/diner has everything you may need complete with a patio door to the furnished patio, ideal for alfresco living. The spacious living room has deep cushioned furnishings and is flooded with natural light, perfect for relaxing or planning your day with WIFI access; also with patio door access to the patio garden. Upstairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms, full of space and light and with beautiful views; the master kingsize with substanial en-suite shower room; the other two bedrooms are double bedrooms and the house bathroom has a bth with shower attachemnt. Outside there is a delightful patio and use of the landscaped gardens.

This imposing Lakeland holiday home near Lake Windermere provides a fantastic base for a holiday in the Lake District, or a sociable gathering, being ideally placed between Windermere village and Ambleside.

The A591 is the main route into the heart of the Lakes, leading from Windermere on to Ambleside, Rydal Water, historic Grasmere, then branching off to scenic areas such as the Langdale Valley and Coniston.

The National Park Visitor Centre at Brockhole is a must for all who visit, with fabulous grounds leading down to the lake shore and a wealth of activities for kids and adults, they have also built a new pier here, so you can enjoy Brockhole car free - check the website for event details.

Nearby Windermere is ideal for stocking up the kitchen; you'll find the Booths supermarket well-stocked with local produce and everyday essentials. The village also has a traditional butcher and several other local shops.

Ambleside is only a few minutes drive away; an attractive historic village with sophisticated shopping, tempting cafe's and acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as The Glass House. There are also two good cinemas in Ambleside - perfect for a rainy day.

Windermere Lake Cruises depart from Waterhead Pier, just outside Ambleside, providing a car-free route to explore Bowness and Lakeside. No worries about parking!

A delightful barn with beautiful views!

I booked this barn for my dad's birthday on the May bank holiday weekend. It was a last minute trip and we stumbled across it quite late in the day - we were extremely glad we did! The barn was perfect for what we wanted. It is in a lovely quiet location with easy access to ambleside and windemere, and it has a beautiful garden with unobstructed views, wonderful for sitting out in the early evening. It comfortably houses 6, its very open, light and fresh throughout, there is a great family/kitchen dining area and the patio doors open out into the garden. Although we didn't have children with us, we noted that it was well equipped for young families.

The owner - Arif was a pleasure. He was prompt, efficent and helpful at every point.

I have, and will continue to recommend this accomodation to family and friends travelling to this part of the lakes and I hope to stay here again myself. Thanks!

Brilliant, luxurious, surpassed all expectations!

We had an absolutely incredible stay here.

To begin with, our contact with Arif, the owner, was seamless. He provided us with all the necessary information, and always responded quickly to any enquiries. He asked for a deposit upfront that was refunded via cheque shortly after departure.

The pictures don't do the barn any justice, it is really massive and luxurious inside which we truly were not expecting. The kitchen is well-equipped, beds comfortable, house warm. It is faultless.

I reckon you would need a car to stay here, but there is a bus stop that takes you into Ambleside if you so wished.

Would definitely stay here again if ever in the area! Highly recommend.

Fantastic Converted Barn

As a party of five adults we spent a fabulous week in this converted barn. The description on the website was exact , it was spacious, modern and very clean . It would also cater for families with young children as there were toys, a high chair and a safety gate at the top of the stairs.

The Barn was situated in a private setting at the end of a short lane close to Ambleside and Windemere. The bus stop was conveniently situated at the end of the lane should you not have transport.

Brockhole, The Lake District Visitors Centre is on the main road at the end of the lane and this offers activities for families such as canoeing, biking , archery and treetop challenges.

Ambleside is a busy town and has two fabulous vegetarian/vegan restaurants .

We would highly recommend this property and the surrounding area to family and friends.
