About the Owner

Challtuinn is the former family home of the property owners. Self-built and designed 15 years ago with space and open plan living as key features, it's unique, country style is influenced by colonial properties of New Zealand.

Since the children have all flown the nest to start thier own adventures we decided that our house was too large for just two but perfect to share with other families looking for a countryside retreat, hence becoming a family ran holiday let.

Fantastic! Could not have been better!

I feel so lucky to have stayed here! I cannot thank enough to Jane and Steve for making our stay so perfect! There were 12 of us and 3 dogs, we all felt very comfortable and had plenty of space! The kitchen has everything you need,we did a lot of cooking as it was Easter, everything and much more was there:-). The house is beautifully decorated, with loads of books and board games to keep you entratained! We loved the bingo :-). Oh and the fireplace...perfect!

The house is situated in a perfect location, very easy to get to Inverness and of course Loch Ness! The Foyers waterfall is only 15 min away, what a lovely walk that was!!

Thank you so much to Jessica for the super clear instructions on how to get there also for all the help !

I really hope we can return next Spring!

A Welcoming House

A lovely, warm and comfortable house in a stunning part of Scotland. It is nicely laid out. Everything was clean and in good condition. Only thing is it is rather hard to find! Post code takes you to the village but not the house, so get clear directions from the owner before you set off.

Incredible home with a fantastic view!

This house is so much more than just that. It has a certain warm and cosy feel to it which creates a very homely atmosphere. Aswel as very comfortable beds and an endless amount of space, every utensil you woul need to cook Is available in the kitchen.

The gardens and surrounding grounds are full of wonderful walks and a serene man made lagoon is located on the property , occupied by lovely ducks and ducklings.

The owners are extremely friendly and fantastic hosts who will make sure your stay is as lovely as possible. The rooms are spacious and well lit with plenty of heat all throughout the home. The sun seems to enter many different spots through the house which creates a very relaxing atmosphere for those who would enjoy picking up one of the many books within the lounge for a relaxing read.

I highly recommend staying in this lovely home! Had a lovely and truely magical stay.

We spent a week over Easter at this wonderful house and can't recommend it enough. It's spacious yet comfortable and welcoming; the facilities are brilliant with real care and attention paid to the contents - both functional and decorative. There was plenty of room for all eight of us (all adults) and our dog, with a really great communal living area and open plan wonderful kitchen. The outside is spectacular with a large private garden and super decking around the house. The sun shone, the area is unbeatable and the location excellent for us as it's not too far from the airport, Loch Ness, Inverness and Tesco for supplies as well as being surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Steve and Jane are welcoming and so helpful. We shall definitely return.

What a place!!

Stayed here as a last minute break with my wife and kids and we were absolutely thrilled.

The house itself is beautiful with ample space, plenty of equipment and the decor is truly fitting for the setting, which takes me to the surroundings.

Now, any words I can type do not do any justice to this area of the highlands. It is truly breathtaking.

Jane and Steve (the owners) are also lovely folk who took to our kids so well.

We will certainly be back and I am looking forward for an excuse to visit Challtuinn again.

Use of a car or car hire is highly recommended.

Inverness airport is located 28.3 miles away (approximately 45 minutes).

The nearest bus station and train stations are located in the centre of Inverness city, approximately 17 miles from the property.

There is a stagecoach bus service No.18 to the hamlet, a copy of the timetable can be found here:



The city of Inverness is just 17 miles away, a half hour scenic drive with unique views of Loch Ness. In the opposite direction, Fort Augustus, is 16 miles away. Foyers, the closest village with cafe/shop/restaurants/surgery and amenities is 4.5 miles from the house. Foyers is home the famous 'Falls of Foyers', an impressive waterfall and highly recommended attraction on South Loch Ness side.

A good house keeping deposit of £100 is required on arrival. This is fully refundable upon departure inspection.

Changeover Days:

We ask guests to please vacate the property by 10am. Entry to the property is from 3pm onwards.

Notes on prices:

Additional nights are available at a rate of £220 per night. 7 nights minimum stay applies to all rates. Electicity, linen and wifi are all included in the cost.

10% discount for second week bookings and returning guests.

Up to two extra people (children, providing their own beds and bedding) allowed per stay. This must be made by prior agreement, and discussed at the time of booking. £50 fee per extra person per week.

  • The property also boasts a delightful secluded patio area which is a real sun trap in the evening. Benches are situated to the rear and font of the property along the verandas, ideal for enjoying a peaceful cuppa and soaking in the views. Dogs to be kept on leads outside the property (sheep, deer, pheasants, red squirrels, etc...) and nesting birds in the spring. No fires except in the wood burning stoves. No fireworks! Please treat the house, grounds and local strath with care and respect.
