Not 4 star - needs up dating and damp sorted

Bottom floor of house ( had 2 bedrooms and bathrooms ) were damp. Sheets were wet in twin room on arrival - owner was aware of damp as we were informed at the end of the week there was a dead humidifier. Sadly this is not good enough for holiday home. Also owner was aware that the fridge wasn't working properly (as noted by a previous review) and this was confirmed by the milk going off days before sell by date. Wouldn't want to keep meat in it! However, the owner was addressing this problem. On the whole, the house was ok , but needs updating and repairing - hole in downstairs bathroom. Got the impression this was the first season it had been rented out - would have been helpful to know where local shops were in the file and also recycling/ bin day. View over fields from upstairs balcony was lovely.

Owner's Response: I also have a fire extinguisher but the house does not keep catching fire this is the first time damp has been mentioned new fridge freezer fitted on departure date by AO .com it was the best they could do as fitting needs someone present and time slots are 8to2 and 2to 8

Do not stay here

This house is dirty and in disrepair as well as health and safety issues. It was that bad we did not even stay one night, the owner has not refunded our money. The main patio door does not lock and when I asked the owner he said it was fine as he had owned the property for 19 years and never been burgled. Curtains and blinds are falling off the windows, the house smelt, floors were dirty as were cupboards inside. Furniture was broken and dirty. The whole house needs painting and refurbishing along with at least one deep clean. The outside space is untidy and again needs cleaning and updating.

Nice Place For A Getaway

Great location with some amazing views, particularly nice to see a Buzzard flying daily and watching House Martin's building a nest, which was fascinating to watch throughout our stay!

Excellent base in order to explore the surrounding areas such as Padstow, Rock and Wadebridge.

The property had good facilities - bathrooms where a nice size and clean. Living areas met our needs perfectly, as there was ample space for both ourselves and grandparents.

The two fans in the living area where a godsend during what was a hot week when we stayed!

Would happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the region.

LOWER THAN 1 STAR

Upon entering the house, we noticed that the place had not been swept outside (bad sign). then we opened the door and the stairs leading up to the kitchen and 1 bedroom & bath were filthy and in desperate need of hoovering and major cleaning. The drapes by the front door were so dirty, I don't think the owner ever washed them. When we got into the kitchen there were crumbs on the counter. Upon opening the microwave something exploded in there and wasn't wiped and clean, the refrigerator had dried on food and butter and in MUCH need of some scrubbing down. The freezer had such a billed up of ice and left over food in it, the refrigerator ran hot and not working properly. We thought it would catch fire. The dishes were dirty. A crockpot had caked on dried food all over it. My husband reached for a glass so he could pour me a glass of wine and the glass had dried on food crumbs on it. The oven was broken so you couldn't cook, the grill outside was rusty and dirty with cobwebs you couldn't grill on it. There was this foul horrible odour coming from the inside of the dishwasher.The blinds in the living room looked like there was either dried blood or poop from those big black flies, SO DISGUSTING. There were 2 nests right outside the french doors and poop galore, you had to step over the poop if you wanted to go outside, but with two bird nests constantly swooping in being out there wasn't an option. The master bedroom was also filthy. The floors were so dirty no one had hoovered at all. There were spider webs all around inside the house, the window in the shower in the hall was painted over so you couldn't open the window. Leaves were growing in from the outside in. The shower head was being held up by a vice and when you took a shower the smoke alarm would go off. The toilet handle in the master bedroom fell off and there were numerous lights that had burned out. The linens were dirty, stained and the bedsheets seems too small for the size of bed because they kept coming out from the corners of the bed. I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE MY ACCUSATIONS. I HAVE CONTACTED HOMEAWAY BUT THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED. WE CONTACTED THE OWNER AND HE BASICALLY LAUGHED AT US AND SAID , "WHAT, YOU CAN'T LIVE WITH A LITTLE ICE"? This was our holiday. We couldn't find another place due to Cornwall is a holiday spot for many.
