Apartment in Bagnoles De L'Orne, (Chateau) Normandy, France (New Listing) - Located In A Pretty Bustling Square, Close To Restaurants, Pattisserie, Bars And Shops

The apartment is situated at the top of our Belle Epoque (beautiful era) house with a private entrance and has commanding views over the pretty square and the Normandy Church dating back to 1819. Lighting at night enhances this picture postcard vista. The square is meticulously maintained by the local council and flowers, plants and trees are in bloom throughout the year. Just over the road from the house is the absolutely wonderful Pattisserie and the smell of freshly baked bread (particularly in the morning!) is mouthwatering. Home made croissants, cakes, ice cream (try the local maccarons, you'll be hooked) are irresistible. The Pattisserie is a hive of industry. There is a quiet bar next door to the house and restaurants and more bars behind the Church. The local 'Viveco' is just across the road and is a general store selling all the basic foods and necessities needed. There is a Doctor's surgery in the square, just in case, and Dr Flipo speaks rather good English too! Within 100 metres is a bus stop where you can catch a SNCF bus that will take you to the train station and from there you could easily get to Paris in a couple of hours. If you just want to take a day off from touring the many different attractions why not relax in the large, mature garden with a glass of the local cider (pronounced cidre!)

Please note Check-in time is after 3.00pm and Check-out time is 10.00am, however suitcases etc can be left at the house at an agreed time.

Why Lyn Brannan chose Orne

Bought the house about 10 years ago and spent 3 years renovating it. After it was finished (is it ever finished!) the local Mayor thanked us for the renovation work and improving the square.

We love the fact that the house is 'in the community' and we feel that we are a part of it. We were a bit of a novelty at first but that soon passed. The locals all know us and we spend a good deal of time shouting "Bonjour" out of the car window.

Being so close to the forest is wonderful and we often take a hike down one of the forest paths. The solitude is breathtaking.

Being able to walk to local shops, restaurants and bars is a bonus, especially if we've run out of milk.

Living opposite the Church is great as we get to see weddings (and funerals!) and at night when it's lit up it's just beauti

What makes this apartment unique

The free bus passes our front door which takes you around the town and is a great way of meeting and interacting with the locals.

Literally 100 yards from the house is a bus stop and from there you can go anywhere in the world as there's a SNCF bus which takes you to the train station and then off to Paris.

Although the apartment is completely self-contained we are usually about if you have any questions or problems.

You will, if you want, get to know local French residents very quickly, and they love to talk to you (sometimes in English) about family and where you live.

If you need a doctor there's a surgery 50 yards from the house...Dr he speaks English!

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is exclusively yours for the period and you are responsible for day to day cleaning. Apartment to be left as found please. In the event of a 2 week stay a change of bedding is provided. A strict no smoking policy exists. No pets. Outside: Clients have full access to our South-facing garden. The garden is dominated by two very mature Beechnut trees (our very own nature reserve!) and there is plenty of lawn for sunbathing. There are sun-loungers, picnic tables, barbecues and a garden swing to enjoy. Utility Room: Mop & bucket, brush, shovel, vacuum cleaner, ironing board & iron, cleaning products & dusters, clothes maiden Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen provided and changed weekly (or after changeovers!) 4 bath towels are provided. Other: The kitchen is large and contains a large, mahogany dining table with matching chairs. Fully equipped.

Well equipped apartment, everything you will need for a very comfortable stay in Bagnoles, and a great base location for exploring the area or taking in the facilities at the spa.

Made very welcome by the hosts Lyn and Mike.

Lovely apartment,friendly owners and amazing bakery!

Really enjoyed our two weeks in Le Grande Chalet. The apartment is bright and welcoming and absolutely charming. The surrounding area is beautiful and although we have visited Normandy many times before, we found, with the help and local knowledge of Mike and Lyn, some really stunning places we might otherwise have missed. It was a great base for us as we like to travel and visit other areas too. We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived and nothing was too much trouble for our lovely hosts. The boulongerie is a must, at your peril, your waistline will suffer!!

The town has some lovely bars and restaurants, for a special meal we particularly liked Café de Paris run by Bruno who is extremely helpful if French isn't your first language.

We will definitely go back.

Owner's Response: Alan & Lin were just about the perfect guests! They made full use of their time over here in Bagnoles de l'Orne, out every day exploring the surrounding attractions and enjoying the local bars and restaurants. They left the apartment absolutely immaculate. In fact I wondered if they'd crept out at night and stayed somewhere else!!!!! I may be a little biased though because anybody who leaves me 6 cans of Guinness is always gonna get a good review! Always welcome to return. Thanks, Mike & Lyn

Spacious, comfortable and quiet apartment in good location - ideal for exploring Bagnoles and beyond

Ideally situated and very comfortable, well-equipped apartment with plenty of space. The owners made us welcome and were helpful with advice on local things to see and do. Quiet and with very comfortable beds. Sadly, our time was too short and we hope to return to Bagnoles in the not too distant future. Thank you!

Outstanding property in outstanding location

We stopped in the attached apartment to the house. The apartment is as described and beautifully furnished and more than enough home comforts to make your holiday even more enjoyable. 11year old daughter enjoyed full use of the garden, including a selection of bicycles and we enjoyed barbecue facilities in the garden. The house is situated right in the heart of the square with local amenities. We cannot recommend high enough stopping with Mike and Lyn, who are available to help enjoy your holiday stay with as much, or little, support as you require.
