Beautiful Old Home With A Garden Full Of Fruit Trees And Views Of The Mountains

Bedrooms 2
Separate WC's1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Old house in Fornalutx, North West Mallorca, Balearic Islands - Fornalutx Centre With Restaurants, Bars And Shops Is A Few Minutes Walk

The large living space is part of a converted barn with a garden growing a selection of fruit trees including lemons, oranges and avocado from which guests can pick ripe produce. The house is set a few minutes walk from the village centre and is in easy reach of very local restaurants and bars. This is a fantastic place to go off grid for a while and relax while enjoying the mountain views.

If you enjoy cycling, walking or just chilling on the beach this is the ideal place. The walks in the mountains are amazing and there is a local, English speaking, walking company in Soller if you want to join a guided group. Cycling around these mountains is very popular especially in the Spring.

About Crispin Jones

I am Crispin, I manage this house for my mother. The property has been in my family since the sixties. I came to this house for my holidays as a child and I have brought my children here for their holidays. You will quickly gather we are English and live in Surrey but

Crispin Jones purchased this house in 1960

Why Crispin Jones chose Deia - Soller Region

Actually my Grandmother bought it from some friends who had converted the property from a barn with attached cottage to the open plan design we see today. She loved the Soller valley and spent a great deal of time in the house.

What makes this house unique

We love it because it is so beautiful. The village, Fornalutx is quite unique. We love to walk and these mountains provide endless opportunities to explore with the most fantastic views. When it's too hot to be terribly active there is Porto de Soller to chill on the beach or have a delicious lunch at one of the many restaurants or hotels. Further along the coast are many beautiful beaches and coves such as Cala Deia, Torrent de Paries, Valdemosa, Canonga and many more. I also enjoy caving here but that is another matter all together.

Guestbook comments from the owner

10 Excellent

We had a very nice stay in the old house in the small village. It surpassed all our expectations. We had a big and nice garden with lemon- and orange trees. We could sit outside every evening, had a barbecue and could take the grill which is available. Dishes and every stuff you need for cooking for ourselves was set. And there are also maps and a little library with books for travelling at mallorca. We were glad having such a nice and quiet occupation with enough space up to 5 people. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Every mail was answered directly. We will come back and tell friends about this nice place.

Lovely house for a peaceful village stay

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, comfortable house with beautiful garden, short walk from the village with excellent restaurants, useful little shop and delightful bakery. The accommodation had everything we needed and it was particularly lovely to have a fire in the evening.

Lovely stay in old house and barn in Fortnalutx Village

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Fortnalutx many times but this was the first time in Casa Littlejohn. A lovely character filled house with traditional furniture but everything you need for a quiet stay. A secluded garden with 2 terraces, well looked after by the gardener whom we met. Contact with the owner Crispin was easy and helpful in the pre holiday stage and all arrangements worked out as planned. Being just on the edge of the village gives a sense of quietness but shops, cafes and restaurants are all a short walk away - 5 mins to village square. Outside space gives options of sun or shade at different times of the day. We go to this part of Mallorca for walking holidays and this is a great base to explore the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

Back Again Next Year

  • 5 of 5

This characterful property, set in tiered gardens, is just outside Fornalutx but near enough to walk in every morning for warm bread or chocolate croissants! There is a comprehensive introductory folder containing important local numbers as well as bus timetables and general information. It also has the phone number for Crispin if needed, and the wonderful Sari - the property manager. The house itself was spotlessly clean and had a new cooker which along with the comprehensive stock of utensils, pans etc made cooking a pleasure - not always the case in holiday rentals. Best of all it had a family size stove-top coffee maker! Coffee, croissants and local oranges, now it's a Weetabix wolfed down for breakfast, oh well.

If like us you are walkers/hikers Fornalutx is an ideal base to set off from either down into Soller to pick up various trails and paths or up into the surrounding hills. The best bit at the end of it was coming back to a good hot shower and sitting on the sunny terrace at the end of the day, Lovely.

Word of warning - it was just coming into Mosquito season (we were there the second week in May) so make sure you bring a plug in with you.

Lovely traditional house in stunning village

  • 5 of 5

We already knew Fornalutx is a perfect spot for a cycling and walking holiday, with it's great restaurants, cafes, well-stocked shop and lovely local walks, so we were pleased to find this property at the top of the village. It's just a few minutes walk down to the bakery in the morning. Arrived to find it spotless and well-equipped. Beds comfortable and good quality bedding. Great shower which is vital after a long day in the saddle! Lovely secluded terraces outside to catch or avoid the sun at different times of the day, just listening to the birds and sheep in the terraces. A hire car is recommended here if you really want to explore and there is plenty of parking across the road from the gate. Owner is responsive and helpful when communicating. We stayed for 10 days and are already planning a return trip to Casa Littlejohn next year.

Charming characterful house in a lovely position

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights in the house - it was well prepared for us and we enjoyed every minute there. The house suited us due to position in Fornalutx, it's easy to walk down into the village or take walks higher up the mountains from here. Parking was easy too.

The house has a great large space when you walk in and the rooms are all big and spacious. It was very cosy and quiet which is exactly what we were after - no distractions!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that Ian enjoyed our house. The area has to be visited to really appreciate why it is so wonderful. The house and village are set on the side of a valley with mountains all round. The three terraces of garden has fruit trees you are free to pick from as well as places you can lay out and relax. As a family we have been going there since the 1960s and still love going back. Thank you Ian for your lovely review
