Fernbank House in Keswick, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Perfect Location Just A Short Walk To Town Centre

A perfect place for a large family get together or an escape to the country with family or a group of friends. Fernbank House has five bedrooms providing between five double beds and four twins and a double, thereby giving up to nine individual beds if required. The house has five bathrooms and a Jacuzzi Hot Tub, all furnished and equipped to the highest standards which is reflected in the 5 Stars rating awarded by Visit Britain.

Our preferred change over days are Friday for a three or seven night stay or Monday for a four or seven night stay.

Sorry we are unable to accepts pets at this property.

About Stephen Lyle-Mason

We are Stephen & Di Lyle-Mason. Di has lived in this most beautiful town of Keswick since she was 12 years old. It took me a few more years to join her. We have had our Guest House (Stonegarth) since 1990 and purchased our first self catering property, Fernbank House (ref E16680 ) in 1996. We chose this house as we believed there was a gap in the market for a high quality house that could sleep ten. In 2004 we seized the opportunity to purchase Porch Cottage (ref E16717) This grade 2 listed cottage dates back to 1698 and was in need of a complete restoration. We hope you like the results.

In 2013 we kept walking past what is now known as River Cottage (ref E16653) . After saying to each other that we shouldn't get another property, we went for a viewing. The rest as they say is history.

Lovely house in a great location. We usually stay closer to town centre however, the house there was getting a little tired. Fernbank was great. The owners were just finishing off a little work but this made no difference to our stay. The amenities were fantastic and suited the group well with split beds so everyone could sleep alone. The beds were the most comfortable we've experienced in a long while. And once we actually read the instructions for the cookers and hobs we were fine. The hot tub was an added extra and well appreciated after a long walk. We will most definitely stay again.

Excellent property.

A very good property for a group of people situated on the outskirts of Keswick convenient for the northern lakes. The property is a good size and well equipped. We had 8 adults in the house and had plenty of space. The hot tub was an excellent extra and although we thought having to stop using it at 8 pm was rather early it proved no problem at all. Keswick is a 20 minute stroll away with its shops and pubs and very easy access to the fells. A very enjoyable stay. We hope to use it again.

Perfect for friends

Our second stay at Fernbank. It's the perfect property for a groups of friends as each bedroom has its own bathroom and there's a jacuzzi in the garden. It's a shame that it can't be used after 8pm ( don't want to disturb the neighbours - fair enough) as on dark cold winter evenings it would be lovely. We made great use of it anyway.

The house is very comfortable and 4 of the 5 bedrooms have single beds that can be made into large doubles. The fifth has a double bed in the smallest room. We just drew lots for the bedrooms. There's also a bedroom down stairs for those who can't manage stairs.

The lounge has 3 large and comfy settees and a chair and a lovely wood burner which makes it a cosy room even though it's big. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of pans and a big 'range' cooker. The dining room has a large table and comfortable chairs that seat 10 easily.

The garden has seating and a table for warmer months and for putting towels on while in the jacuzzi!

It's a 20 minute walk into Keswick for shopping or eating out (plenty of good restaurants and cafes) and if you run out of tea bags there's a Spar at the garage a few minutes walk away.

We were there for 4 nights and only used the cars once to visit the theatre as it was raining. There are plenty of walks straight from the door and on the lake there are the boats to travel further afield.

The owners were quick to respond to any enquiries we had before we arrived for our stay and the description is accurate. For a large house with high ceilings it was very warm so the heating must work pretty well! The wood burner wasn't essential but was pretty and made the room cosier.

The wifi only seemed to work in the lounge and bedroom above the lounge but then...... We weren't there for the Internet!

All in all a perfect house and location for a few days away with friends or family. We'll probably be back next year.
