House in Cley next the sea, North Norfolk, England - Peaceful Location On A Hill.

A sun-drenched house dating from early 1800s but thoroughly updated. Tucked away near the church and village green so very quiet location but a short walk from the coast and beach. South east facing patio is perfect for breakfast and lunch outside. All the rooms are a good size. 2 pretty bedrooms, one bathroom and one shower room. Large kitchen and sitting / dining room. private parking area across the lane from the house.

About Sally Empson

We bought a holiday home in Cley when our children were small as it is an idyllic, relatively quiet part of the country. We rented this out part-time as well as used it a lot ourselves for 13 years. There are marvellous beaches, lots of sailing (and sailing courses), horse-riding and things to interest children.

We sold that house, but missed Cley so much that in 2014 we bought a sunny, smaller house with stunning views. We are very pleased to be back.

Why Sally Empson chose North Norfolk & Coast

Cley is a really pretty coastal town in north Norfolk. It has a much photographed windmill, world renowned bird watching and a huge beach.

It is also a relaxing and beautiful place to live and stay. From the front door there are excellent walks in all directions, good pubs and a short drive away, one of the best beaches in the country. Perfect for children and adults. If this is your first visit - you will return.

What makes this house unique

Our house has truly beautiful views over the medieval Cley church and countryside beyond - yet is only a 15 minute walk ( 5 min cycle) to the marshes and beach beyond.

It is warm, sunny and spacious for a 2 bedroom house and will make a perfect base. It also has a large private parking area - rare for Cley!

We thought the house was probably the best we have stayed in on a number of visits to Norfolk and the location superb. We walked every day except the very wet Monday. Sunday lunch at the Dun Cow - fantastic. Wiveton Bell - very good. Wiveton Farm cafe - very good. Deli - excellent local stuff. I am missing my pints of Wherry.

Notes on accommodation: This is a super sunny, light house with amazing views. All rooms are a good size and there is no cramped-cottagey feel. We just bought it summer 2014 so most furnishings are new. We use it a lot ourselves, but for now are really happy to rent it to those who are looking for something really comfortable in an idyllic, peaceful location. Cley has the contrast of the wild marshes and beach beyond and the peaceful beauty of the church and village green - both within a 15 minute walk of each other. There are 2 pubs (one a 5 min walk away), and you'll lose your heart to the deli. Also a fish smokery plus bookshop and art gallery. Outside: outside is a pretty, sheltered south east facing patio which is sunny for most of the day and has views over the church yard/church. It is surrounded by flint walls and flower/shrub borders. We have a wooden table and chairs for 6 people - perfect for eating out or reading. Utility Room: No utility room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and bath/hand towels are included in the price. (Beach towels are not)House is cleaned between each rental.

Pretty place, convenient interior, and easy walk to nice pub and shops in village.

Easy to enjoy walking for bird life . We had a great day out at Thursford, and also a day on the North Norfolk Railway

Very peaceful, with quiet neighbours!!

A lovely house on a quiet lane adjacent to the beautiful church in Cley.

Well equipped, nicely furnished and decorated unlike a lot of holiday rentals.

The master bedroom is the one to opt for if you plan on sharing with friends as it has a nice en-suite with power shower. However your friends will have lost out as the other bathroom's shower is not up to standard for this price, poor water pressure, temperature control and positioning. A relatively small point but very annoying after a couple of days!

The house has a lovely sheltered, sunny courtyard garden, ideal for those breakfasts in the sunshine, we were very lucky with the weather and breakfasted alfresco every morning.

Lovely location, clean, comfortable and well kitted out.

A very quiet and lovely location for a few days away. We had very cold weather but were cozy and warm in the house, especially with the lovely fire. Very well equipped kitchen and house in general - we had everything we needed. Everything was very clean and nicely arranged. Thank you.

Location

Coast/Beach:

Cley beach is huge and runs into Blakeney Point. It is all an AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty). Our house is 15 mins walk onto the marshes and about 25 mins walk to the beach. (A 5 minute drive). Holkham beach is world class and is a 25 minute drive.

Travel:

A car is not strictly necessary but very useful. There is a coastal hopper bus that goes from Sheringham station along the coast through Cley.

Distances:

We are in the village. Cley has 2 pubs, an excellent deli which can provide all your eating/drinking needs, a famous smokery (fish) and a bookshop, pottery and art gallery.

Holt is 3 miles away and is one of the best country towns in Norfolk for independent shops. A delight for browsing.

Booking Notes:
Please email for availability and prices. We require a 25% non refundable deposit to hold the rental with full payment 8 weeks before arrival. We ask for £100 security deposit against damage or extra cleaning which will be refunded within 2 weeks of the rental finishing.

Changeover Day:
Normal arrival time - after 4pm; departure time before 10am. Normal rental days are Fridays, but we are flexible depending on time of year. We are also flexible about length of stay e.g. happy to do 10/11 day rentals or long weekends.
