Renovated stone farmhouse in beautiful location.

Overview

Property

Updated: 13-Sep-2016
Farmhouse in Déjalat, near Sainte Sabine, Beaumont Du Perigord, Dordogne, France - Within easy reach of the Bastide towns of Villeréal, Monpazier and Beaumont .

The farmhouse has been modernised to a high standard to make it comfortable for guests whilst maintaining its original character. It sits adjacent to the owners' main house, a converted barn. It benefits from a modern fitted kitchen, log burner, satellite TV, DVD and Wi-Fi. Both bathrooms have baths, heated towel rails and the one downstairs has a thermostatically controlled shower. There is private parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage. Guests have their own private garden behind the cottage with sun loungers, a BBQ plus everything needed for alfresco dining. Included is the use of the owners’ pool which has lovely views and a large terrace with sun beds and umbrellas. The cottage benefits from facing east to make the most of the morning and evening sun, while keeping it cool through the day. The farmhouse is the perfect starting point for walks or cycle trips through the quiet local lanes to nearby medieval villages. Sainte-Sabine, only a few minutes away by car, has a bakery, post-office and several restaurants, including La Gentilhommière which boasts a Michelin star. The cottage is ideally situated for those wanting to enjoy the beauty of the French countryside while being within driving distance of the Dordogne and Vézère valleys, where you can see everything from splendid chateaux to the world-famous cave paintings at Lascaux. For the more energetic, there is kayaking on the Dordogne which we can highly recommend! The wine tours of Bergerac and the town itself (30 minutes away) are well worth a visit as are the local Bastide villages with their shops, restaurants, bars and wonderful weekly markets and summer food festivals.

Bordeaux and Toulouse are both within a 2 hour car journey.

About the Owner

Tim and Tanya moved to France in 2006. They have 3 children (16, 14 and 8), a smiley dog and a lazy cat. Tim works from home in the financial markets whilst Tanya is a qualified yoga instructor (private sessions available on request).

They love this area for its beauty, its variety, its peace and its simplicity.

What a wonderful fortnight we've had in this beautiful gite - a really luxurious feel, charmingly restored, decorated and accessorised! Thank-you for being such welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts; the substantial welcome pack was gratefully received after a big journey; and especial thanks to Tanya for a wonderful yoga practise!

We've enjoyed relaxing days by the pool and also tucked up under the gallery on the two rainy days!

We'd love to return. Thank you so much!"

A home from home

  • 5 of 5

We were made really welcome - a proper home from home. Breakfast there for the next day when we arrived. Towels supplied for the pool as well as in the house. The pool was welcoming on hot days; the gallery for when you needed shade; plenty of space to play outside. Nothing was too much trouble - Tim, Tanya and family were very helpful especially when making bookings either for a restaurant or activity. This place is a definite recommendation.

Relaxing holiday in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as Dejelat in August for two weeks and had a wonderful relaxing holiday, this is just what we had needed. Tim and Tanya were welcoming and friendly. The location is beautiful and peaceful and the swimming pool is a very good size, as a swimmer this was fantastic as I could swim lengths. There is garden ground on both sides of the property so there is always somewhere to sit in the sun or shade and it also feels very private. We loved the gallery for an early morning coffee and in the evening playing card games with the children. The cottage is well equipped, clean and tidy. We would love to return.

Beautiful holiday cottage with fantastic pool

  • 5 of 5

"We have had a wonderful two weeks staying at this beautiful house. We loved the fantastic swimming pool, beautiful gardens and so many various seating areas to suit temperature and time of day. Inside is also lovely with lots of welcoming and useful touches as well as being comfortable and very attractive. Tanya, Tim and family, plus pets, were so friendly, polite and helpful and everything was easy and relaxing. We loved the beautiful bastide towns and found plenty of things to do and places to visit.

We would have no hesitation to recommend this cottage - one of the best we have stayed in"

Beautiful setting, property and swimming pool

  • 5 of 5

"Tim, Tanya and family were friendly and welcoming and did everything they could to ensure we got the most out of stay here. We loved the many different seating areas in the surrounding grounds that could be enjoyed at different times of the day. The property was well equipped and roomy, clean and well-maintained. The swimming pool was a fantastic size, large enough to swim lengths or simply laze about in on floats. Our favourite thing was to spend an evening under the covered terrace playing cards, with welcome visits from Daisy the dog and Rocky the cat. We would happily recommend this to our friends and family."

Wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 week holiday at this gite. Tanya and Tim had prepared it for our arrival with fresh flowers, food for an evening meal and breakfast in the fridge as well as beautifully made up beds. The pool was lovely and everything was just as it was described on the webpage.

The area was a delight with small towns to explore and we especially enjoyed canoeing on the river. Tanya and Tim were the perfect hosts, giving us advice on things to do, helping arrange trips and making this an awesome holiday for us all. Thank you so much.
